Luther Head and JR Giddens camp invitees

Luther Head is what you think he is. Above average jumpshooter who is decent at defending someone that is the same size as him. The only problem is that Luther Head is an undersized 2 guard and tends to be below average against anyone taller than him.

He also has abysmal handles and will fumble it away if you expect any sort of dribble penetration.

Basically a decent three point shooter (except in the playoffs, dont even get me started on that) without any other real plus points. He's fairly athletic but his size really hurts him.

Good Head isn't easy to find!

Yeah I hope all our guys come to camp early so we can get a HEADstart on camp and head into the season with a poise, chemistry and an all around good head on our shoulders. I will be HEADing to Atlanta to see them play this year for sure.

Giddens is a different story altogether. He's an athletic player, or at least used to be before the injury, thats never had a legitimate chance. He's very raw, and you would be betting on pure potential with him. He would certainly have less chance of getting on the floor than Head would, considering his total playing time in the NBA. So the only reason I can see for his invite is for long range potential. If he were to make the team, I doubt he'll get much playing time. His only advantage over Head is athletic ability and being 2 inches taller.
Gidden is one of the SL guys who caught my attention. He did not have a great outing by any stretch of the imagination but he is, well, very unique. I don't know if he was known as a defender in college or if the Celtics taught him well, but that's going to be his calling card. Very strong and athletic guy with ridiculous Tyreke-like wingspan. If he can hit that jumpers consistently, which will take some time, he can be a Udoka type. Curiously, he shot 40% from threes in his freshman year and never came close ever again.

I think Giddens is another indication that GP is focusing on bringing more defense to the team.
