Was it just me or did 'Reke kill the momentum of the segment every single time he spoke? His mubletastic style doesn't make for good television.

He is human. Seems like he gets put on the spot and has some problems answering the questions but I don't really mind if Reke isn't the best public speaker in the world. As long as he can ball like he is now I'm happy!

I think he was a little nervous. Standing up in front of a TV camera in street clothes is a lot different than playing a game you love with the cameras in the background.

I believe it has been said on this blog before, but I wouldn't care if he spoke Cantonese, Chinese, or Pig Latin for that matter as long as he keeps hooping it up the way he has! It's not really important his ROOKIE year how well he speaks. I am sure if he keeps playing the way he has, he will have ample time to practice on his diction. In fact, I am sure he will be able to brush up on his acceptance speech for the R.O.Y. presentation. Somebody please get that man a teleprompter!! If it's good enough for the President, it'll be just fine for 'REKE !!!

p.s. sactownfan....PURE FAIL?? I mean shucks, I'm as hard on Hawes as anyone on this blog, but PURE FAIL is harsh. At least He's trying. You can see there is effort. PURE FAIL would be riding the pine because of a total lack of effort (like Sean May). I'd be the first to say that Hawes is on the precipice of being a total bust, but to say he is "PURE FAIL" is to say there is no hope at all for him.

I'm not a Hawes apologist, but Centers and Point Guards usually take longer to develop in the NBA. If Hawes was still in college, he's be a senior this year. He hasn't physically developed as a MAN yet. He hasn't even stopped growing yet, if you can believe that! He needs to hit the weight pile non stop for the next few years and add 25-35 lbs of muscle upper and lower body to compete in the NBA. He is just TOO THIN to WIN. If he were to get a decent trainer and really get after it and hit the weights, he could easily become a Chris Kaman type of player. But he needs to put in a LOT more work to get to that level. He hasn't shown that level of commitment yet, but there is still time for this kid to pull his near death career outta the gutter. BUT you have to give the Kid a year or 2 more before tossing him into the "PURE FAIL" pile! I mean he can barely even buy a freekin beer for crying out loud! The next year or 2 will be the make or break years for Spencer Hawes. Personally, I dont believe he has the intestinal fortitude to do it. I believe he is going to be a bust, but I wont put him in the "PURE FAIL" (aka in no particular order... Michael Olowokandi, Darko Milicic, Kwame Brown, Stromile Swift, Jonathan Bender, Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Sam Bowie, Jon Koncak, CHRIS WASHBURN, LaRUE MARTIN, Adonal Foyle, Ed O'Bannon, Joe Kline, Kent Benson, Rick Robey, Robert Traylor, Rafael Araujo, Bill Garnett, the entire 2000 lottery class, and apparently Greg Oden) dumpster just YET IMHO.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't C-Webb and the Fab 5 pretty much responsible for the longer shorts the guys wear today?

you are 100% correct... Fab 5 all the way... trend setters

You are not %100 correct. Jordan also played a key roll. He actually wore the baggy shorts before the Fab 5
Yeah, I kinda thought MJ started the trend as well, by wearing shorts that were longer than the standard length in the 80's, but not to the length we see today. I thought that the Fab five just finished it by going a thousand miles longer with their shorts :p.

Evans is a soft-spoken, humble dude. I could care less how shy he is in front of a camera. He. Is. A. Beast.

Reke is a young young guy. You have no idea how intimidating it is to be on camera. I was put on the spot by a camera crew once and I stuttered and folded like a house of cards. Very very embarrassing.
Our rooks are our future and we should have their backs. Good showing on NBA TV fellas!

Reke did fine. He does better than Frank Gore from the 49ers. And at least he doesn't turn into that "boom goes the dynamite" fellow from a few years back. Man that guy choked!
