USA knocks off Spain in Confederations Cup

Wish I hadn't missed this match. Must admit I gave our boys no chance in this game. Spain had been playing very well and the US...well, not so much.

USA...USA....USA....USA....USA!!!

What a game! I too gave them no chance against the mighty spaniards. The #1 team in the world? Cmon! The US came out attacking. Something they seem to never do in big games. They finally played big when they had to!
USA! USA!

I love the way USA moved forward aggressively with an all out attack against mighty Spain - not being intimidated and on the constant defensive. The Spanish had won something like 32 straight matches. USA will have to tangle with Brasil who beat Italy 3-0 in a very impressive performance yesterday which I also saw most of. Brasil is the ultimate attacking team with their unique style and as they say 'beautiful play' on the field of the 'beautiful game.'

To be honest with you guys, I am extremely surprised ... I have never respected USA football team but now I will go and look at their roster, and learn some new names. Confederations Cup is a ****ty one and no European nation really cares about it BUT it does not mean that this win is nothing. It is more than something because this Spain is a great team - no more, no less! Wins like that are great for football (soccer) in America. Well done, my friends!

BC - I just noticed your signature. I guess I must be one of the ones who know little... ;)

Without cheating, I'll give it a go. I had a french exam a couple weeks ago so I might be able to get the jist of it.

Généralement, les gens qui savant peu parlent becoup, et les gens qui savant beaucoup parlent peu.

Generally, the people who know a little speak alot, and the people who know alot speak a little.

I'm good, aren't I? :p

Well done to the US on beating Spain. Spain are a great team. Didn't get to see it all but from what I hear, Spain were dominant for most of the game? Altidore scored early, and Dempsey scored against the run of play later on in the game. Still, though, well done to USA.

Brazil won't be easy. I'm predicting a 3-0 Brazil win, but then again, I didn't give the US any chance against Spain, so who knows!

You need a lot of luck to beat teams like Spain and Brasil.
Take it from someone who watches a lot of USA futbol. The US usually withdrawls and tries to grind out a 1-0 loss just to make it look somewhat respectable against the top tier teams. That is why US fans are totally suprised. I think it was a combination of Spain overlooking the US and then the US attacking and suprising Spain. I don't think Spain expected that. Unfortuantely Brasil won't be caught flatfooted. 3-1 Brasil.
