Kings meeting with Lebron?

Lebron has a lot of meetings coming up with the Knicks, Nets, Clippers and so forth but do the Maloofs are even going to waste time entertaining the thought of LeBron playing with the Kings. Do you think it's even worth it? I'm sure a lot of teams will meet up with him. I think the Trailblazers and Warriors should try a sign and trade and even the Mavericks. There are a million possibilities. The KINGS have cap space but will be worth it to sign him, will he make the team unstoppable? I know, "every team wants him and he can help anyone", but what I'm saying is that maybe the team is too young (James is young) but maybe he see's REKE and Cousins and thinks, "This team is legit". I don't think they'll meet up with him when he swings out west but what do you think?

I think the chances of this happening are incredible small. LBJ is looking to contend and win championships now. If we're honest with ourselves, we aren't ready yet. Next year we should be serious about making the playoffs and probably an early exit, but year 3 is where we hope our talent develops to where we make serious playoff pushes. It's not out of the realm we can make a playoff push this year and try deeper next year, but criteria isn't something I'm sure LBJ is looking for when he wants a team ready to contend right now. We do have the assets to pull off trades and SnT's but realistically it probably won't happen.

I think we have 15 or 16 million, not even enough for a max(almost enough). Also I think it would be a huge waste of time since I think he has his mind made up for the Bulls.

On an unrelated note I find it really funny that out of all these rumors most of the players are either going to Miami or Chicago, no one mentions New York.

With the addition of Cousins and Hassan, we are pretty much the most talented young team in the league, with the possible exception of OKC. Our advantage is we have that elusive elite big man now in Cousins. If we got LBJ, we win the title in 2 years. We have insane defensive potential now with Big Cuz, Whiteside, and Dally. I know everything happened so fast, and it takes time to realize who we are now. Loaded with young talent. He'd have to pair up with another big name free agent if he went somewhere else. Here, you've got the best young point guard in the league, the best big man prospect in the last 15 years, an insane shot blocking specialist, talented young wing players, and best of all it's the DEFENSIVE potential of this team that is now most attractive. Small market crap aside (we're not really that small), just looking at the team, we are the best option for LBJ in creating a dynasty over the next ten years, which is probably about how many LBJ has left to play. After next year, if we had LBJ, we would literally be winning it every year, if not contending next year immediately for the title. Just ask yourselves-- are we better than the Cavs w/o Lebron??? Ahh, with our draft picks.... yeah.

LeBron needs to play with a dominant slasher/finisher, an outside shooter, a relentless pf on both offense and defense, a big man who can face up and hit shots and bang in the low post, and a bench that can play some serious wing and interior defense and mess around and score a few points. With a lineup of Tyreke, Beno, LBJ, JT, Cousins and a bench of Landry, Garcia, Greene, Casspi, Dally, Whiteside, and Brock, it sure doesn't sound much like the Kings.

Where's my eye rolling emoticon when I need it? Of course, in the interest of maxxxing LBJ, the Kings might have to do a sign and trade and the only way they could match the contract that LBJ wants is to lose Garcia and Dally. Oh, buggers. Don't know when Dally can be traded though thanks to the current CBA.

I don't want Lebron. The NBA would be too easy. I want our team to work for its success and win as underdogs... not as a one man show.
That remains a ridiculous stance.

If we could sign LeBron, then woohoo, welcome LeBron and let's go kick the league's *** forever.

But unless this is a) one of the great stealth recruitment campaigns in NBA history, and b) LeBron REALLY loves Tyreke, its not even worth worrying about. There have been 6 teams reported to be in main contention and sending delegates for audiences with the King -- NY, NJ, LAC, MIA, CHI, CLE. everybody knows who they are, and it would really be a bombshell if anybody else snuck in, let alone one of the youngest teams in the league coming off a 25 win season.

Surely your jesting, right? We, who have won nothing, are suddenly going to get particular about how easy we might win if we had LeBron.. Ahemm! I think not. My personal goal is to be hated by the rest of the league like the Lakers are. After our fifth or sixth title then maybe I'll become more sympathic to the rest of the league.. Of course this is all nonsense. LeBron isn't coming here. But better days are..

You totally hit the point. Dreaming about Lebron coming to Sac-Town is simply a waste of time.
If our young team will develop then we will be able to attract Superstars in near future- but right now its still too early.
If the other teams hate you, you know you are good..

I don't think so. When we finally win it... or if... I want the experience to be as great as possible... and to me, thats winning as the team no one thinks can win it. I don't want to have the Lebrons and Kobes of the league... I want to beat them.

There is no way to prove this, but I've got a hunch that Laker fans will never appreciate winning a ring the way that Kings fans will... and the reason for that would be that they win it nearly every year. I want the feeling for us to be better than just "yay, we win again"... I want it to be "We did it... we actually won".

If our young team develops, we won't have room for superstars!!! We'll have two or three!!!

Unless Lebron chooses a team like the T-Wolves who have proven nearly incapable of handleing a franchise, whoever he ends up on is pretty much guaranteed to win a championship. And your personal goal might be to be hated like the lakers... mine is to win a championship as the best team... not the team with the best players. That's what we were in the early 2000's and I want to return to that.

So let me ask you... how MANY times do you want to win? Once? Ok... then maintain that mindset. You'll be like the Portland Trailblazers in the 70s. If you want to whoop up on the league for as long as possible, then you've got to sacrifice your fantasy about HOW you want to win. When winning is your goal, it has to be your only goal. Anything else makes it harder. Do you think Petrie thinks like you, or is he just focused on winning? I'd prefer a GM that was just focused on winning. Give up the bad news bears mentality. You have to sacrifice that in order to get the job done. The only reason you don't like Kobe is because he beat you (well, there may be other reasons too). But $100 says you'd feel different about him if he fell to us at 14 instead of being nabbed by the Lakers at 13.

I personally would like to see a Kings Dynasty.

I get what you are saying Faithful ... and I agree. I wouldn't mind having LeBron come here, but I would rather earn the championship, not buy it. The team we built, molded, crafted into contention. The team everyone says can't do it. They will say things like Evans is a ball hog and out of control, with no jump shot. Cousins doesn't take it seriously. Thompson isn't intelligent enough. Whiteside is over-achieving. I want us to be the dark horse, even after we prove year in and year out we are for real.

At least I hope ...

What Kings fan wouldn't? I don't think he is saying he wouldn't want a dynasty, but that he would rather our teams stars be the focal point, not a free agent. Like the Yankees, do there fans even enjoy watching the game ? I wouldn't. Without a challenge there is no reason to go on the journey.

Exactly. I would like to have an awesome dynasty... but I just find something wrong with going from a 20+ win team to a 50+ win team in one season because we paid enough money to one guy in order to have it done.

Really? You guys don't want Lebron because he will make us too good? Really? LOL.

I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion...but wow... that's the silliest thing I've ever heard.

It's about the coach

If LJ is smart he should consider going to a team with above average PG and Center/PF and a proven coach. We do have a start PG and a pretty good set of bigs. The question is is PW the coach that's going to be able to put it together? That would be hard to convince LJ. If we had Larry Brown, Evans, and Cousins, we can make a lejit run at LeBron. I think making a run at Joe Johnson is more productive. We do need a 3 pt shooter and LJ is not one.

I'm going to take the "blindly optimistic homer" stance with The Hammer. All of a sudden we have a rediculously talented young core. I dont need a LeBron pipedream to get excited about our future.

Thats where I am at right now, so optomistic you could almost call me a homer... Ok ok, I am going overboard I admit it.

Have you ever seen this guy in practice? He knocks down 3's in game but in practice he literally can make shots from 3 quarters court, I've even seen him throw up full court shots and make it like he's only a few feet behind the arc. You have me entirely LOST... LOL LBJ is no Ray Allen from behind the arc, but I would trust the ball in his hands with seconds left on the game clock to knock down a 3 for the game winner ANY DAY!

LBJ isn't coming here because it's a small market and his main goal is to be the first athlete to become a $billionair$. It's not going to happen but he's more interested in advertising contracts than a title.

Umm... that still doesn't make him a 3 point shooter. Do you think LBJ will ever be in the 3 pt shooting contest?

There's no harm in trying to meet with him if your the Maloofs. At one point they were neck and neck with Cuban as NBA owners who wanted to spend money and sometimes come off bigger than the team. I would be surprised if these guys didn't even TRY to get Lebron to listen to their sales pitch.

I've seen him brick 3 pt all day long when the game is on the line. Did you see their playoff run? He's inconsistent. We need consistency from outside.
