Good for Denver
Iverson definitely makes them a lot better offensively in having another legit, quality option. And increases their level of attention and probably even more fun to watch.
I think AI/'Melo are mostly going to be fine as far as playing together. They can share the court because of their offensive skillsets, and with what has been said by both recently. As one should differ to some degree, and both give up some shots for the other. And of course both want to win.
The Nuggs still lack versatility in ways to score, outside of slashing/iso, and fast-breaking. JR Smith being their best 3PT shooter, but is more of a streaky shooter. While everyone else is non-existent or doesn't command any significant respect. Inside, they don't have anyone aside from Nene, which is who they've been counting on to be an option in there. But, thing is with him, he's still recovering from time out and his injury. I think he can eventually be at least some kind of a presence down low though.
Still are little to nothing on defense, and not any form of a defensive-minded team.
Overall, I don't think Iverson makes the Nuggs contenders. At the most, AI increases Denver's chances to get into R2. Though won't be surprised if they still get knocked out in R1. Considering the other bunch of teams in the west. My prediction of the Jazz winning the division as long as they stay healthy (which so far they have) still stands despite the AI trade.
So with the Jazz as the likely 4th seed in relation to the playoffs, with the Nuggs as a 5th seed - versus the Jazz? I'd take Utah in that.
If Nuggs get 6th seed and have to face one of Spurs/Mavs/Suns...Phoenix, kinda tough to say, and too early right now because of Denver's situation. That'd be one hell of a series, though. But versus Spurs/Mavs, I think Nuggs go out in R1 again.
All that said, be interesting to see how AI fits in though, for sure..

I really like the deal for Philly, short-term and long-term. Joe Smith is a solid big, adds depth, and at the same time an expirng contract. Two R1 picks in a deep draft to get 3 picks in R1, and then a good, stable starting point guard in Andre Miller.
Regardless of the level of how legit reports on tv/radio/internet were, Denver was the front-runner for the last week or so.
Not that surprised at this deal, just didn't think AI would be dealt till a bit later.
