Okay, after browsing on ClutchCity for the last ten minutes, I've come to a conclusion: I apparently like Shane Battier WAY more than everybody else. I heard about the Battier trade and thought the Rockets got the better end of the deal; Rockets fans are ready to slit their throats.

I like Shane too. Not sure I trade a potential star for him though. Maybe if I were close. But when you finish near the bottom of the league...

Nonetheless, I like TMac as an OG next to Battier. That's a solid solution to their backcourt woes. Could get burned though if Gay blossoms.

althougth they lost Ratlif, I wonder if drafting all those players will decrease the chance of Pryzbilla re-signing?
Well heck given all the changes in their line up in aobut 12 hours no one in Portland may even know who exactly IS on the team. We could just aks Joe to come on dwon and play and it might be midseason before anyone up there even notices he is gone! ;)

So I am reading that Stromile Swift is also going to the Grizz in that deal along with Gay for Shane Battier. At least the Rox dumped him back on the Grizz. Still, what a trade for the Grizz.

As for Joel these moves tell me that they are going to into even more of a rebuild situation, I think he goes...TO SACRAMENTO!!!

I hope.

I for one have no clue what's going on with the Blazers, but I have a friend or two that works at the Rose Garden and I expect with all the shuffling going around she may be giving plenty of free tickets out at the beginning of the season. I had to stop watching the draft at 6 so I'm still trying to catch up.

That move is hold until July 1st, it seems.

I was perfectly ready to slit my throught after this. The Rockets need YOUTH in their lineup. They have no athletes to complement Yao and TMac and their pick was perfect for their lineup. I just dont get it.

He doesn't see the game remotely like a PG -- can't teach that. Sees it for himself. Only thing he can do as a "PG" will be to bring it up and dump it off to somebody. No ability to create for others though.
As long as the Kings keep Miller at the high post, this shouldn't be a problem, right? I think at one point in his NBA life Bibby averaged 8+ assists, but he didn't sniff those numbers in a Kings' uniform because of the system and the passing bigs. Will be interesting to see how the new staff handles the offense.

Rockets made need youth, but they needed a solid SF to put next to TMac that can (a) hit an open three with some consistency, (b) play defense against the tough perimeter players in the league (allowing TMac to take the other guy), and (c) do the little things. Battier isn't old, and he brings all three of those things to the table. No one knows what Gay will do in the NBA, but if paired with two guys who are going to dominate the basketball, I think there's a significant chance that he starts coasting.

If Gay blows up with Memphis, I'll happily eat crow, but don't ignore the fact that he's going to a team without a perimeter oriented star, so he should have much better opportunities. The Rockets didn't need someone to take touches away from Yao and TMac, imho.

This is correct, he was a "prototypical point guard" when we traded for him, after coming into our system now he's an out of control "combo guard" to his detractors. I wouldn't be surprised if things change a little bit in the new system.

Nobody knows yet, which may be your point.

I doubt if Muss even knows for sure until practices start and he can see how the pieces fit together and not just look at names on paper.

That's why I just laugh when folks start talking about who does and doesn't fit the new "system"....
