Dorsey reminds me of a Ben Wallace type of player

#1
Here I feel we are got the better end of the trade if it were just Landry for Martin but the fact we also got Dorsey is like icing on the cake. Sure he doesn't score much but his tough physical play reminds me of Ben Wallace when he was young.

Indeed. Joey Dorsey is a must keep for this team. Im not suggesting that he fills all of the Kings current needs in the front court. The qualities that he posseses are the exact qualities our front court is lacking.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
Dude has made a couple decent plays but come on...
Ben Wallace for a while there was the most feared defensive player in the game. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not really seeing the resemblance to a 4 time DPOY just yet.

Dorsey has some wide shoulders, first time I got to see him play that much, he looked good on the defensive side of the ball, need to give him more minutes.

Ben Wallace also was a late bloomer. He played in Italy after being undrafted. I think in time Dorsey can become a very good defensive big. But time will tell.

Dude, while some poeple are going a bit overboard with their claims, Ben Wallace was not a DOPY in his 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even his 5th year in the league.

On top of that, he was undrafted, then played in europe, was traded around a few times before becoming one of the best defensive players in the league!

While he might be unlikely to every reach Ben Wallace level, its not out of the question either.

I like this guy a lot. He also looks like a mini Dwight Howard. :p
Dorsey as our mini-Dwight Howard, or mini Ben Wallace.

We already have a mini-Lebron, or some say back when we drafted Evans, we've got a poor man's version of Dwane Wade.

It seems like we're about to collect our copycat minis of Superstars. Every player we get will be like the poor-man's version of those big stars. It is scary. We might end up winning the poor mans version of the NBA championship with the kind of team we're building. :p

Good job Petrie!

Nicely done. :D

Yes he is a "Ben Wallace type of player". I think everybody knew that coming over. But he is to Ben Wallace as Taylor Swift is to country music. Little twang there, but the palest imitation (which actually in Taylor Swift's case is a good thing).

Yup. Ben Wallace is actually a really smart defender, and in his day, had a lot of leaping ability. Those are two huge differences between him and Dorsey.

I understand that, but saying he has the potential to become the best defensive player in the league is a bit ridiculous, imo. It's a major reach. I think he can definitely become a solid defender, and I also think hes built a more like Ron Artest than Dwight Howard.

Wasn't Ben Wallace a 4x DPOY ??

Comparing him to Wallace is a bit extreme imo.

Wallace had superior athleticism, good post defense, excellent help defense, would get you 1.5steals and 2.5+ blocks a game and 11+ rebounds

Yeah, it really is out of the question. Dorsey's 26 years old...when Ben Wallace was 26 he led the league in rebounding.
