Rookie/Sophmore T-Mobile Challenge

I would have thought that was it, except they showed a video of Durant hoisting the MVP trophy a few years back when he scored 46, and hadn't the Sophomores won like 6 in a row coming in?

Anyway, I'm cool with the way it worked out. Regardless of the stats, Tyreke was the player out there who showed the most special, so another trophy in the bag, more profile raising for him and us. More lock on the ROY. And a nice class gesture with Blair to up the ole popularity. All good.
That was totally Classy! He showed more class in that one gesture than Pau Gasol did the whole time he was running his mouth!!! I also noticed NO Fakers on the floor for either squad! Sure the Fakers can buy their team by going over the cap and outspending everyone else, but that doesn't always work out! (see Yankees...) Teams like Oklahoma and Sacramento showed young talent being cultivated to be the FUTURE of the League !! I am glad that 'REKE shared that Trophy in spirit with the way Blair played in that game. 22 points and 23 rebounds, that is no joke! Blaire wins that trophy if Tyreke didn't have a PHENOMENAL game like he did!! I'd be willing to bet that there are more than a few GM's that watched this game and called their medical staff to chew them out after watching that Magnificent display by Blair! Cartilage or no cartilage, the Kid played like a veteran player! He dominated Brook Lopez AND Kevin Love. I would LOVE to have BLAIR on OUR TEAM!! He was a rebounding MACHINE who more than held his own against much bigger players on the East team. The East Coast Biased announcers kept saying the SOPH team has a huge advantage inside, but in reality that was where they were weakest! Blair and Jerebko MORE than held their own! Exciting game for Sacramento AND Oklahoma fans! And Spurs Fans must be pretty proud too!

What are you talking about dude? I heard Pau say some good things about Reke. I don't remember him saying anything bad about Reke at all.
Everyone who commented (Superman, Nate, etc.) was going gaga over Reke while Pau was a bit more subdued in his praise - but it was pretty high praise. He said he was not very explosive (I guess he meant super fast) but went on to say Evans was a major force when he slashed inside, etc.

You know, I could feel that. Same way you could feel Eddie Johnson doing the same thing in that Phoenix telecast. Not the same thing as dogging. But definitely makes you wonder about agendas sometimes.

Maybe I overemphasized it a little. He was not showering praise on Reke either. He kinda glossed over 'Reke's accomplishments to talk more about his brother's exploits. I guess that is to be expected since it IS his brother, but it seems to me that all the other "Guests" were MUCH more impressed with 'REKE than Pau was. Like Bricklayer said, that "Not Explosive" comment kinda sounded like a dig or a backhanded insult. He was more than explosive tonight. Maybe if his brother was more EXPLOSIVE, HE would have gotten the trophy.

Who led the teams in dunks? Omri had 3 that I remember or maybe 4. The first was a left-handed baseline facial to posterize Galinari big-time. His last one was also a left-handed throw down. Man-kid had an excellent all-star game and represented the Kings just a well as our MVP Tyreke.

The only thing that Pau said that was remotely a negative is that Reke always goes to his right. Which is a fair observation.
He also said that he was NOT explosive. OK Guys, maybe I was a little too much put off by Pau's comments. Maybe it's because he is a Faker, and the way he talked about 'Reke was far less flattering than the other guests that spoke of 'Reke's special talents. I guess I was being a little oversensitive because he is a Faker, and I was looking for anything that he might say to knock the play of 'Reke. "Not Explosive" "Goes to the Right". He seemed to pick out the bad and didn't emphasize the good. I guess it was too much to expect a Faker to EVER praise a Kings Fan. The Rivalry seems to still be flickering....

I totally agree! Cassipi showed up very nicely and really showed the NBA that the Kings have young talent that is going to only get better and better. I think that the league will be hearing from these 2 players for years to come!! Those were some WICKED dunks and that Facial on Galinari was poster material!

he always goes to his right... gee and they still CANT stop him.. wait till he starts going to his left
and as EVERYBODY says, wait 'til the day he develops an outside jumper. Of course he has one, and at age 20 it's already pretty decent. If he even comes anywhere near pure shooter class of a Stephon Curry (or our own Kevin Martin) as opponents FEAR - Tyreke Evans will be simply un-guardable. Sort of like they were saying about LeBron James' outside shot when he was a rook and thereafter for his first few years in the league. On another amazing Reke note: The kid is shooing 79% from the line so far this season. LeBron struggled mightily from the stripe early on in his NBA career - really up until just the last couple of years.

Did not look comfortable after half when it broke down into a one on one stat padding affair. Think that was how he ended up 5-14. First half he looked good. After half with everybody just dribbling down and shooting Omri seemed to get caught up in that because hey, nopbody was goign to pass it to him otherwise, and it was scruffy.

That's the second time in one week that Gallo got posterized by Omri if I remember correctly.

The more and more I watched tonight, I hate Jennings game more and more. Yes, he is a good shooter but I knew what type of game he would show tonight. I know I am biased but I just can't stand the dude. Plus the haircut from the Kid and Play days has got to go. To much of a sideshow to me.

Jennings kind of reminded me of a shorter, faster, Nocioni with a goofy haircut. He was just as stupid, annoying, and eager to wear out his elbows shooting.

Quotes from Tim Legler:

Tyreke Evans: A+

The league's best rookie didn't disappoint as evidenced by his MVP award. Nice gesture sharing it with DeJuan Blair. He just gets it. He has the body, game, and demeanor of a star. His vision and playmaking were vastly underrated coming out of college.

Omri Casspi: B

This guy is one of my favorite rookies. He isn't getting a lot of attention on a nose-diving Kings team, but he has a really nice game. Showed some hops with a sweet lefty dunk early and never looked like he didn't belong.

he's a good shooter? LOL he's shooting under 40% for the year i believe. He's a bit cocky but i don't hate him though.
