my re-pick:
Anthony Kiedis -Red Hot Chili Peppers (Rythm Guitar, Back Up Vocals)

I need to get someone from the Chili Peps in my band, and though the dynamic that comes with this pick is a little different then what i'm going for, I can't pass up such a beautiful lyricist. Not to mention his stage presence is awesome.

Very tough choice for me here. I hope my next guy falls to me.

Almost went with this guy in the last draft, so I guess I have to start off with him this time around. Getting my lead vocalist out of the way, and taking:

Chris Cornell - Lead Vocalist (Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple of the Dog)

Pretty sure he can play guitar and drums too...but for now I'm just gonna call him lead vocalist.

I was in a hard position here because I have no idea where Cornell or my potential next pick stands with the rest of you guys. But truth be told, Cornell is probably my favorite vocalist, and I didn't really wanna risk losing him.

Sting - Bass and vocals (The Police)

I could agonize a little more over this, but the formula is tried and true from last time.... a hall of fame bassist with some name brand cache who can even write a song or two and front the band when it is his turn.

Feels a little like deja vu all over again, but this guy can support any direction I find myself needing to go.

With my first overall pick, I select: Joan Jett (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar)

The attitude, the voice, the look! Joan has it all. She is an icon of rock. 'Nuff Said.

This draft started up quick. I wasn't even at a computer all yesterday

I'll take a front man to start my group off

Mike Patton - Lead vocals (from Faith No More, Mr. Bungle)

I'm not sure how many of you know this guy, but he is a very dynamic vocalist. In a given song he can be in falsetto range, go down to a low yell, and then finish a verse off with a rap (if you've ever heard the song "Epic" by Faith No More, by far their best known song, you'll know what I'm talking about). He's got huge range and he'll fit the direction I'm going perfectly.

Geez, fast moving draft eh? Just checked in this morn and figured I'd have till at least tom.

Well, I have got my pix all figured out. I am still working on my strategy for order. Go with my lead to ensure the concept or go with the rhythm section because the selection is already riddled?

I'll be right back...........

Question:

I thought I had it all figured out but just noticed my drummer is off the list. I have a couple of options, but they both have played with another of my potential picks in real life. So my end product will have two members that were in at least one band together, the overall concept will vary from these bands. Is this acceptable or against the spirit?

Why not?

Well, I was originally trying to avoid this because it seems against the concept. At this point, I am feeling the end result will be different enough to see if I can get away with it. Please note that I am not talking about "signature" partnerships that resemble Plant and Page or Lennon and McCartney type status.

Damn, I was hoping to snag him next round. Nice pick.

I had both Grohl and Cobain last year, and while there were some lame snide remarks about remaking Nirvana, I figured Grohl's extensive career post-Nirvana more than made up for it. Depends somewhat on who you're picking, but it's not against the spirit by any means I'd say.

I am feeling good about jumping on one of the last great drummers available.

Terry Bozzio - Drums and Percussion

He has played with Frank Zappa, UK, Missing Persons, Jeff Beck, Korn, Fantomas and Debbie Harry. His ability to play ever so hard and ever so soft will cater perfectly to the dynamics of my band.

wiki
Bozzio was born in California to Italian American parents... He made his name recording and touring with Frank Zappa (and appearing in the concert movie Baby Snakes), and then the band UK. After his audition for Zappa, all the drummers behind him in the line left, and he was accepted.....

Bozzio went on to form Missing Persons with his then-wife and lead vocalist Dale Bozzio, ex-Zappa guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, ex-Zappa bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboard player Chuck Wild. ......

Bozzio is also noted for creating orchestral compositions on the drum set by playing polyrhythms and metric modulations while utilizing his large custom kit (sometimes nicknamed "SS Bozzio"), in which the tom toms are tuned to specific notes to create the atmosphere that is Bozzio’s signature sound. Terry Bozzio’s influence has been seen in some of the most prominent drummers of today including Marco Minnemann, Thomas Lang, Mike Mangini and Chris Utter.....

The "SS Bozzio" is often just as amazing, to onlookers of his performances, as the drummer himself. His kit has evolved from a fairly standard large drum set, akin to that of Neil Peart, including various sound effects and the standard drum arrangements, to his current setup which includes more than 10 pedals to operate various percussion devices and dozens of drums to achieve his melodic drum parts.
I actually did not realize that The Missing Persons had three members of Zapa's band. Weird.

This is definitely fine. It is your band after all, so feel free to use members of the same real life band if you wish:).

With my first pick, I choose one of Rock's most iconic vocalists and arguably its definitive front man.

Mick Jagger- Lead Vocals/Strutting

Beyond simply influential, Jagger set the template for generations of rock singers to follow. His indelible vocals, unmatched charisma and energy, and ownership of the stage make him the very definition of a rock star.

Shoot. For some reason I had convinced myself that Dave Grohl was taken last year as a front man and I was getting myself all ready to make an argument as to why I should be able to take him on drums and backup vocals. But, alas... shoot.

In any case, my first pick coming up shortly...

Okay, since I've got to think up a new drummer, I'll start off with my lead vocals:

Josh Homme - lead vocals/rhythm guitar
-- Josh actually plays multiple instruments (including bass, drums, and keyboard), and I imagine my band would make use of those talents, but for the purpose of the draft he's stuck on rhythm. Mostly choosing him as a frontman because his voice is versitile enough that he should fit any of the styles I'm still considering. Also, I just think he's wicked cool.
