With one back to back set left to play in the pre-summer league Kings are on a mini winning streak and improved to 38-42 winning 7 of the last 10 games. With the win last night Kings have clinched the 13th pick and have a chance to go for #14 by winning out and Blazers losing their games. It has been a stellar season, better than the last one:rolleyes:.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outlook for the immediate future is awesome. If our players book vacation for mid April 2009 - they may save some money. Looks like the Kings have gone back to basic and losing culture and mentality that was so abruptly broken during the Adelman era. And since it lasted for 8 years which is way too long - he was replaced. For the eternal optimists amongst You - I have a simple question - which 3 teams under what circumstances we can skip to get to the 8th spot ? Take all time You need to think about. I am all for revisiting this in a year and comparing notes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
What we are looking for next season is the good old role of spoiler mainly spoiling our own future but getting 10-14th pick yet again and watching Sonics and even Wolves pass us by. Thank God there will always be Clippers and Grizzlies. Good luck finding another Vlade Divac type of the free agent that is insane enough to come here and play for golden pineapple season after season after season. About 5-6 years from now - Kevin will have to do what Richmond did to win a ring - go to the lakers - our new best friends who expressed their gratitude for our professionalism and for us playing hard. Hey at least we are not the Heat who are an embarrassment to the NBA which will be forgotten the moment they get their #1 pick who will with Wade and Marion make the playoffs in the Leastern conference and who won't see lottery again for years or decade to come.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hornets have no one to blame but themselves. They lost to a depleted lottery team tha has better home record than all but 3 team in the Leastern conference but a lottery team nevertheless. Their MVP turned out to be an MP3 and they didn't deserve it. Who cares - not our problem. Main thing for us is that we played possum on the interstate during rush our last weekend against the Lakers and we will do the same on Tuesday. We will beat the Spurs tomorrow night pending on whether certain players feel like dressing up. We basically gave them the #1 in the West. No more rivalry but a new and fresh start in which we are best friends. Good job Queens - finally You deserve the name that was given by - I can't remember anymore.

Yes, I am pissed and these guys deserved better

moving on
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As it has been mentioned million times Ron and John continue to pick and chose games each in their own way but with the same result. One only gives a damn when he starts and the other flips a coin or just feels bored at the moment. Nice to know that we have a group of dedicated and very professional players that the young players can look up to. God forbid - we had a player like Doug Christie or even Bibby and others who had to be tied up to sit out a game. But then again - we were good back then. Just call it coincidence.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We did accomplish several things during the season. We finally realized that KT won't have another triple double. We also realized that Mikki without Jason Kidd is as good as Greg Ostertag singing in his underwear.
[yt=Sample Title]q3AlmPMr96g[/yt]
Additionally, we know that A.J. sucks that QD is not a PG that Brad can't stay healthy over 82 games. Lucky us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings bench outscored the Hornets bench 31-8 and that was pretty much it in a game in which Hornets couldn't handle the pressure and we had nothing to lose but dignity. As I said before that game - we could win it and we did just because we needed to lose it. We can neve get anything right.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - no one
LW-VC - CP3 - just like a night before in LA - he couldn't handle the moment
RA&1 - Mo Pete - sucked
WTF moment - Ron Artest's heroic performance. He was badly hurt and couldn't go against the Blazers the night before but the realized the significance of the moment and duct taped himself and put on the show.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We will beat the Spurs too. Flopibili isn't playing and they have been sucking when that is the case. They just can't score. Most interesting thing will be who suits up for us because the game will be ugly. We still have a slight chance to catch Portland and we will try hard. TDM goes to Vaughn, Finley gets the LW-VC. Kings win.

Where has this board gone to.......Silly me for thinking that great effort shown by our team, including the kids, was a good thing  I understand that we want a better draft pick ,but I love the play by our KINGS as of late. Go KINGS!!!

Well, to answer your question about the board......it hasn't gone anywhere. We are the same bunch of passionate fans that have different ideas as to how to get us where we want to go. At times, different "factions" are more vocal than others.

I am of the "I love to see heart, hustle, and effort faction. I find that extremely exciting to watch and cheer for.

sorry if my first post seemed a little harsh, but whenever i hear someone calling us the Queens I get a little carried away, I can't help myself.:p

Gotta love your depression.. You know there are therapists for that, and amazing breakthroughs in medications!

We are #12, with a chance at #13 if Portland loses final two and we win final two.. And lose a coin flip. First 14 picks go to all non playoff teams so Atlanta if they make the playoffs with a worse record than the Kings they will be picking behind us. #15 (which will go to the Suns).

Not that the order matters much from about #7 - #15 because there is no set order and about 10 decent PF prospects in this draft. So I am not worried.

I agree and i'm done hearing all this about draft picks and the future and what not. The Kings have a chance to finish 40-42 and I'll be damned if you cant think of ten winnable games this season that couldve put them in the playoffs. Reggie has done a tremendous job. If they finished above .500 than he would get my vote for COY. Also, Kings WILL make playoffs next season. So all you negative nannies, stuff it already.

yet not unnecessary. the man has some relevant points. and good lord does peja look young in those pics.

Yea I agree he has relevant points. Did he get everything neat and correct about the draft? No but the overall point is still there. Don't get me wrong I like wins and all but I kinda think people are in denial if they are dismissing him just because he makes his points kinda harshly. Was it harsh to call the Kings the Queens? Sure but it kinda reflects the situation IMO when on other boards I see Lakers fans coming and thanking us for basically handing them the 1 seed and Kobe the MVP(like on a 49ers site I visit for example). Sorry but I never want to hear thanks from a Lakers fan again, I even heard it from my freaking cousin. I mean come on, people need to stop being so sensitive. So what if he called the Kings the QUeens, he has a right to do that. It doesn't pee me off like when a Lakers fan does it, because piksi actually has a point. It would actually be sad if we are in this exact same situation 4-5 years from now.

Bingo.

Piksi's posts are like when your doctor tells you that pizza, beer, cigarettes and a desk job don't add up to a healthy lifestyle. You might not want to hear it, you might get really annoyed after a couple years of hearing it, but it still needs to be said.

Even with only seeing a handful of games this season, I'd still feel pretty damn confident in a shot-in-the-dark guess that you could also find that many games, if not more, that the Kings shouldn't have won but did. This just isn't a playoff quality team.

what is there to be depressed about ?
we have a great coach/actor.. ronny who has become a great leader on the court along with garcia..a young bench (hawes, garcia, salmons, douby, williams,08 draft picks)..rising young star martin..i meen who knows what hes going to do next year he is still far from his prime.
the kings are set.. petrie has not failed with draft picks (douby pending). he will nab another great player this year and we will be rolling into the playoffs 08-09 with young developing players. booya granma

go kings

When I put the thread together I saw things coming but I stayed away to avoid conflicts. I won't comment any personal stuff since some of it was deleted and the rest isn't worthy of responding.

I stand behind things I say.

As I wrote in the initial post - tell me which 3 teams under which circumstances we will skip to get to #8 ?

There is a decent number of us around here who saw all this coming dating back to the Webber trade and You are more than welcome to go back and revisit the threads.

Again - a year from now - we can revisit this point and it gives some of You enough time to come up with another set of excuses just like those from a year ago and from before and so on.

As for the Queens thing - don't You feel like someone just spit in Your face - because that is how I felt when we gave lakers the #1 seed. Assuming that You were Kings fan living on this planet in spring/summer 2002. After the game 7 was over - how was Your health ? Any depression ? Did You eat well, sleep well ? How was the summer ? Still having nightmares ?

If they invite You to their championship parade this summer - are You going to go ? Will You yell MVP next time Kobe shows up @ ARCO ? I mean - I am somewhat confused - they are our best friends now ?

Goodness Piksi, you sure know how to make a girl cry!!!

I had to read it twice. I only got as far as "These guys deserved better" the first time. I had to call it quits after that for a while. Then I went back and read the rest and -darn it!- I agreed with you. While I do love seeing heart and hustle for from he kids, we just are not a good team. If something major does not happen this summer, we are going to be bad for a long time to come. I really do feel sorry for Martin. I feel even worse for us.

Not trying to be negative as opposed to being rational, but if we are to make the playoffs next year, a lot of luck will need to head our way. There are good signs--great kid development towards the end of the season, and this could arguably be Salmons' (at least in the first half of the season) and Cisco's breakout seasons establishing themselves as crucial role players--but this roster the way it is is probably built for mediocrity, and mediocrity just won't cut it in the tough, tough west. There's a reason some members of this board have pegged us in for 2010 and beyond--next year is probably more of the same, and Golden State and Portland ahead of us are only going to get better. Unless we miraculously get the #1 pick, make a stunning trade involving Kenny Thomas, Brad Miller? and perhaps one of our excess swingman (Artest?) for a upper-echelon defensive minded player, I don't see a radical change whatsoever.

I look forward to piksi's writing, period!

And no--none of us are going to their damned parade, none of us will be yelling MVP when Kobe comes to Arco and no--none of us like the Lakers, so get real here.

I must say, to see a KING'S FAN call us Queens makes me sad!!! Annie.

I assume this is the way you'd like readers to respond to your game threads? Do unto others, and all that?
I couldn't care less personally. Its just the attitude around the board has gotten really negative lately, with a few posters acting as though we have a team full of double amputees. Obviously, our hope for the future is not as rich as some other teams, but OMG we beat teh Hornetz and the Lakerz get teh numbr one seed! We ar queens we sux.

I call it a sort of mindless panic that I feel isn't exactly warranted. Like I said, we can finish 40-42, which any other year would have us right on the edge of the playoff race. If we do win 40 games, I will be extremely surprised. This is why I say Kings should make playoffs next year (barring any injuries or stupid trades of people not named Brad Miller or old PF or Ron Artest.) I think had Reggie has Mike, Kevin, and Ron together even for just one month extra, we could've won five to ten more games. Hell, like I said I can think of ten games right now that we could've/should've won and adversely I can think of three games that we surely did not deserve to win.

So this is why I am annoyed by the subjective depression thats been going around. I dont feel its wrong to hope and trust that the Kings organization know what they are doing better than most of the people on this board. I guess i'm saying I expect a better standard from everybody as far as being a fan goes.

While I wont address the first thing you said I do think there is some negativity lately on this forum. Why? I think some people wanted to purposely lose in order to get a higher pick. Or at least start the youngsters and give them playing time (more than the 20-30 mins they have been getting). I really don't mind the winning because I stand behind what I said earlier about this being a PF draft (which looks to be the direction the Kings might go in come draft time). Personally I think we have been playing the players that matter most to our future.

So do I. There has been no general call for tanking for the draft this year, despite its recent popularity as a straw man. 81 games out of 82, many of us have cheered for wins, and the remainder have at least refrained from complaining about them. That's 98.8% unanimity. All of the current brouhaha is a disagreement about less than 1.2% of the season, which was about playoff seeding, and not the draft.

And, you know, I'd feel like one heck of a lucky person if I got my way 98.8% of the time. I think that for anyone to hold out for 100% is unrealistic, to put it charitably.

Grant just said Ron Artest told him he is not playing tonight. I think he said Ron won't play tomorrow, either....

As I wrote in the initial post - tell me which 3 teams under which circumstances we will skip to get to #8 ?
#1 Phoenix - after the Steriod/Suns Medical Staff Scandal of 08/09. Where Nash, Shaq and Grant Hill all mysteriously are able to play 82 games a year again.

#2 Denver - Close to 30 Million invested in a very brittle front line, star just got a DUI and Iverson is not getting any younger.

#3 Dallas - With the Jason Kidd trade, all of a sudden a very old team. Dirk - 30, Dampier -33, Terry - 33, Kidd - 35. No Picks, No Cap space, no tradeable assets unless they trade Kidds Expiring contract.

We also have to hope Portland does not put it together next year and make the playoffs. I almost expect the Spurs to tank next season as well because I don't see how they can put together another run with Duncan/Parker/Manu and the homeless vet squad.
