On a side note, Tim Flanery is a ****ing idiot!!
Bases loaded, no outs in the 1st and he sends Velez to steal home to get thrown out. We don't score one run. I can't stand this moron. He's clueless!

Torres was actually pretty good offensively and defensively last year and he has something that we don't have on this team - !speed!

However, this year he is pathetic and I think coaches are running out of patience.

Even though it was a terrible loss, the series was successful. We outplayed arguably the best team in baseball. Wilson messed up this time. It happens.

Sanchez is coming back soon and I hope he will be a consistent .300+ guy.

Huff will hit better. He is so distracted by AT&T and its size now. I am even kind of tired of listening to his complaints how big it is and so on. He needs to settle down a little bit and I think he will adjust.

First of all, I want to quote myself :D. Only next game and 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 RBIs. Way to go, Mr. Huff! :D

But the true hero is Zito. He goes deep into games and saves the bullpen.
Now Cain needs to catch up. He's been pretty average and we can't afford that.

I am not a big fan of power-fastball closers like Wilson. I prefer crafty ones with staff who can mix different pitches.
However, he has been solid and I think he can be a good one down the road. He needs to add one more pitch to his repertoire. He is still young and will get better.

BTW, Congrats to Cain - first win!!! :)

Most of the best closers tend to have 2 really good pitches. Wilson has his fastball and slider.

Do you think Wilson has two REALLY GOOD pitches? I assume you think that his slider is consistent?
He is a four-seam fastball and cutter pitcher now and relies too much on his fastball.

Papelbon is a good example for Brian. Jonathan is also a fireballer but with a decent splitter and breaking slider.

Brian can just work on his slider and be a poor Broxton but I do not think it is his ceiling.
I heard somewhere that he wants to add another solid pitch - a two-seam fastball to get at least some ground balls. It would be a great addition to his stuff.

When Wilson's slider is on, he reminds me a lot of Rob Nen. Now he is not always consistent with it, but every pitcher has trouble with consistency with their pitches from time to time. So far this season, Wilson has had 1 bad outing. He was lights out in all the others. And while he has made all of us sweat the past couple seasons, he has also been one of the best closers in baseball the past couple seasons.

Tele, Brian Wilson threw slider only about 6% of the time last year. He is not a slider guy anymore.

He throws two fastballs now -a four-seamer and cutter. He switched to cutter because it is a pretty similar pitch and I think he can control it better. And we all know that control is an issue for him.

Brian is a good closer but he has to add an off-speed pitch. A fireballer who can mess up a hitter's timing is a real deal! Again, it would be cool if he can master a two-seamer. Anything that will make him more unpredictable and therefore less hittable would be great for the Giants.
