Derrick Favors Interview

This part, not so much.

Despite his woeful off-court judgment, I wouldn't be heartbroken at getting him. He's only 19, still a kid... he can learn to love dunking on Kobe after he gets here.
Kobe's getting old. Players should get less satisfaction from doing stuff to him. Go dunk on a fast break with Lebron on your tail instead

What if he's C-Webb 6'10" (as in 6'9" with freakish hands and arms)?
If he if just like my favorite king of all time.....I would be ok.

I do see him being the next Antonio Mcdyess and I am happy with that.

Evans, Casspi, Greene, Favors all we would need is a lockdown defender, pure shooter and a STARTING center.

Is Derrick Favors of Georgia Tech the next Chris Bosh who was also a Yellow Jacket? It looks like he definitely has potential to be in that league or close - and maybe a MUCH better defender.

Prefer Cousins, tired of the 6'9 pf , see whats happening to boozer and milsap. Cousins is ready outta the box, he will contribute now, and will be a force in the paint exactly what we need with Tyreke. Lakers got Gasol and Bynum locked up for @ least the next 4 5 years, Oden will comeback as well, we need a legit big man.

Dwight Howard is 6'9" w/out shoes. He seems to be managing alright. Let's see how Favors measures out before comparing him to guys who measured 6'7" and 6'6".

NBADraft.net: What can you bring to an NBA team next year?

Derrick Favors: Hard work.

I like that answer!

This kid may be the 4th pick and if thats where the Kings are picking, then Favors is the right pick.

I liked hearing that also. how hard Tyreke has worked to get to this point, should make Favors work hard.

I think 6'11''-7' is perfect height. I don't know why people want massive(not saying it's anyone here) 7'2"-7'3" guys. That's just too big and they're always hurt. They're not mobile enough either.

Kareem was 7'2". So was Deke. Two of the most durable guys in NBA history. It just depends.

I think its just an individual thing. Wilt was 7'1" and weighed 260/270 and he played 14 seasons with injuries affecting only one of those seasons, and that was toward the end of his career. Alton Lister was another big dude that was mostly injury free for most of his career.

D Howard is 6'9 without shoes, i find that hard to believe but u could be right, i want a legit 6'10, 6'11, 7'0 player which is cousins, if we dont take Demarcus it will prolly be because some character issue, that would be a mistake he's exactly what we need, with him and Tyreke i will be very excited.

6'9" was Howard's measurement as a high school grad. He has grown since then and now looks to be about level with Chris Bosh.

That would only make him about an inch taller.
One inch is a huge difference for a big man. The difference between a 6'9" and a 6'10" guy is significant. I'd pee my pants if JT shows up next season as a 7-footer instead of a 6'11"er. Every bit of length counts when you're talking about PF and C.

Is Derrick Favors the next Chris Webber? Seems to have equal athleticism/explosiveness as Webber, even his body looks like Webber's.

IMO, Favors is much more like a raw Amare, with a much higher ceiling on the defensive end. Favors will be a beast, and will be all over the boards. I like him a lot, especially if he were to be paired with a physical, shotblocking center.

He's not as quick or explosive as Amare. I'd compare him more to David Lee athletically
Favors is much stronger than Lee or at least will be in 3-4 years. I think he's more like Dwight with worse jumping. He's not a freak athlete but still elite, say top-20, among NBA big men.

Ha ha! He just went from being like Webb to being like Lee.. I guess it depends on which glass your looking through. I think he's a much better athlete than Lee. However Lee, at the present time is more skilled. If you have to choose between Cousins and Favors and you want the one that will produce the fastest, then you go with Cousins.

Favors is still a raw player. He has little game away from the basket. Your placing your bets on potential. But its pretty solid potential. I have no doubts that he's going to be a good player. Just not immediately. He may look like Webber, but thats where it ends. I do think he'll help defensively and with rebounding sooner than later. And he'll get points just by being around the basket. But I doubt he'll be the guy you pass the ball into and let go to work. At least not right away.

He runs the floor extremely well, thus the comparison to Amare. He handles the ball OK, but is turnover prone if he does it in traffic. He's just an OK passer and had trouble passing out of doubles this year. Sometimes not recognizing it soon enough, and then forcing up a bad shot. In fairness to him he was on the floor at the same time as Lawal, another player that lived in the paint. So it got a little congested in there. With G. Tech not having any outside scorers on the team, the other teams just collapsed down on the post leaving little or no room for Favors to opperate.

He does have a jumper and decent form, but was very inconsistant with it. Ditto his freethrow shooting where he shot under 60%. I think he's an above average athlete with great hops. I've seen him grab the ball in the air with one hand on alley opps and his shoulder was even or above the rim. He has very good hands.

So you have a great athlete with a lot of natural skills, but lacking in all the basketball skills he'll need at the next level. If your looking for a repeat ROY player, he's not it. But if your looking for a player that might be a top five PF down the road, then he's your man..
