Perry can without a doubt play the 3, and I'd say it's likely that it will end up his primary position within a few years. Especially since he's not a very good rebounder. He has the speed, quickness, athleticism, ball-handling etc. to play the 3 easily, and still be better at those things than most 3s in the NBA. That's what's so intriguing about him.
If we pick in the 5-7 range, I'd be happy with P Jones. He has so much talent. It's a mystery why he wasn't more impressive during his freshman season. He really does have all the tools. But he's too passive. And it worries people, including myself. Still, if you can get him to be more assertive and to believe in his abilities, you might end up having a legit star, or at least an upgraded version of Odom. That would be huge.
His demeanour is worrying though. And I'm not sure about his smarts or charisma off the court (which is usually what your star players have).

That aside, I believe that Perry Jones would have to play SF in the NBA. I can't seriously imagine him trying to hold position against some of the PF's in the league. I've watched him play in at least 20 plus games. Some of which I watched twice. In all those games, I saw one game where he looked like the player that was advertized at the beginning of the season. Then spread out through the rest of the games, you would see flashes of his ability from time to time. Other than rebounding, there is no aspect of the game he doesn't have the ability to play at a high level.
Therein lies the rub. Because all you see are brief glimpses of what he's capable. I tried to convince myself that it was the system that was holding him back. Similar to Favors at Georgia Tech last year. Later in the year I thought it might be playing along side of LaceDarius Dunn, who was trying to set the all time scoring record at Baylor, and as a result, became a black hole in which the ball disappeared. It certainly didn't help him to be playing the center position in Bayor's scheme. But at some point, you have to think there's something wrong with this kid. He just has too much talent to not explode from time to time.
He has terrific size and length. He handles the ball like a guard. He's an excellent passer. His jumpshot is almost picture perfect. Add in that he's a freak athlete who runs like a deer and has terrific hops, and you have to ask yourself, whats the problem? Not only did he not wow me, he bored me most of the time. He's truely one of those kids that you wish would stay for a couple of more years so you can get a true read on him. Is he what you've seen this year, or is he a superstar waiting in the wings. I sure wish to hell I knew.
