Portland is going to be really good. Everybody knows this. But it will take a few years.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs on on the second night of a back to back, and the Kings will be fresh. The Spurs are also in cruise control until playoffs, but they are good enough to do that. They did give up 64 points to the Sonics of all teams in the first half yesterday. So who knows, they are solid, but not invincible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Kings fell apart in the final minute the other day, and really lost because of themselves, no matter what you want to say about a non-call, or a bad toss. LaMarcus Aldridge, Greg Oden, and whatever small forward they get in the draft this year is going to be a brutal frontcourt. You could even put the sharpshooter Webster in there, but his defense is horrid. And also, the sequence where the Blazers blocked all those shots was spectacular.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Greg Oden looks like Lebron James's dad. Jarret Jack looks like Ne-Yo and Xhibit. Steve Blake looks like Ryan Gosling and Troy Murphy could be his brother. Brandon Roy looks like a cross between Donald Faison and Craig Kirkwood. And Darius Miles, who apparently is still on the Blazers, plays in two sports. Thats right, he is none other than Plaxico Burress of the NY Giants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully Beno has a grudge against his former team, and drops 50. That said, hoprfully Tony Parker doesn't drop 50, but what a great tool to have if our team wants to know what the Spurs are running. Kinda like how the Sonics played so well yesterday. It was because of PJ.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The discrepancy between the quality of play at home vs. the road sticks out this season, and hopefully it evens itself out, but in the best possible way.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM goes to Pryzbilla, just because his eyes open even wider when he plays the Kings. Its like his holiday every year.

LW-VC award went to Mikki because he managed to grab a grand total of 0 rebounds in 22 minutes

Spencer gets the Methusalah award because he made a cameo.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs are next, and in recent years have had trouble with the Kings at Arco. Bonner or Elson will win the TDM, Tony Parker will go olympic, and Horry will get booed. Spurs will probably win, but you never can say.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - Stay away from Bowen
Ron - Stay close to Bowen
Brad - take a deep breath
Beno - pull a Tony Delk!
Mikki - he can't do it against this team

Salmons - meh
Cisco - like a hamster. good thing he is playing basketball. Imagine if he was a surgeon.
Hawes - Well, now that you've seen the Rose Garden, I think we can take you out now.
Justin - I guess this team doesn't need any rejection right now
QD - be aware

rest - garbage

Coach T - well you saved your time outs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs think the regular season is like the appetizer before the meal. Unfortunately, I think there is no way they will repeat this year, and they one last year on a cheap shot from Rob (and some questionably strange officiating from mr. Donaghy.) I think the league has caught up with them, in terms of talent throughout. It sucks to be on the bottom.

The Spurs will be in the 2nd night of back to back game and the players age average is quite old, the Kings should take advantage of that by pushing the tempo faster. Will Beno play in this game ?

Beno played in the last game, I don't know of any reason why he wouldn't play tonight.

As far as moving the tempo faster goes, I agree that it's worth a try, but I can't really see Reggie doing that. Our fastest PF/C, for example, is probably Williams, who got all of zero minutes in the last game, just as he has in 2/4 of the games since he's been back. In another of those games, he got 1 minute of PT. So I'm guessing that Reggie will play an 8 man rotation based on vets. And I'm guessing that the result will be the same as usual. It will come down to their old, great players versus our old, mediocre players.

lol and then Justin will play a lot in the 2nd half cuz we'll already be down by 30. Look at it that way;)

you cant expect justin to suddenly receive respectable minutes

he missed the beginning of the season and its not like we have incredible chemistry or anything, but justin always looks lost on offense, so a layoff would hurt even more.

Justin will eventually work his way back into the rotation, but dont expect it to come around that quick.

His offense looked better the few times i've seen him play. he had a nice couple of baby hooks against pheonix and a good looking post move.

The Spurs look solid tonite @Seattle, the Kings better prepare well, so we can have a good competitive game tomorrow. The defense is not exactly up to par though, so as long the Kings can push the tempo & share the ball offensively, the Spurs could be in a long night defensively.

Yeah, they've been pretty good lately dealing with back to back game, though i must say they haven't met any powerhouse in those games either. Coach Pop has been managing playing time quite well, TD & Manu are very well rested, and Tony seems keeping his game level high ever since his coming out party -and marriage party, LOL- last summer in the final.

As I recall wasn't that a notorious achilles heel for them in years past?
When Duncan had plantar facititis, they really struggled on back to backs in the 2005-2006 season.

You answered a big reason why Sonics held it tight in the 1st half. PJ is a very good coach, and has learned a lot from Pop along with knowing their system pretty damn well. Beno's biggest weakness is when the defense puts pressure on him, especially with traps. Spurs even with that game, didn't log big time minutes. 35:59 going to Parker. I do expect Martin to score about 25-27 in that game though.

I expect Martin to score 25-27 every game but is he doing that? no....

Er...he's averaging 25.2. That ain't bad.

As far as 25-27 on the Spurs...lesser defenders than Bruce Bowen have slowed him of late. Unless they put Bruce back on Ron, which is kind of a waste of what Bowen does best. Questions will be can Kevin sustain energy and aggressiveness, and how much the Spurs are focused on holding him down. Questions are also kind of irrelevant I might add unless it leads to a victory.

If this game was played during recess at any elementary school in the country nobody could blame any member of the Kings for running over to the "noon goon" and screaming that the teams weren't fair.

Time to pick teams over with new captains.

When round do you suppose Miller, Rahim, Thomas and Miki Moore and Steve Hawes (what's his first name again?) would get selected. That's right, just after the kid with barbed wire head gear and the pasty six foot 12 year-old wearing his pants just inches below his neck.

Who made these teams? Not fair!

To what extent do people tailgate at Arco? Do they frown upon it?
I've seen it, so it's not frowned upon. I just don't see it very often. Of course, so many of the games are on weeknights and some folks barely have time to get there for the game. Still, I don't think it is a big pastime at Arco. Maybe others who attend more games than I have seen more of this.

Oh, and welcome to the board. :) (Even if you are a Spurs fan. ;))

Since we do have Spurs fans visiting because of the game, I'm just going to offer a few tips:

1. We know our team sucks, so if you're just here to rub salt in the wounds, don't bother.

2. We know your team is pretty good, so if you're just here to rub salt in that wound, don't bother.

3. We don't deal with smack around here. Keep it as friendly as the Spurs fans have done thus far and you'll do fine.

4. You're guests in our house. We're more than willing to be hospitable but we don't want you kicking our dog or drinking our last beer. Be a considerate guest and we'll return the favor.

Thanks!

:D

I wonder if the Kings employ super small ball line up, will coach Pop match that up ? I love how Barry & Finley played as 'center' most of the nite in the game against Orlando -because Tim is a PF. :D
