Yes Tyreke Evans is incredible. There is no doubt in my mind he wins ROY, and we're extremely fortunate to have landed a goldmine at PG. And yes, Omri Casspi has exceeded all reasonable expectations and performed at a level of a top 5 or 6 rookie in the league. His shooting percentages are unreal at his age, andI think we found ourselves the steal of the draft when it's all said and done.
That all being said, I think that Jason Thompson is having a fantastic sophomore campaign and deserves a lot more credit and recognition from the Kings faithful and the national media for this team's dramatic turnaround from last season. 15.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, and 1.1 bpg on .515 from the field are numbers that few others of his age and size are putting up right now.
He has gotten much improved on finishing around the basket the last handful of games - something he got a lot of heat for, and rightfully so - and he seems to be playing with a level of consistency and composure recently that leaves me to think the "chicken with his head" rap he gets should be reconsidered.
His jumper's much more consistent then it was to start the season, his arsenal of post moves is much more polished and controlled then it once was, and he still always gives 100% on the court every game I've watched.
Now I get we have some pretty damn impressive rookies. And they are fun to watch. But Thompson, in my mind, has played an intregal part in our turnaround and should be seen in a spotlight not much dimmer than Tyreke's.
We've got ourselves at least a 18-10-2-1 PF for many years to come, and I just think he should be acknowledged for his stepped-up performance this year maybe a little more than he's getting.
So here's to you, JT.
