Barracuda - Heart - Little Queen (1977)

[yt=Heart - Barracuda]oCs-mceaTjU[/yt]

I've always LOVED this song...one of the best guitar riffs in history as far as I'm concerned. I'm posting their "performance" on Solid Gold simply because anything introduced by Marilyn McCoo is, well, SOLID GOLD! Anyway, I just happen to enjoy songs about elongated predatory fish.

I went to a Pearl Jam concert in Vegas a few years ago and the Wilson sisters came on stage and played Barracuda with PJ. How much awesomeness is that? And in Vegas, baby!

We certainly like having you around. I am OK with a swap out. One major concern that I have is that bdouble013 did not even notice this thread until now. For this to work, it requires more frequent visits to the site. Let's see how long it takes bdouble013 to read this and what his/her response is. I would like some assurance that they will be checking in regularly. If we do change, Warhawk can be the official PM person.

It stands as it has been is for now.
Sounds good. Let me know if things are to change. This is fun, but I don't need to be in every draft. Like you said though - participation is key.

I certainly wouldn't object to you being replaced...!
Hey! Thanks for nothin'! :p

No -- I like you in this draft too much as it seems hgihly unlikely you will ever steal a song I;ve even heard, let alone like. :p
You might be surprised at some of my picks - singles and albums are different beasts. I listened to a lot of music on the two-day road trip I just finished. And although my first few picks may not be your cup of tea, I know that some others will be....and may even be on your list. :cool: I am going to try to avoid too much overlap between the drafts and limit it to one song per group for the remainder of this draft if I stay in.

bdouble013 is participating in my video game draft, and hasn't timed out or anything as of yet. So I don't see that being a problem

I can go so many ways with this pick, but I'll follow a pattern set by my last pick.

Stairway to Heaven is one of my dad's favorite songs ever, and his passion for it is no doubt why it has been carved into my brain ever since I could even think. In the same fashion, this next pick is probably my mother's top song and I feel like I can remember knowing it for almost as long. I don't quite enjoy it as much as Stairway, but it is an exceptional song....and best of all its not just a song of love, its a song about singing itself. What could be better than that?

Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison - Blowin' Your Mind

Now for my next pick......

Genius of Love - Tom Tom Club - extended 12" version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JITKxoycdlk

From what I have read, this is the most sampled track in all of hiphop. I love this groove and it is another that I just can not get out of my head. For those that are not in the know, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of the Talking Heads are the founding and main members of this band. This song was played on the Stop Making Sense movie as a filler so David Byrne could have time to put on the infamous oversized suit.

No PM...

[yt=Free as a Bird]O1mCQKuvzCM&feature=related[/yt]

Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd

One of the best rock songs of all time. I prefer this to Stairway, although I'm probably in the minority with that. This is my second song with just a great and widely known solo.

:DToday My Launchcast is good to me:

Yeah, don't get your hopes up, rockers; my list is going to have some rock, but it's still going to be mostly funk and R&B. With my fourth pick, I select:

[yt=I know a man ain't supposed to cry...]hajBdDM2qdg[/yt]

I Heard it Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye - In The Groove - 1968

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Okay, I am going to deviate from my intial draft plan a bit here, and go for a change of pace:

[yt=Bette Davis Eyes -- Kim Carnes]_-RdAzkKlXY[/yt]

Bette Davis Eyes -- Kim Carnes -- Mistaken Identity (1981)

Perhaps my favorite one hit wonder from the 80's, this is just an endlessly entertaining song. But even I did not realize just how BIG of a hit it was until I started researching this pick. Turns out this was the #1 song of 1981, won the grammy for best song and best performance, spent 9 weeks at #1 in the U.S., and topped charts all over the world on the way to becoming the second biggest single of the entire decade. And who am I to argue? While I can not fully explain its appeal, I've been listening to it for 20+ years without it getting old. Will probably be topping my island charts as well.

Golden Brown - The Stranglers

I'm continuing with my iTunes play counts from last 4-5 years in choosing my picks for me at least for few more rounds. Turns out I've been listening to The Stranglers a lot too.

Never heard of them or the song, but unsurprisingly I liked it. Sounds like a twisted carnival song.

Hey now...you're starting to infringe on my territory...

To make your clip work, take the "v=" out of the tag.
