You need to take that up with the person who was saying you should. All I said was that thinking that the team is going to lose =/= wanting the team to lose. I haven't gone into a single game actually thinking that the Kings were going to win since February 23, 2005, but I don't actually root for the Kings to lose.
I don't think I said you were rooting for anyone to lose. I was talking to the person concerned about my expectations. :)

I replied because it is a common and, quite frankly, offensive misconception by many people whom believe that if you don't think that the Kings are any good, and should not be trying to pursue the pipe dream of trying to get into the playoffs, then you're rooting for the team to lose.

When did I say the Kings are any good? We stink.

All I did was address someone trying to tell me how to feel. Or that I need to "get used to it".

I won't. I'll continue to be optimistic and hope we win.

Get used to it? Are you another person concerned about my expectations?

:D

Don't worry about me. I don't live near any bridges or anything.

OMG! I do. Should I be worried?

I understand what Mr. Slim is saying. While I will cheer my team, no matter what, just because that is who I am, and how I love sports, that does not mean I expect them to win. On the contrary, I expect them to lose a lot of games. The Kings are just not that good this year. Will I keep on cheering like crazy? You bet!!

Conversely, just because someone thinks we'll lose a lot of games, and has low expectations for this teams, does not mean they are cheering for them to lose.

Whatever. I just don't like being told how I should feel as if how I feel has anything to do with anything at all. Other than how I feel.

No, what you said was:

Whatever. I can't root for my team to lose. It's just not in me.
... in direct response to:

The bucks are a lousy, slow, half court team, and the Kings have their hands full at this point. I know they are playing without Bibby and Martin, but I believe this is more representative of the rest of the season than the win over the Spurs.
... Which is what elicited my reaction. Your response to the assessment that the Kings aren't any good was "Whatever. I can't root for my team to lose," which suggests that you think that what ZZE916 said equates to rooting for the team to lose, and it doesn't. The belief that saying that the Kings aren't good is akin to wanting the team to lose is a common misconception that I find offensive, which is what led me to post what I did.

No, my response was not to someone saying the Kings aren't any good. Read it again. My response was to being told how to feel.

I find it offensive to be told how I should feel.

You have certainly made that point. I think most people feel the same way.
