^ Why the offense doesn't look for Hawes to post up on the block is beyond my understanding. Hawes has become what the offense makes him. If they don't want a soft, face up big man, then they need to stop having him set screens at the 3 point line and then move out to wait for a jumpshot. It's the offense, not the player.
Unfortunately, at least for now, I think it's beyond their understanding, too. It's clear they haven't worked on or focused any real attention on working Hawes out of the low post. I totally agree it's something that needs to be done, especially since his half-hook appears to be looking better and better. Timmy Duncan has had pretty good success with his half-hook out of the low post and I think it's a shot Hawes can utilize to a lot better advantage in the future...

Yes I know but Hawes seems to waft around the perimeter

Ok well im sorry for hoping for my team to win its 1st game with its new crew i apologize for rooting for my team and believing they ca beat dalls my bad
Whoa there, nobody here is telling you you can't root for your team. We are all here because we love this team. You can believe the Kings can win and cheer and hope for them to win all you want and it still won't change other people's minds on here who don't want to lose our spot in the lottery. I'm sure they respect your opinion, no need to get hostile.

Again, he has to come out to set a screen, which comprises most of the offense. Most of the sets they run are high screens. He will either waft around waiting for an open look, or move low to set another pick. When he occasionally does pin his man and call for the ball, his teammates don't give it to him. If the offense was designed to be an inside-out offense, there wouldn't be that problem.

There aren't many skilled bigs who can score on the block, and the kings have been needing that post presence on both ends of the court for some time. They finally have that potential in Hawes, and are wasting it.

You expected the Kings to win with the new crew on their FIRST game? Wow. The new players have barely said Hi to their new team mates. Sorry, to say this, you might need to wait a few more games before the Kings "might" win a game with this new Kings team.

I understand, but he's a rookie and he's not going to get the special treatment like other star players. He needs to just shut up and play.
EXACTLY!!!!

JT has not earned the right to even question one call, let alone every single call that is made. What he's going to end up, if he keeps opening his yap, is a reputation as a whiner - and he'll get NO calls. Look at how Brad Miller was treated. Because of his reputation for whining and pouting, he could have been hit with a chair and not have the call go his way. This year was the proof...he wasn't arguing and he still couldn't get a call because the refs didn't give him any kind of respect. Jason is gonna hopefully be our power forward in the future. We need him to get past the "He hit me!" stuff and just shut up, suck it up and play. Let his game speak for him and not try and argue something. The next call the officials overturn will be the first one...

:)

Nocioni really knows how to guard that Nowitzki fadeaway. Im just about sick of seeing him pull that move with ease one every single person who gaurds him.
We did have one player who gave Nowitzki fits. Peja did about as good a job guarding Dirk Nowitzki as any other player in the league.

piksi

Hall of Famer
best way to guard Irk is to attack him on the other side. What is the point of complaining about the refs when You are down big against the superior team. The worst team in the NBA is playing @ a PO contender in the West. It is clear that the refs will be the way they are

It's human nature, every player complains if they think they are in the right.

I don't believe JT has a Tech this season yet...well from the games I've seen.

It's not as simple as never saying a word and continuing to play if you get mugged.

If that happened I'd worry that they didn't care.

Of course if he complains every call then that would be too much.

I wonder if Donte doesn't perform well in practice. Maybe he has an attitude with the coaches we aren't aware of? I'm not sure what it is, but he just can't seem to find time on the court no matter the circumstances. Sure, he has shaky moments, but he also shows a lot of promise. I'm just not sure what it takes to get him in the game...

On a side note, i'm finally up to 100 posts. Watch out VF, I'm only 59,172 away ;)

I'm in total and complete agreement with Rockmeister. Jason DOES complain about every single call. And it's not just body language. He says something to the official almost every time his number is called... And it's way too much for a veteran, let alone a rookie. He hasn't been t'd up because he doesn't curse or anything else but he complains and whines and uses body language that indicates his disbelief and disappointment. It's very childish - and is worse even than some of the posturing the brave little soldier does.

It's so noticeable my mother, who knows very little about things like that, has actually commented that he seems to whine a lot.
