And 3 blocks!!!

Justin almost makes me not feel bad that we're losing our lotto positioning and we probably wont get one of the better bigs this draft.

I dont think he's the one depriving us...Thats on the managment/coach/owners who decided outta the playoffs and 8th pick at best is better then outta the playoffs and 4th or 5th pick.

No problem!

Here's to Justin hopefully getting 25+ minutes for the remainder of the season, a new contract in the offseason, and 25+ minutes per game in the 07-08 campaign!!!

Ok, who was praising this guy last year around draft time? Whow as that guy that said we needed to get a 2nd round pick out of fear of losing this guy? When he went undrafted who said this guy is the real deal and wanted him to come to summer camp? Who was the guy that said last year that KMart will have a breakout year? :) OK that KMart quote was off topic, but the other three I hit the nail on the head if the persons name was GARY! :D:D:eek:

Be careful there. You could easily dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back like that...

;)

BACK to Justin, okay?

His interview with Grant and Jerry after the game was great. The kid is working hard, and very appreciative of the support he's getting from "some of the coaches" (meaning Jason Hamm, who works out with the guys really hard) and willing to do whatever he can to improve himself in the off-season.

I like his heart, his hustle and his attitude.

Nice job, Justin!!!

Yah, I know VF :D Just playing around. Totally hope we keep this guy around though. He seems to bring that energy we lack, and the other guys feed off it as we saw in the last 4 games..

Just a quick stat check over the last 4 when Justin has got minutes... Pretty impressive imo..

24.8 minutes per game
10.5 points per game
8.5 rebounds per game
1.75 blocks per game

Do those type of stats remind you of anyone? Williams is our new Scot Pollard!

Thats better then Pollard!!

Anyways....Tomorrow should be interesting against the Spurs. Will Justin have to try to guard Duncan? Hows he gonna do rebound wise against Timmy.

And most importantly...How many times is he gonna stuff Parker?

Yep, I love having the guy on the team. He may have a ways to go still, but he fills our biggest gaps, and considering that he's really only played 3 NBA games so far, is doing amazingly well. And I'm sure he'll have that first 20/10 some time soon.

He was pretty close tonight....16/11 isnt too shabby...Especially with 3 blocks and a steal thrown in the mix :)

Edit: Ditto BawLa! I've been sayin Justin could put up numbers like this since he outplayed our frontcourt vets in his first preseason game!

Whats interesting is that in the one game I watched with Williams getting a lot of time (I think it was his 13 rebound game) he seemed less lost out there then his early season garbage time stints.

Could be he's gettin comfortable playin in the big leagues....Which I dont need to point out is a good thing.

Ssshh!

Keep it on the DL vfettke!

If Petrie gets wind of it he's gonna give Justin's roster spot to the next 6'7' hasbeen scrub that the Knicks waive!

We can tell Petrie that Justin is a shooter!

Well, not exactly in the usual sense, but he has by far the best FG% on the team: he's at 58.9% as of tonight, which, if one looks at everybody in the NBA who has attempted at least 50 shots this year, puts him in 9th place. And since he's been in over 20 minutes a game, he's been shooting 68%.

(He also just bumped Yao Ming out of the #31 slot for most blocks per 48 minutes, and of guys who have over 12 blocks this year, he is in 22nd place (per 48), but we'll keep that part quiet since shotblocking is overrated.)

Brad gets a triple double? Justin gets a double double plus 3 blocks? Does this mean we actually have a legitimate front court now? Oh yeah, it was the Grizzlies. Can't get my hopes up too much. But hopefully something clicked out there because Brad's going to be around for awhile, and Justin could be too if we wanted him.

You know, I was one of those people who watched the whole second round of the draft knowing we didn't have a pick, just hoping not to hear Justin Williams' name called. I've had a good feeling about this kid since I first started reading about the names in last years draft. And when it wasn't called and soon afterward he was already signed to the Kings summer league team I thought this was too good to be true. He sounded like exactly the player we needed and for once my idle speculation was actually being reflected by Kings management. When he was cut for Mo Taylor I was enormously disappointed. Taylor gave us nothing we needed and he's a declining veteran with no upside to speak of (and apparently a drug problem on the side, but that came out later). And now that Justin Williams is FINALLY on the team and contributing and having some success, it's not an "i told you so" kind of moment because I never actually had anything to do with Justin Williams or his work ethic or his relative success (or lack of success) in the NBA. This is all about Justin himself showing he's had what it takes all along, and that's a nice happy sidestory in a season that's had far too few of them. I hope he sticks around and continues to succeed because it always feels good to cheer for players you believe in. (even when they maybe cost you a spot or two in the lottery :) )

Oh yeah I am loving his game. SAR and KT could have gotten easy buckets like that this year only they instictively bounce the ball once off a rebound then look to see if anyone is coming then throw up a weak layup instead of a dunk. Williams catches jumps and dunks in 1 motion. Its great to see what good hands down low looks like again. We havn't seen a big man catch passes like that since Webber left. I know he isn't Webb but, did anybody else notice his ability to catch the akward passes.

Now we must re-sign him could cost us a bit more now than it would have say 3 weeks ago.

Yes, but it might actually happen now.

If it wasnt for these games I could honestly see Petrie letting him walk.
Geoff Petrie is the one who originally signed him and then cut him so he could spend time in the NBDL. Geoff Petrie is the one who then re-signed him to the Kings. I wish people would remember things like that.

If Petrie hadn't thought Williams was worth pursuing again, he wouldn't have brought him back.

I have to point this out. Notice how Brad Miller is a lot more effective in the game playing besides a defensive big? I mean it was the grizzlies, but even so. I am very very happy to see Justin do this and once he adds some bulk he can really become a legit player. I really wouldn't mind us starting him for the remainder of the games and see how he does against Tim and the trigger-happy warriors. I think he had some nerves his first few games, but he is beginning to settle and look real, real solid. Already he has put up some better games that Cedric Simmons and Hilton Armstrong, some guys people were talking about last year who haven't done anything for the hornets.Brad is more effective when he plays beside a defensive guy on a faster team.
