I totally missed this...but I must say I'm a bit more optimistic now that I see that the private funding end of things picking up steam in the whole plan, thats the only way anything will ever work. I think this is definetely good news for a change...

(CBS13) SACRAMENTO CBS13 News has learned of new details of a new plan to build an arena for the Sacramento Kings.
A high ranking NBA official tells CBS13 that the NBA wants to accelerate its pursuit of a new arena in Sacramento. They want something ready to sign in just 6 months.
The Maloof brothers and NBA commissioner David Stern are working on a new arena plan they hope will be in place by the start of next season. CBS13 has learned that NBA negotiators set that timeline themselves.
The new financing negotiations include partners that were not involved in the publicly funded Railyard Arena proposal that failed in the November elections.
Sacramento Supervisor Roger Dickenson says that at this point the new plan would likely fall heavily on private investors.
“I don’t think anyone right now is contemplating any direct public funding being part of the equation,” he says.
In addition the new timeline, CBS13 has learned that the Maloof brothers have hosted several dinner parties for Sacramento community and business leaders where they’ve announced they’re expecting a draft of the plan by Davis Stern by the end of this month.
Sandy Smoley was a guest at one of those dinners.
“Joe Maloof and Gavin Maloof have looked me in the eye too many times and have said ‘we are staying in Sacramento’. At each of these dinners they stood up in front of the public and said ‘we are staying in Sacramento’. I have to believe them,” says Smoley.
