[drupal=115]It's here! It's here![/drupal]

Much like a kid who starts counting the days until Christmas right after the 4th of July, a lot of us have been tapping our feet, whistling and watching the clock on the wall...waiting for the end to TDOS, the dreaded off-season, the time all Kings fans endure but not with a great amount of patience.

Finally, our prayers have been answered and our wishes have come true.

On Wednesday, Oct. 28 the season will start for Kings fans as our new young team with our new coach will take the court against the Oklahoma City Thunder. An away game to start the season? But of course. Apparently the dart board that has the option for the Kings to actually start the season at home in Arco has been misplaced.

We here at Kingsfans.com want to welcome back those of you who were gone for the summer, and say "Hi again" to those who stuck around for the draft threads, the debate and discussion about things like Rubio v. Evans and everything else that keeps people returning to our board on a regular basis.

We would also like to welcome those of you who have recently joined our merry band. We say hello to our friends from Israel who found us when we found their countryman Omri Casspi in the draft. We say hello to the fans of Sergio, Jon, the aforementioned Tyreke, Sean May and Desmond Mason, all of whom also donned Kings jerseys for the first time this season.

We're a congenial bunch of folks around here but don't let that fool you. We have some of the best and brightest basketball minds in cyberspace posting here on a regular basis. We're a family-oriented board, which means you get to debate your subjects without profanity or smack. We've got game discussion threads for each game, we have a resident analyst extraordinaire who will provide grades after each game. We even have a prediction game - just for fun - where you can try and predict what the members of the Kings will do in any given game. We have discussion of current topics such as the ongoing arena talks, and we have talk about things going on around the league and in other sports.

Our board is set up in a forum format which means topics are separated for ease of discussion. Be sure and check each forum as there's bound to be something to catch your interest.

We do not have advertising. We depend upon Contributing Members to help defray the costs of keeping Kingsfans.com up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings internet community.

I generally start out each season with the same message: I LOVE THIS TEAM! and this year is no different. I love the anticipation, I love the potential, I love the idea of seeing young players starting to come into their own as legitimate members of the NBA.

Now, let's get ready for some Kings basketball!

And to renew a chant long heard in Arco Arena:

LET'S GO KINGS!!!

Indeed it IS here! The team we all love to a fault, and hope that they can gell into something resembling a complete unit...someday...soon, hopefully. And yes, the NBA dart board has replaced the Kings opening the season at Arco option with the 'you'll take your lumps on the road to start the season and you'll like it' option. But I think a guy named Tyreke might hopefully have something to do in changing how the NBA and the rest of the league views the Kings. Bring it on!

I'm so excited to get the season started and to see live games on an actual TV! I hate that the Kings are opening on the road for the sixth year, I think. [No fair Mr. Stern.]

That cannot dampen my fervor for my team, tho.

LETS GO KINGS! :)

the kings have a rough season ahead of them with respect to the win/loss columns...

but they also have a lotta young talent worth watching. it will be a season of evaluation. one of my biggest questions: is spencer hawes the future at the C position for the kings? i'd like to think so, but this is likely a make-or-break year for spencer. if he pans out as well as his talent suggests he should, then the kings have three of their five starting positions solidified. kevin martin may be an unashamedly one-dimensional scorer, but he's awfully good at that one dimension. i'm expecting tyreke evans to have a rocky rookie season, but he looks to be every bit as good as advertised. it's just gonna take time for him to settle into the complicated role of starting PG in the nba. like spencer hawes, i'm not yet sold on jason thompson. i like his talent and his growth so far, but i'm not fond of his apparent ceiling. omri casspi is another exciting young talent of note, and if he's not the starting SF of the future for the kings, he's certainly looking to be a great potential sixth man...

as has been the case for a few seasons now, chemistry is going to be a concern for this team. oddly enough, these geoff petrie-constructed kings are not big on shooting. its a team composed of slashers and paint-scorers. martin can hit from downtown, and so can garcia (when he's not out for four months because of a freak injury), and casspi appears to be finding his shot, as well, but i'm not confident in this team's ability to spread the floor. the paint looks to be a bit crowded on the offensive end. and, as always, the biggest question mark for the kings exists on the defensive side of the ball...

questions abound, but there's a lot to like as the kings head into the future. i don't anticipate them winning much this season. i expect they'll be in the bottom five. so, john wall or no john wall in next year's draft, this team is only going to get younger and more talented as they continue to improve and grow together. let's just hope it all amounts to something. in the meantime, at least they'll be more fun to watch, as long as we can stomach the turnovers, defensive lapses, and losses...

:)

The idea presented in this thread is very interesting. I, for one, think that if you know you can say something, you go ahead and make sure you say it no matter what other say - which would make you not want to say what your brain wants to say, and this is definitely something that should be said about the Kings because everyone says they can't but what they really are saying is that they can, with a little bit of work. So i don't care what they say, really...

Watching the clock

I went through two pairs of shoes tapping my toe and replaced 3 sets of batteries in my clock this week waiting for this season to start. Can't wait to see what this season has in store for the Kings even though I'm not expecting much.
Let's get it on. Go Kings
