I think I now understand why Jason tries to do too much too fast on the block. He doesn't recognize when the help defender comes to double him, which is why he is often blocked or gets picked and he looks oblivious. The times he does see the double, he doesn't react correctly. So, when he is looking to score, he wants to make sure he gets the shot off before any double might come, so he tries too hard and ends up with wild shots.
thats true, i hadnt thought about that but he does rush it when he doesnt have to and takes his time when he needs a quick move.

ROFLMAO. ANOTHER LANE VIOLATION??? This team has no discipline. That's the second one this game and I believe the fourth one within the past few games.
To be fair, a lane violation could be called on every FT attempt every game. It's up to the refs to enforce it, but they rarely do.

who ever said westphal was a moron obviously didnt watch...

muss
theus
NATT

were asking westphal to make lemonades out of pineapples... he's no miracle worker folks. but he is doing his job with the team.

Yep. He's playing the cards he was dealt. Its far to easy to criticize the coach when things aren't going well.

When it came to those guys, I called the Maloofs and GP the morons.

I actually like his mish-mash lineups for this reason:

other coaches get so fixated in specific floor units that they don't ever adjust to the moment in the game. That was one of my biggest issues with Rick, was that he rarely used his bench when his favorite starters were struggling.

Westy isn't perfect, but he's also not afraid to play anybody who he feels will produce. At the same time, he's not quick on the trigger to yank players off the court when they mess up. I like that about him, and I like that he uses what depth he has to his advantage. I would like to see more Donte and Beno though.

I feel sorry for Donte, because I would like to see him get more PT. We really need to make some trades to create time for our younger players

Hence the firing of Rick.
Rick was fired on an upswing though. The season started off crappy, peja was dealt for artest, they go on a run and make the playoffs and give the spurs a run for their money, and when it seemed like things were going to turn around, bam he was let go.

Donte started the game, drove the ball inside and took a wild shot near the basket. We never saw him again.

If the Jazz had Boozer and Williams and this was the score, It would have been a fine half.

The truth is, the game shouldnt even be as close as the score indicates, were playing terrible once again, and this is without Boozer and Williams.

gunks

Hall of Famer
He takes a lot of those wild shots.

Donte still needs a lot of work. With Westphal, I think he's going to have a short leash but also get a lot of chances. Same with all our young guys.

Westphal is trying to win, and develop the youth. Thats tough.

Guy is no Rick, but he's waaaaay better than Muss, Theus, and Natt...

...Although Natt was nice enough to get us Reke through his gross incompetance.

adelman wasnt fired, his contract expired and didnt get a new one from the kings... but he is/was light years ahead of westphal when it comes to playing with the cards he's dealt and succeeding. on paper we are better than the rockets, they are one the verge of making the playoffs with a 6'6 center, no yao or mcgrady... and they are 24-21. we are a dismal 16-28... it would be foolish to say that we wouldnt have a better record with adelman even with this exact same team with the exact same injuries... he wouldve made it work somehow. its probably the thing i miss the most about the old days... adelman was such a good coach we spent hours talking about how we needed more players like keon clark. he wasnt even a scrub, he was d-league before there was a d-league... but adelman made it work.

westphal isnt a bad coach but he also isnt adelman... if there is one king or former king that i will back to death its adelman.

I know, that's why I said "let go". But really, it's essentially a firing because they didn't have another valid candidate to replace him. They just wanted him gone and to start a coaching search.

Houston has no star players, but they have very solid players and more importantly, they play defense. The kings don't have that defensive presence. The Kings are not the better team on paper or on the hardwood.

I didn't say otherwise.

If you think we're at the same level as the Jazz than you're delusional. They're still more talented even with out Williams and Boozer. They're a playoff team with two former all-stars in their lineup tonight.
