Where'd Amick say this and where else would Bonzi sign? The only place I could really think of is Charlotte. I don't really think he knows what he's talking about right now because he said Darius could be coming back but then again Ric Bucher said Bonzi's coming back and he's not right too often so who knows.

The first part may be right. The second part though -- pretty sure Darius can't be traded now for months since he just signed with the Wiz as a FA. Sure Amick has pretty good sources, but I'm surprised he wasn't abreasyt of the Darius signing. Nor, if my understanding of things is correct, could we afford to sign Darius if we signed and traded Bonzi since we would already be taking matching contracts back in return. Unless of course Geoff would be willing to take a luxury tax hit to get Darius but not Bonzi, which would just be grotesque.
Well this certainly wasn't unexpected from my part. This has been a dodgy exercise right from the start. The fact that its taken this long tells us the 2 parties are not even in the same book let alone on the same page.
Hopefully, we can address some of our needs through a sign and trade but if history is anything to go by, then we will be drawing the rough end of the pineapple in this scenario.
Not to mention the fact that just about all good FAs are signed sealed and delivered elsewhere.

If Bonzi wanted $11 million/year for 5 years the Maloofs are being smart, not cheap.
If it is a S&T (probable), they are probably going to go over the cap, as the offer for Bonzi would have put us near that (IIRC) and he didn't take it (apparently), so we are probably bringing back additional salary as well.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens and look at it critically when it's made known....

there was just an uneasy feeling in my stomach as this thing kept dragging on. come on bonzi, i thought you wanted to stay! i hope we get to plug one of our holes with a sign and trade though; losing cat for nothing was not the greatest, but losing bonzi for nothing would blow chunks.

My hypothesis is still that Bonzi's agent called the Bee and other people around the league telling everyone that Bonzi's unhappy with the deal the Kings offered him, and Bonzi's decided to sign somewhere else. Then he sits back and waits to see if the Kings raise their offer. People at the Bee take his word for it, and the rumor is born.
Lebron & Bonzi would be a great 1-2 punch imo. Better than a LBJ and Hughes combo. It brings some defense and toughness to the team. Hughes becomes expendable, and could bring in a good PG. Furthermore, it seems that the Cavs and Gooden are even close to getting a deal done. The problem is that their thin frontcourt becomes even thinner.
Gooden is no shotblocker, nor much of a defender overall.
Would I rather have him than Kenny? Sure. But he's nothing you trade a valuable piece for if you've already got Kenny and Reef -- he's right in that same class of lower level undersized starters like the guys we have. Just as a point of interest:
