Next up is the All-Star game.

Dunk Contest

Sums it up.

3 Point Shootout
Second year player Daequan Cook ended Kapono's reign of terror. Not really, Kapono looked bad out there and didn't even make it to the finals. He had only 14 points. Mike Bibby also did terrible with 14 points as well.

This was probably one of the worst 3 point shoot outs I've ever seen. No one cracked the 20 point barrier, they barely cracked 15. The only thing that saved this event was Cook coming back in the second round to force a third between him and Rashard Lewis. Lewis only had 7 in that final round. Good for Cook tough.

Skills Challenge
Derek Rose took the trophy and made it look easy. He was so smooth he looked like he was just going trough the motions. Almost had a perfect final round and had so much time left he decided to finish with a reverse dunk so hard that could have scalped the top of his head.

Tony Parker not making himself look good at all and needed several chances to complete all the passes and the top of the key jump shot. He holds the two slowest times in the events history. Eva was not pleased.

Shooting Stars Challenge
Detroit wins for the second time. Phoenix had a good chance to win in the finals when they had 20 seconds extra to hit the final half court shot but they couldn't finish. Why do they keep bring back the same 3 teams of LA, San Antonio and Detroit?

Horse (GEICO)
Started out real slow and players were stiff. Playing outdoors didn't help any either. OJ Mayo hit a shot from the upper level stand to get the crowd into it. Kevin Durant was one away from elimination but he hit a behind the back board left handed lay up and started to loosen up.

From then on it wasn't fair for Mayo and Joe Johnson. Durant couldn't make any of Joe Johnson's between the leg lay ups but killed them with what he knew best, a barrage of deep ranged shots. Once he heated up it wasn't fair. He was then presented with the trophy of a Barbie Horse with a Gieco and All-Star sticker on it.

Rookie Challenge
Rookie Challenge game is next, coaches are Dwyane Wade (rookies) and Dwight Howard (sophomores).

Kevin Durant broke Lebron James scoring record of 36 with 46 points.

With actual ball players this game should be less boring than usual.

Off the backboard dunk from TO followed by a 60's style Batman sound effect and graphic on the screen.

Chris Tucker talking smack to Kara Lawson haha!

Nancy Liebermen has decided to join the game for the East.

Michael Rapaport is hitting, shoving and trash talking to anyone in his face. It's hilarious. He has 7 fouls.

I missed the MTV Rock and Jock game, with the 20 point basket over the normal basket.

CWebb made that behind the back dunk look too easy.

Karma gets Rapaport as he trips backwards on the 3 point line.

The 4th quarter is actually competitive and funny thanks to the Globetrotters.

John Barry falls over his chair because he thought the Globetrotter bucket was full of water. HAHA!!!

Thunder Dan with the turnover passing it to a Globetrotter (they didn't wear different colors). Game over. Highest scoring celebrity game ever. East wins by 3.

My son-in-law suggested that, for his final dunk, Dwight Howard grab Nate Robinson and, while holding him under one arm, dunk on the high basket with the other arm...

I have no doubt he could probably do it.

Cheryl Miller bothers me so much.

Dwight 'dropped the ball' with that last dunk!

Nate was the right choice given the last two dunks.

But only because Superman allowed himself to be used as a prop... if, in fact, Robinson pulls it out. I'd vote for Howard, but I don't have a cell phone...

Next year's contest could be VERY interesting!

Lex Luthur with his kryptonite suit and ball has defeated Superman.

Nate Robinson won because Dwight let him dunk over him. The second round saved the dunk competition from being a disaster thanks to Dwight and Robinson's collaboration.

Dwights free throw line dunk was weak and not impressive, a bunch of the guys I was watching it with were leaning torwards voting for Dwight but after that, everyone, including myself, voted for Nate

I really think the contest needs to be expanded to 6 people and three rounds.

Or at the very least 5 people, and a three dunk round one.

This format seems to brief and unimportant.

And since star-power is returning to it with LBJ, Howard (Hopefully) and Robinson hanging around some more significance should be given to it.

If Howard would have used the superbasket in his last dunk, he would have won. It's almost as though he wanted to share it or something...

I can't say the worst.
5'9 Nate Robinson taking down the unbeatable Superman was freaking awesome!
After last year, there was no way Howard was going down!
Throw in Nate's Green-Kryptonite theme aaand....
...

However, anti-climatic? Definitely.
This contest would have been 100% awesome had Howard done something crazy like the hold Robinson under his arm dunk.
Or any other dunk that made Howard seem out of this world.

Howard just made the Wrong choice with a triple capitol "W."

Thats funny because I had the exact same thought going through my head except I figured it'd be on the regular hoop. It woulda been cool if they both woulda helped each other out with the final round dunks, although Howard holding Robinson would be kind of embarassing for Nate.

That final dunk was strange. I thought he was going to jump 3 feet behind the free throw line or throw the ball off the backboard and jump from the free throw line. Even Brent Barry's dunk was better than that.

Either way I still don't think they should get more than 2 shots at the dunk. It's very anti climatic when they sit there and try it 10 times. Like Rudy Fernandez's dunk would have been really cool if he could have hit it on the first try. But after 9 tries it was old and everyone was pretty much over it whether he made it or not. Hence the low score..
