Pho-Sac Trade

Artest for Barbosa plus future 1st. Works on Realgm.

Why for Sac: Barbosa could be a long term solution at the point, and Barbosa- Udrih would def be a potent combo.

Why for Pho: Shaq trade showed that they are desperate to win now even at the cost of the future. Artest could put them over the top, and Kerr could easily pull the trigger if Petrie talks him into it.

I could see him as a Bobby Jackson type off the bench. He is a high energy guy and would fit into an up tempo bench group. But I agree with Gary that he's a combo type. Its not a terrible trade, but its nothing I'm going to do hand stands over.

Barbosa's going to suffer on any team that isn't run-and-gun. He's a real facade, and it seems like as teams have realized what his mojo truly is (running and using his speed), he's becoming ever streakier and streakier. And now he's just an undersized two-guard who just jacks up a lot of shot and does little else; he's got great potential defensively with his long arms but playing the Phoenix brand of D he's just so undisciplined, and I think that's unlikely to change. Phoenix clearly realizes that and that's why they're trying to trade him below his value drops further and he's discovered even more; that's the same case with Chicago's Ben Gordon as well. Barbosa's at his best playing 100 mph, and that isn't going to fly with most teams. Take into account how he's going to be like in our system--maybe another Cuttino Mobley type, just a scorer extraordinaire, and that's it.

But RonRon for a combo-bench guard that is pure offense?? And a Phx first rounder next year will be in the 20's. Don't see this as benefiting Kings.

The Kings won't improve if they continue to trade existing players for less tallented players. Kings fans seem to be fixated on Artest's real or perceived personality issues.

actually no, in an ideal world i think artest would be a great fit for this team if he decides that he wants to stay here and fits into the offensive system, but i was just throwing ideas against the wall. IF artest became a good citizen and stuck around for the next 5 years he could help lead the kings back to relevance in the western conference. that for me is the best case scenario, but i think that really depends on how well this next season goes. i would be pleasantly surprised if this next season was (relatively) drama-free for ron, the team improved, the youngs looked good and ron decided he'd be better off staying somewhere as a centerpiece and part of a growing team than jumping ship hoping to chase a ring. i think for all his issues he is still a good player and a good, if very troubled and misdirected person. nothing bothers me more than arrogant and ignorant posters here and everywhere, including sports writers, calling him crazy or mentally ill without considering the actual implications of what that means- that ron is troubled and needs our sympathy and support, not ******* criticism.

anyway, i think we can all agree that if ron were to be traded, this one is a bad idea. sorry.
