Breaking: Artest Traded to Houston

#91
Say what you want about Ron, that's a whole different story. But it amuses me how many people on this board are happy that we got (more than likely) two late round first round picks and a scrub for Ron. It just seems to me there were better deals out there.

Overall, its a good deal for Ron, he gets to reunite with Adelman.....and Yao/McGrady/Artest/Scola makes these guys a pretty serious team.
Being insane is always an X-Factor in personnel decisions. If your the GM that takes on Artest and he goes "RonRon" on someone it's your ***...

Sorry to hear that the first rounder may not be happening, since I'm not sure whether Greene is what the roster needs or not. But hey, we still unloaded Artest, so I can't complain.

Unless there is another trade coming up where we trade two players for one, which seems very unlikely, then I suppose this is an end to Singletary's career as a King. Unless SAR retires... *knock on wood*
Greene is a yong SF that CAN swing to PF at times. he is quick, athletic, and has a good shot and loads of potential. I think ANY roster could use that.

It's way, way too early to be counting roster spots at this point.

Why shouldn't they be happy? Artest's value has been in the toilet for a long time and he keeps making it worse. He doesn't do anything for us as a now rebuilding franchise, getting two late firsts and an expiring is just what the doctor ordered. We're lucky to get even that. This is a very good trade and every kings fan should be happy. I'll take this over Odom any day, Odom would be just a glorified expiring for us. Now at least we get some nice rebuilding pieces in Greene and a pick in the 20's next year.

A scrub? Donte Greene is very good, just because ron is your new buddy i guees your show is gonna be negative about the kings as usual. you and sean can be all sarcastic as usual...ugh.

Expiring, Very good young player and 1st round pick? What else do you freaking want?

And LMAO at Dave for saying it "seems" to him that there were better deal. Why because thats what the rumors say? Oh please, You will eat your words when you watch Greene just like you said we should have drafted Acie law instead of Hawes. Cant wait for your Little show/ron love.

I really try. It was just so hard for me because the idiot came hunting for me. It wasn't even that i didn't agree with opinion...he purposely hunted me down in the Kings forum just to make me look stupid. I was so mad at the time i didn't care for the forum limits. Im going to hunt him down when im unbanned and make him look stupid for anything he posts now, and im gonna keep it within the rules. I'll show him.

Really good trade for both sides. RonRon gets to help the Rockets get to the championship level with a coach who knows him, Kings get BJax, a big time fan favorite who can score in bunches and has the know how to help the 1/2 kids AND is an expiring, Donte Greene is a real upside for a 3 and a Rockets first round, likely to be down around 25 or so AND some cap relief AND a really young and talented team.

I like it. Now time to move on. I kinda hope that is the last trade as I think Brad is critical to the team for his experience and he has a chance to have a second season like last while Hawe, Thompson and crew get their game together.

Heard about it at our favorite watering hole Stockton Bridge Grill over the water at Capitola Beach. Both me and Mrs. CD were elated. :D

This deal doesn't particularly excite me. The only good thing I see is the 1st round pick next year.

Donte Greene has potential, but that's it at this point, potential. Shelden Williams had potential to, so that doesn't excite me. Maybe he'll be good in a couple years, maybe not. At least he's on the rookie pay scale.

Bring Bobby Jackson doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. He's a good time guy and an expiring, and he is a solid backup, and could start for Udrih if he got hurt....but I want young guys playing.

I'd rather throw Singletary out as a backup. We also have Bobby Brown signed. Another move has to be made to rid us of Douby. We have a log jam at point guard now.

Ehh...I'm very blah over this. I hope another team throws a better deal on the table now knowing that this trade is eminant. But, it also shows that we'll trade Artest straight up which lessens bargaining for KT to go as well.

Amick updated his blog a little bit, he says that some Kings will be traded to Houston but aren't expected to be kept. Douby? Singletary?

He's still reporting the deal as Greene AND the first, so let's hope it stays that way.

Confirmed or sorts nbrans: The Houston radio shows I'm listening too now report "other players may be involved." It does seem the Kings are getting "a player who cannot be named until Aug. 14" plus "a future first round pick."

I don't think you have been following Kleiza very closely -- the guy dropped 40 on somebody last year. I prefer the limitless potential of Green's youth, but Kleiza is no scrub, and at the ripe old age of 23 has some statistical similarities at the same age to a groundbound shooter we had around here once upon a time.
And Tony Delk dropped 50+ one game. Your point?

I never said Kleiza is a scrub. A scrub, to me, is someone who barely gets minutes or get some mins on a bad team. He's a career bench player/spot starter. Nothing wrong with that.

And I hope by "groundbound shooter" you're not comparing Kleiza to Peja. Statistically, they may be similar; in reality, Kleiza and Peja are very different players.

On sportsline they were talking with the guy that broke the story in Houston. Donte Greene is what they are saying the other player is. He can't be traded until the 14th.

The exact deal I heard was Bjax, Greene, 1st round 09 pick for Artest.

Tony Delk dropped 50 in a game before?? Dayum.....he's a baller. haha.

I hear ya, but it you read entire thread you'll find interesting nuances. The deal is not confirmed and will not be officially until Aug. 14. My questions right now are who else is involved if another King is headed to Houston, exactly how much cash (over 1 mil to Kings reported) and is it a number one draft pick next season or later (2010, etc.)??

HILARIOUS!

Rockets fans at their fan sites think they ripped off the kings. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's much like the way it was when we traded for Ron. Indy fans were like Kings fans today and Rockets fans were like Kings fans then.
The Rockets have got to know what they are in for.

I like it.

So our front line of the future is:

C-Hawes (7'0")
PF-Thompson (6'11")
SF-Greene (6'10")

I also like the fact that Theus, a young NBA coach, gets to grow and develop with a young up and coming team.

Portland vs. Sacramento in the 2011 Western Conference Finals!!! :D
