so its Bjax and Greene OR next years #1? Not both Greene and the #1. Anyway I am Sooooooo glad we didn't take back a contract. that all I asked. So

Beno/Singletary/Brown
Martin/Garcia/Douby
Salmons/Greene/Garcia
Moore/Thompson/Greene
Miller/Hawes/Moore/Thompson

More confirmation: Houston will send Greene, BJax and the money if both players pass physicals. Can't officially certify until physicals and in the case of Greene until Aug. 14. If Greene is not part of deal for any reason Kings take Rockets #1 next year. Thus, the only thing for sure is trade has been made and Artest is gone.
That's fine by me.

And I wouldn't even care if Bobby passed his physical or not. He's just here to do the Corliss, make one last ghost of a pass and retire for us. Whetehr he can play or not is irrelevant.

Now if you had told me Ron for an expiring and the #28 pick in the draft was what we were eventually going to get for him, I would have considered that an absolute bare minimum type deal, similar to what we got for Bibby. But when the #28 is a player of interest, and when the expiring is an old friend coming home to make the fans feel good, its more than good enough.

Where are you hearing this?
News radio KTRH and sports radio 610 - Houston, TX

But even they're reporting it a bit muddled as initially said it was Greene and a "future" first rounder, cash and BJax. Obviously, a trade has been made but ALL the nitty gritty details are still "unconfirmed."

Keep in mind who we're dealing with here: Ron Artest. In the perfect world, a versatile 20 ppg scorer with extreme defensive credentials could be traded for someone with similar talent. But Ron's value--through his own doing, as well as his general reputation--has been lowered to the point that the best case scenario was only to get expirings, youth and picks. And that's what we achieved. Other fans obviously see the situation through their own perspective, obviously we're getting "no-name" players while the Rockets are getting a "marquee" player, but five years down the line, we'll see who gets the last laugh.

Dang, not as big a win as effectively two #1's, but still exactly the type of deal I was hoping for. No unnecessarily taking on a longterm deal, or a vet that will get in the way of the young bigs. And we get another young piece out of it, which is so much better than the deals whose only value was getting rid of KT a year early, which is most likely irrelevant in every way other than the Maloof's wallet.

look at it this way. Had ron opted out we would have gottne nothing. Now we got veteran leader for a year and 2 1st round picks. I vote nice.

Go for another walk tommorow and see if we can swing the Miller deal. If so Kevin Martin would be the veteran on this team LOL.

Didn't the gd lakers try to get Artest for Odom? Nice to see that we can facilitate our rebuild and give the lakers the middle finger at the same time...

Vaya con dios, Artest.

That is as straightforward a way to say......it's just what we could hope for as there is.

Very nicely and simply said.

Say what you want about Ron, that's a whole different story. But it amuses me how many people on this board are happy that we got (more than likely) two late round first round picks and a scrub for Ron. It just seems to me there were better deals out there.

Overall, its a good deal for Ron, he gets to reunite with Adelman.....and Yao/McGrady/Artest/Scola makes these guys a pretty serious team.

I won't speak for others, but I'm glad this trade was made for the reason that both parties needed to move on. Addition by subtraction, I suppose. I don't think there was a trade out there where we received a player with a similar skill set in return.

Well he was a nice guy when i met him but sometimes u gotta make the move that makes the most sense too bad KT is still here that sucks but WELCOME HOME Bobby!!

Id rather have two late first rounders than the FORMER King Ron Artest. Man thats ounds good! ;)

Don't get me wrong, its time to move on and focus on the kings. Don't take my "attachment" to Ron too seriously, that was the past. From a Kings fan's standpoint, I think Bobby is being thought of as the Bobby of old, instead of simply "old Bobby".

Hell we all thought he would opt out. So this is bonus. Ron was a nice player but, we weren't going anywhere this year and Ron would leave at the end of it. Now we do get something to build toward the future. I loved Ron my post eximplify that but,....... I will just leave it at that .

Rick A. pretty much did a good job on controlling Artest when he was with the Kings. So I believe this is was a good move for the Rockets in the short run. Since after this season Bill/Ron might be looking for hefty deals which the Rockets may not have much to offer by next season. They'll have a good chance on a run for this year since Bill already knows Rick's system.

In the long run, with Bobby's expiring, and possibility of Donte in the trade youth movement is totally on a roll. Which will be a good sign for us in 2-3 years time on the playoffs. With Bobby around this season, they'll be a good veteran leader so start up the youth movement.

On a side note, I've read in a few Bulls forum some interest on dangling Douby with the possible Miller trade. They see him as a poor man's Ben Gordon.

But amidst all this trade possibilities of Miller and Artest. The winner is still Kenny Thomas. He just opted to continue his contract, Petrie still can't move him, he doesn't need to wear a jersey when going to games, and still get paid almost 8M. What a guy!

Sorry to hear that the first rounder may not be happening, since I'm not sure whether Greene is what the roster needs or not. But hey, we still unloaded Artest, so I can't complain.

Unless there is another trade coming up where we trade two players for one, which seems very unlikely, then I suppose this is an end to Singletary's career as a King. Unless SAR retires... *knock on wood*

TIS, TIS (This Is Sacramento)...

Seriously, the Denver deal fell apart for whatever reason. LAL deal was or was not a real possibility, etc, etc.

I think the Kings brain trust at all levels were not going to start the new season with Artest on the roster if they could get anything decent. To them this trade is "decent" and to many Kings fans apparently acceptable.

I don't know about that. Every other deal I saw was less of a fit for the rebuild we need to do.
