How Likely Would You Trade Donte Greene?

Absolutely not. ESPECIALLY for murphy. If he was the deal breaker for Bosh or Jefferson I would maybe have to think twice but unless we are getting a LEGIT big man in return, then no chance. He is a huge part of the chemistry that this team has. JT, Reke and Donte seem like they are all boys n I would hate to see the trio get broken up.

Donte won't be traded. He has some sort of birthday ticket event going on at Arco on Feb 23rd. Definitely not for Troy Murphy, anyway.

This is just ridiculous. Absolutely not -- he may be the 2nd most promising player on our entire roster. He's half a step off untouchable, and then this as a throw in for Troy bleeping Murphy nonsense pops up. Yeah right.

Whatever Amick's blog may say I will literally have to see this happen before I would believe it. That's Indiana talking, not us.

P.S. That link leads to the same Amick blog story from 2 days ago that we already canvassed '9and poo pooed).

I voted Yes, but not for troy murphy.

If he was a deal breaker that would send Bosh, Brook Lopez, or a Blake Griffin(if he lives up to how we think he can play) then I would.. otherwise, no chance..

I understand that the trade Greene for Murphy is utterly ridiculous; my question is would you trade Greene period. I understand that anybody can be traded, but how much value would you have to get in return to deal him.

Would it take a "Bosh" like return in order to trade Donte?
Is Greene so valuable it would take more than Bosh?
Would you deal him in a package in order to get Jefferson or Stoudamire?
Or is Greene that promising that anything less than a LeBron, Carmelo, Wade, Kobe is just not going to get it done?

I have to admit that outside of the sudden explosive revelation known as Tyreke Evans, it is the promising potential of Donte Greene that has me enjoying this season of Kings Basketball. I just have a feeling that whether it is here or some where else, DG is going to contribute in this league on a high level.

I just don't think Greene should be traded (period). It would be akin to the Gerald Wallace situation. Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. NOT EVER!

Wait, where is the "What the?!?!?! HECK NO!!!!!" option?

Tyreke and Donte have the potential to be a NIGHTMARE for other teams for many years to come.

Last season I was quick to hate on Donte. He didnt really give me any reason to do otherwise, and I looked on his apologists and fans with a kind of pitying amusement. I would have said trade him for a bag of chips.

Now...No way. He's taken huge steps towards putting it all together, if he reaches his ceiling he's going to be a terror of an SF. Even if he doesnt get there, but continues his improvement, he's going to be a great rotation player, maybe even starter.

I doubt Petrie does this. If he does he should be fired immeadiately, and replaced with that head scout (the one who makes a lot of the amazing draft decisions that Petrie gets credit for).

Right now Greene is getting us excited. Coach is still yanking and benching him when he repeats being stupid out there, so about every game sooner or later he sits for cause. I'm slow believing he is really it and I think the jury is still out on that. Right now you can get many other teams to bite on him. So the question is 'will he or won't he get over his dumb basketball behavior?' Most of our posters think he will make it. I'm not sure how good he will be. Is he worth more as trade bait now than a future star for us? I'm not sure yet. Go GP.

Of course, everyone is ultimately trade bait on the Kings except I suppose Tyreke unless we could get LeBron for him:p

Donte came over in a trade for Artest that also landed draft pick that resulted in selection of Omri. Can't we just be happy with that "future" for a little while longer??

Trading Donte would be a devastating blow to this team's future. The only scenario I could imagine trading Donte would be for a still-in-his-prime star on a decent sized contract. I would not trade Donte for a 30-game rental of Bosh. If it were a sign-and-trade I'd have to consider it depending on the rest of the pieces.

I don't think there is any way that Petrie trades Donte. Donte has shown an...eagerness to be a defensive stopper. And it looks as if his ability to potentially guard players from Kobe to Amare is something which could be a major factor in a King's Championship down the line if he can continue to hone that ability. All of his other attributes from his offensive potential to his fantastic chemistry with Tyreke is just the cherry on top.

He's still young and he still makes mistakes, but I agree with everyone else who thinks that he is currently the King with the most potential to be a major impact player after Tyreke.

And the fact that I'm even saying that means a congratulations are in order for both Donte and the entire Kings coaching staff.

Well Done.

Exactly. We don't want another Gerald Wallace situation on our hands.

No. That's absolutely rediculous. Greene is, in my opinion, a more valuable asset than JT or Hawes. Super athletic guys, who also happen to be 6'11", who also happen to be able to play three positions effectively, who also are quickly becoming incredible defenders, just don't come around very often. I get it, he's not a Petrie type player. He makes some dumb decisions, his fundamentals aren't quite sound enough, and quite frankly he plays defense too well. But he has more potential than anyone on this team not named Tyreke. And while potential can be a dirty word, we're not going anywhere for a while anyway, so we might as well role the dice and hope he becomes our second star. I can guarantee you that won't be Troy Murphy (just threw up a little in my mouth).

I wouldn't trade him for Murphy, but if the right deal came along I would trade him away. He's a fine player, and has potential, but after watching him, and Casspi this year I would rather spend the time developing Casspi.

I would trade Donte Green.

I would trade him for last names including James (with first name Lebron), Wade, Bosh, Howard (first name Dwight), Anthony (first name carmelo) Durant, Paul, Williams (first name deron)....and perhaps Lopez, Rose, Beasley.

But that is the end of my list.

WOuldn't trade him for Rose since we already have a good PG from Memphis and the better one to boot. I'd have to think hard about Beasley though

Brendan Haywood, Amare, Dalembert and Iggy are all involved in trade talks, but we're going after Troy Murphy? It's like they're trying to kill the fanbase.

Donte is not untouchable, but he is not a throw in. If the right deal came along, I would consider it, but we would be having to get a superstar back for it to be worthwhile. Donte is a part of our future core.

Obviously you can trade him if the big man Tyreke side-kick deal comes up that we want. Definitely let him go for Bosh and probably for Noah or Love as well.

I wouldn't trade him for Love. Noah, maybe. Noah's a scrappy guy and tall to boot with better defensive skills than Hawes and JT combined. Love is short and stubby, albeit skilled and a good rebounder, who can't really play D. Now if we were trading for Al Jeff...
