Its a bruise dude calm down. I have over 30 contusions on my body at any time. He probably took a knee to the thight or something along that line. It will be stiff for 2 or 3 days.

ummmmm, a knee to the thigh hampered Martin for weeks. (Was that last year?) I remember being amazed that a "bruise" could impair him for so long.

Deep thigh bruises are pretty debilitating, and I would imagine that this contusion with Salmons would have to be reasonably significant in order for it to even be mentioned. On the other hand you couldn't possibly play through an NBA season without recieving multiple contusions over the course of the season so hopefully this is just an owie.

As an aside, might be an opportunity for Cisco, who can bring many of the same things Salmons does, just sans brain unfortunately. Not necessarily much falloff though if he can stay in control.

Sans brain....But he can block shots from time to time.

I hope he can cut back on wild shots, bad fouls, and dumb turnovers...I think Cisco can actually become a better option off the bench then Salmons if he ever gets under control.

Correct me if I'm wrong for thinking this... But why is the guy we signed for 25 million dollars getting injured not bad news? Or someone who is simply replaceable?

One good thing is hopefully now guys like Ronnie and Cisco can get a groove going and it will make our bench stronger.
I'm thinking it will be damn good for Cisco...he needs to get some PT so he can get back to playing like he was before he got hurt last year. Our bench will be flippin' tough if he gets going like THAT again.

I've always said that when one person goes out it allows the opportunity for someone else to step up. Fortunately, this doesn't have the sound or feel of a serious injury.

If you are going to have a game where multiple folks are out injured (even if it's just for one game like John's might be) - I think this is the game to do that. In that sense, the timing is not all that bad.

If he misses time, I think this team is going to miss Salmons more than people think. He's quickly become a glue guy who does all the little things around the edges. He's not flashy with his scoring, but he always seems to be on the floor when the Kings are making a run.

Agreed. We need his assists and rebounds. Not to mention the stats don't quite show that he can get some hustle blocks and steals as well. But it is time for Garcia to get some extended playing time and hopefully he will knock down his shots. Between Garcia and Salmons we should have all the offense/defense from the 2/3 positions that we need.

Wow, I thought about Kevin 1st too! Yeah it did bother him for awhile last season.

A hip contusion really slowed Ron down last year as well, thanks Ostertag!

Bibby probably has tons of contusions and plays through pain. He and my man Brett Favre are Iron Men! :D

He's a better shooter, more athletic, longer/taller

That darn twisted ankle last season really stunted his growth and confidence and too think it came on a dead play with him trying to dislodge a stuck ball and trip over Brad's big feet! In Homer voice, DOP! :p

I'm coming to the same conclusion. I'm a bit disappointed that he isn't quiker and more athletic, bigger sort of like Bonzi...but the guy is a great defender and gets the job done while not being flashy. He is also versatile and really fills the role of a great utility guy off the bench that plays positions 1-3.

Cisco can do the same thing and I feel as much more upside, he just needs to calm down and be smarter about things. He definately has the potential, is younger and is making peanuts compared to John who is really getting paid too much, but you do pay for versatility, I think it's a big much still, but I do like what I see in John. He does stuff very calm and has great confidence, if Cisco could get just a little bit of this confidence/coolness under pressure, he'd be amazing. He was playing great up until the injury last season and has been a shell of himself since.

Ostertag must hate us. He stole our money than injured our best player the year after. What's next he convinces the Maloofs to hire him as GM over Petrie and does his best Zeke impression?

This seems to be a revolving pattern, important player gets injured, new guy steps in and becomes really good... sans kevin for bonzi, now ronnie for bibby and maybe now cisco for salmons?

maybe my logic is flawed.
