I don't think Martin averaging 2 more pts than last year is unreasonable at all. I'm hoping for him to average 5 more points than last year and have a breakout season.

^i'm not setting my sights too high for next season, but i'm also not hoping that they blow chunks just to prove a point.

ETA: oops, i misread your comment as "You'll see..." never mind.

Whoa go easy with all the reasons as to why mine are too low. You have everyone convinced. We'll see when the season starts.
He did it consistently last year when he started, played alot in the playoffs, grew as a player, he's going to be more mature this year physically and mentally, looked alot quicker and confident in SL, he will get more minutes then last year to produce, he's going to have alot of open threes and cuts with Ron and Shareef posting up causing double teams, is that enough positives to weigh down your negatives?

First of all, I'm not trying to be negative :) . Yes but he has to do it 82 times this year (assuming he doesn't get injured). How many more minutes exactly will he get than last year (when he was starting, since that's all that matters to you ;) )? He'll have the same amount of 3's as he did last year with Ron and SAR in the 2nd half of the season. You could also make an argument that teams will be more aware of hm this season therefore guarding him better. SAR played alot in the PO's and it was his first season there, I don't see you saying that he will improve by about 6 points. Adding muscle doesn't always help (See Mike Bibby :p ). He may perform better as he is.
I'm just trying to say, let him develop slowly, this was his breakout year, how often do you see a young player still learning improve by 6+ points two years in a row (sp?)? I hope I'm wrong, he's my favourite player on the Kings, that's why I don't want to put too much pressure on him. I'm happy with the way he's developing and his work rate.

;)

While he may be put on a pedastal by some, the young man seems to have his head on pretty straight. He's working hard, and I think he's determined to be the best he can be. And that impresses me.

Has anyone been giving Brad and Reef higher rebounds this coming season? With Bonzi gone I think both of them should see better numbers in that department.

Don't think SAR will, not because I don't think he can, but because of Kenny being here. He'll get 5-high 6 RPG. If SAR got 35 MPG or more, I think he'd get high 7-low 8 RPG. Which isn't quality for a PF, but it's not bad.

I haven't given it a go yet.

---Starters---

Bibby --- 17ppg, 3.5rpg, 7apg
Martin --- 16ppg, 5rpg, 2.5apg
Artest --- 20ppg, 6rpg, 3.5apg
Thomas --- 7ppg, 10rpg, 2apg
Miller --- 12ppg, 7rpg, 3.5apg

---Other Notables/predictions---

Salmons --- 7/3/2
SAR --- 15/4/2 + sixth man consideration
Woods --- 2/3/1bpg
Garcia --- 5/3/3

The way I see it, we should have K9 starting for more than a few reasons.

*He is a ROLE-PLAYER...We need them...If we throw out that starting 5 with SAR you have 5 scorers who outside of Martin are not good rebounders...K9 doesnt want the touches the SAR wants, and he main purpose will be mop-up points, and spoting up for the occasional jumper (which he DID hit at a 50% clip last year).

*He plays better as a starter...If he plays better providing something we need, I don't see why he shouldn't start.

*SAR will see the ball more as the number one option off the bench...Shareef is here for offense...And I think his offense will be maximized being the leader of the second unit.
