Season has officially started for most of the teams, some of them start on Friday and Kings season won't start till next Tuesday when we have the home opener against the Sonics. Unfortunately, we will start it with the 0-3 handicap courtesy of the NBA scheduling gods who just can't leave us alone. In case that You still don't know - our NBDL team strengthened with Kevin Martin and John Salmons easily lost in the Big Easy against the solid Hornets squad. It was the cat and mouse game between their starters and whomever we put on the floor. So Kings are 0-1 with 81 long games left to go as bad as the Lakers, going on 0-3 because we will play a back to back in Texas which doesn't include the Rockets. Thanks a lot NBA.

He knew – and this was the surprising part – that had Hornets general manager Jeff Bower not declined a trade with the Kings over the summer, Jackson might have been the kind of veteran presence Sacramento needed.
The trade, Jackson said, would have sent forward Kenny Thomas to New Orleans and Jackson and guard Rasual Butler to the Kings. As it was, it went nowhere. Some months later, the same could be said for the Kings.
Damn ! That was my first thought after reading this quote from today's Bee article. But then again - I thought about it some more and then I realize how desperate this attempt was. At least we tried but GP has already fooled too many too often so it is very hard to sell things these days. I have no clue why Hornets would need Thomas but that wouldn't really bother me at all. About a year ago in one of my threads I suggested a trade involving Kenny Thomas and a 6 pack of beer and bag of chips. Some journalist attempted to portrait it as panic exaggeration of the spoiled fans. Well, all I can say now is - good luck getting a bag of chips for him, pal !

I didn't want to look back this season but I will make sort of an exception (because I can;) ) On the opening night I saw a part of the Lakers loss (it is so much fun) and Rick was on the bench again. His team defended well for a coach who doesn't preach defense:rolleyes:. Rockets are lucky to have him but they aren't the Kings of old and hopefully they will understand it. Princton offense is difficult and requires players with high BB IQ. Most teams are lucky if they have one player with the high BB IQ. Kings were unique because we had 2. Yao is good and he will get better but in some segments of the game he will never be Chris or Vlade. Rockets might struggle ab bit in the beginning but they will eventually get it and they will be there at the end because Rick Adelman will make it happen
Last night it was great to see Bobby and Pedja. I can't help it but I like to see those guys do well most of the nights. Bobby didn't play too well but Pedja was very decent as the game progressed but mainly it is nice to see him somewhat healthy. He can still shoot which Kings apparently didn't know. Pedja is a player made by Sacramento Kings just as Kevin Martin is now. Hopefully, more will come just as good or better.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are trying to work market hard these days because we need help everywhere. Beno Udrich is one name that has been mentioned and I wouldn't mind but only as a transition to something better. He is a Spurs product which means he has at some point heard of defending and he has also been yelled at before. It is a start. And we don't have a PG right now so if someone can bring in some order - it would be nice.
Also, I am disappointed that Kobe deal didn't go trough the other night. Maybe it will soon. My agenda is obviously getting Ron Artest out of the Kings uniform and whatever it takes - I am fine with it. How bad can a deal be really ? Look at our front line ! We have already been robbed blind. If there is anyone that is retarded enough to take Artest off our hands - we shouldn't think twice because there won't be a second chance here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I looked on the national TV schedule and if You disregard the NBATV we have only one appearance only because they have to show Lebron so many times and we happen to be involved. Knowing our luck - Bill Walton will be part of that in some way just to ruin it. We used to be on 20-25 times per season. For some reason they showed the preseason game against Lakers which I caught in a hotel room flipping trough the channels wondering what is going on. Apparently, BSPN run out of stupid poker reruns and decided to actually show some real sports. My point here is (other than the BSPN sucks) is that we will be allowed to suck privately which is all we can ask for.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We should start a petition for retiring the position of power forward when the Kings are concerned. We don't have any. What we are doing right now is recycling our and someone else's garbage on that position. This must be some sort of weird fetish collecting all useless PF wannabes on one team. Last night they combined for nothing in way too many minutes (I have the stats but they are too damn depressing). Maybe we could help them providing some literature.

either one will do and if that fails we can make Muss give them a power point presentation on how to get paid not to work. I don't really care - I just don't want to watch them anymore.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, the last night's game wasn't what we hoped for because only time that we were competitive was when our best 5 played their 2nd 5 which just isn't enough. We got outplayed and outrebounded. We couldn't stop penetration or close down the shooters. All that talk about defense in the preseason did nothing. Only positive think is that Cisco played a good game.

AWARD TIME

first award ceremony of the season

TDM award goes to Mo Peterson but it wasn't really strong outing
LW-VC award went to Bobby who had a bad night or maybe he just felt sorry.
JHA award went to SAR who was almost the worst player on the floor
RAand1 award went to Kenny "the garbage" Thomas who played 15 minutes too many.

if this goes on - I will need to come up with a different degree of awards because too many players suck too much at the same time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Green - not ready for NBA but it is not his fault that he has to start. Good luck with Tony Parker
Kevin - just stay away from Bowen because if ...
Salmons - keep it up
KT - good help us
Brad - not healthy but at least - trying

Cisco - we have seen this before. Now it is up to him to do it again.
Douby - we need more here
Dawkins - so so
Rest - garbage

RT - very hard for him to work with what he has. At least he didn't irritate me jumping around the baseline attempting to playe defense like You know who. I do expect more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Champs are next and it is a good thing. It is the easiest game we can have because we have absolutely nothing to lose except the game which we will. It would have been a great experience for Hawes but he is hurt. We don't really have too many young kids that we are developing which is too bad. Spurs are Spurs. Their front line will abuse ours badly. We won't stop Parker od Flopibili. If we play hard we can keep it close but that is about it.
TDM award will go to Darius Washington because no one has ever heard of him - making him a perfect candidate. Barry will torch us too. All other awards are reserved for our players. First losing streak of the season - here we come.

Im back after my super-stubborn sabbatical.

And this being my first post on the Kings this season I just have to voice my absolute depression about this team.

If you look at any other team in the league, they have something going for them. They may be young and full of exciting potential (Bobcats, Sonics, Blazers). They may be ready for a break out season (New Orleans) . Or they may just already be flat out good already (Spurs, Dallas, Etc.)

Then there's us. We have no upside out of K-Mart. We have no exciting up and comers with superstar potential. We have the geriatric front-line that can no longer compete with AAAA division high school basketball teams. We're not young. We're not getting any better for the future. It's all just depressing.

Anywho...The Spurs...I can see no fun in this, and seeing we had troubles scoring against the Hornets, I'll say we score 84 in a 25 point blowout.

TDM will split between Oberto and Bonner. It won't be fun watching Oberto of all people dismantling K9, SAR and Mikki...Bonner will kill us in garbage time with a barrage of threes.

JHA will go to the three headed BEAST of the aforementioned K9, SAR and Mikki. The three will combine for about half of what Duncan does to us in the two and a half quarters he plays. Combined: 8pts, 6rbs, 2asts, 5TO.

Not looking forward to this one.

Speaking of SAR, K9 and Moore, I have a feeling we'll be seeing their names alot in the JHA awards...We should think of a killer nickname that lumps em all in one easy motion. 9SAR-Mikki? MoorSAR9?

Hi sorry new guy here. Care to explain the awards? Like whats TDM and stuff :) thanks
TDM = Tony Delk Memorial...In memory of when Tony Delk erupted for 50 against us as a member of the Suns...This award goes to a non-key player or scrub who has a big game against us.

JHA = Jason Hart Award...This award goes to the King who best channels the spirt of Jason Hart and is completly ineffective and/or terrible.

As for the other two, Im not as sure...

LW-VC is in honor of Luke Walton who get schooled by Kenny Thomas in helping us come back...I think it is in essence the opposite of the TDM.

And I have no clue what the RAand1 is.

Always fun to predict though!

the kings will get beat thoroughly! it will be in the same fashion as game 1 of the 2006 playoffs. piksi, as always a great job with the thread. i agree with the comment about collecting other teams' garbage. the power forward position in the NBA should be recalled for sacramentos sake. every team should only allow 4 players to be on the court at one time. since piksi was so annoyed at our stats ill run them by. lol.

our power forwards combined for
65 minutes
15 rebounds. dwight howard averages 15 rebounds in 30 minutes
3 assists
0 blocks
7 points

these numbers are beyond pathetic. these numbers belong in a dark abyss with the devils advocate

it could have been worse

just to put things into perspective, you can at least watch some kings games. no matter how hard i try, where i am no way i will ever watch a kings game. i am willing to pay but no way.... so, just be happy and find something to cheer about: a youngstar who develops better than expected, a veteran that contributes more than his share, a coach that promises good things to come, a loss of single digits against the spurs, a show of guts and resilience, i dont know, you name it.

i became a kings fan when petrie drafted hedo and never turned my back ever since. i was in turkey. then and i could get up at 5 in the morning and watch my kings. i still cheer for hedo, webber, adelman and even peja but my heart is a King.. and i moved to italy and then here to israel and i am hungry for a live kings game.

by the way, thanks to bricklayer and piksi for easing my pain. i don't know how they do it. bravissimi. i enjoy every word of it.:)

Thank you, bubulina. I'm reminded how lucky I feel to have a hometown pro team and live so close to Arco. Yes, even when they are bad, I'd rather have my team, than not. There's just a player or two I'd rather not have. ;)
