Finals Game 6

Not during the playoffs though -- Miami fans have traditionally sucked, but they were great during the playoffs, and that sea of white was really tremendous.
They were better in the playoffs, but I thought the fans in Dallas show a lot more energy. I can't believe some here would rather have Shaq win another championship rather than Mark Cuban. Shaq's talked so much crap about the Kings. As much as I admire Dwyane Wade, seeing Shaq not get deservingly humbled leaves me unsatisfied. That's one of the reasons I loved the Detroit/Laker series in 2003-04.

I'll go on the record saying that I'm right there with you :)

Walker, payton and Shaq.

How the HELL are people here happy?

Where is the kool-aid, I need some now
Negatives:

Walker -- but have to admit my respect for him went up in these playoffs as he came up big at times
Payton -- classic moment him getting a turnover aqs he turns to yap at the ref ratehr than play. What an ***. On the other hand, also another respect thing as he coldly nailed some of the biggest shots fo the series. Wanted it.
Shaq -- BUT, there is the whole Shaq winning eats at Kobe and the Lakers angle, so its not all bad

But the rest? A lot of redemption stories there. Even for guys like Walker and Payton. But especially Zo, JWill, Riley himself.

Posey -- not a fan, but works his *** off
Haslem -- have no feelings about him either way, but also works his *** off
Zo -- works his *** off, and an old warrior getting one more shot. Left his heart on the floor. Hard not to respect that.
JWill -- hey, happy for the not-so-kid. After all these years still feels a little Kingsy.
Wade -- coming out party. He and LeBron are a godsend for the NBA. Young, classy, superstars, for the first time in forever.
Riley -- I've argued in the past I think he might be the best of all time. This certainly only strengthens that claim. And after a lot of years of heartbreak, to be able to come back and do it one more time made for a nice subtext.

That said, now they've had their redemption and I'd just assume many of them fade from the stage now. No need for it to go too far and start up a Heat dynasty or some such. ;)

I think the Shaq factor overshadows the positives of any "redemption stories".

I'd rather see him be sad than the whole team be happy any day.

Even if Peja or some other king besides JWill were on there.\

And I'm not ashamed.

and I could not care less if he "sticks it to kobe" big whoop, what the hell does he care?

However, I was probably more down about San Antonio going down to Dallas and being on the receiving end of some bad calls. Duncan and Ginobili are two of my favorite players and there's no ego with the Spurs and they quietly get the job done.

one good thing about shaq is that the lakers, kobe, phil, and buss all have to take this

Never works this way, but this would actually be a good time for a bunch of the Heat vets to ride off into the sunset. Go out on top. Payton, Moounring, and I think Riley has provven his point one more time for anybody who had maybe forgotten.

But like I say, never works that way. They'll probably all want to come back, be even a step slower, and end up losing their last game as a pro rather than winning it. Zo will say he can still play, Riley will come back out of loyalty to his players, Shaq will convince Payton, etc.

Here's the interesting thing -- I said before the season began that the one guy the Heat would probably like above all others to be their third gun would be Peja Stojakovic. Peja is a free agent. What if he actually DIDN'T make a money grab and went to the Heat for the MLE?
Well Payton definalty ought to think aobut going out on top, Zo might have another 15 min per game season left in him but as for Riley I have to disagree. Sure he could go out on top now but a few adjustments and this squad will be good to go next season (see your own idea about bringing in Pedja or another sharp shooter) and Riely really just proved a very important point: There are great coaches in the NBA and ther are Van Gundys and never the twain shall meet. Personally I would LOVE to see Shaq and Pat do a few bill boards for So Cal!
Riley is the the key to a possible repeat by the Heat if he goes and they bring in a new guy forget it.

Nah.. people said Payton was done after the Lakers fell short, had nothing left to contribute, hell at the start of this season I remember everyone saying Shaq was finished. Walker, Payton, J-will, even Zo all made Signifigant contributions to this championship run... the biggest thing to remember is that D-Wade will be back next year, one year more seasoned, one year more experienced and infused with a championship swagger. The Heat will certainly look to make some tweaks but all those guys have proven they can provide a strong support for the 1/2 punch of Shaq and Wade. Just like Shaq has proven he can open up the court for others just by stepping on the court... Shaq did what he said he would do, as long as Wade is there I wouldn't doubt he could do it again either. Nice trade LA... Shaq looks real washed up while he's holding that trophy above his head .

I hate the Lakers and the way they beat us when it mattered. Sure Kobe is still a Laker, but he never disrespected the Kings the way Shaq did. Shaq said stuff about Bibby, Christie, and the whole franchise. Some of it was funny, but seeing a guy talk trash about you and then win sucks.

Hopefully Musselman takes our team somewhere the way Avery did ...and if not I hope to see the Spurs back. Shaq has 4 rings and Duncan has 3 ...I've always wanted Duncan to beat Shaq.

Kudos to the Heat for winning this series. I was hoping the Mavs would win the title as I'm not much of a Shaq backer (although it's not as if he was the main reason, or even the second reason the Heat won this series -- 9 points in game 6, 5 in game 2, and I don't think he ever got to 20 points) or a Wade backer, and watching him parade to the free throw line time after time just reminds me of those Kings battles with the Lakers where Kobe and Shaq would get the "superstar" treatment.

But the Mavs had their chances to win this series, and they didn't take advantage of them. Huge parallels exist between the Mavs performance in the NBA Finals and Kings performance in the 2002 WCF, imho. But in the end, the superstar won the title, and Dirk, while he had good numbers, didn't have spectacular numbers in any of the 6 games.

Called him a cub scout, right?

Oooohhhh. Scawy.

A lot of what you say is right about the Mavs blowing opportunities to win. If they would have clamped down in Game 3 towards they end they should have had the series. They figured Wade is playing his @ss off and this will be the game that we give them. It turns out it was just the beginning of Wade's dominance in the series. That's a lesson for every team. Never give the opposing team a chance. NEVER.

I disagree slightly...

In the end, the TEAM won the title. And they did it by playing solid textbook basketball. It just shows once again that those who live by the jumpshot die by the jumpshot.

Don't have much respect for Shaq. Have said I never ever want to see him in a Kings uni for precisely those reasons. But it was many years ago and many miles away, and it fades. Shaq is still an idiot. But not our idiot anymore. And he very celarly was not the story for the Heat. Shaq didn't win a title. Wade did. Riley did. Shaq was mostly along for the ride.

It'wasn't scary, but it was disrespectful considering Bibby didn't do anything to bring that comment on. He was chosen for the Olympics or whatever and Shaq has a cow about it. How is that Bibby's fault and what's Shaq's need insult him? This is when the Kings/Lakers hatred was at its peak, but at least Kobe didn't go to Shaq's level with his comments.

As a longtime Kings supporter I'm happy for J-Will, as a long time Celts supporter I am actually happy for Walker even though most aren't. I don't care how big a tool he's been, he did some nice things for them when nobody else would have. I'm happy for Payton who didn't get a ring when he probably should have, and that he didn't get one when he joined the Lakers but gets one now. I'm happy Shaq's not a Laker and the Mavs still haven't got one before we have. I'm happy Kobe looks like a bigger tool, I almost wish I still lived in LA just to hear how they react on local talk radio tomorrow... but, I'm glad I don't.

I agree.
