Scoreboard Watch/Playoff Standings Watch 2025 Edition

Are you comparing us to a team that just made a playoff run and get this didn’t run it back they went and got better and are now 37-19 with the same head coach for 4+ years. They lost to Cleveland of course the sky isn’t falling we got blown out by a 9th seeded team and we have no hope for now or the future. We have no team identity, no defense, no star the sky is falling unless you’re delusional
That might end up being the case but the Kings just changed out half their rotation, and the Knicks started the season off the same way trying to work through a totally new identity with people thinking they really F'd up after a 5-6 start. The issue for the Kings is that they don't have a whole season left to get back on track. So much of this game is momentum based. Nobody will even know what this team is until next season. Even if the Kings miraculously run off the streak of streaks to end the year you can't really even trust it because it might not be sustainable.

We also have 3 Allstars, I don't get this logic of us having no stars. We litteraly have 3 Allstars. Not potential Allstars but legit Allstars. What's delusional about the obvious Allstars on this team
Lavine, Sabonis, and Derozan ain’t stars there’s no such thing as having three stars and being a play in at best team

Yes I am, and you wasn't singing that tune when we won 7 in a row.

If you want, simply take Christie's time as coach. He is 15 and 10. Witch puts us in line for a easy playoff spot if we take that record alone.

However you wanna slice it, it's 1 game. We also have a team full of vets who understand it's 1 game not a young rookie team.

I dont believe flipping the switch is out of the question for this team. And let's not act like the Knicks are the role models for a franchise as of late
What do you think is gonna happen differently? Is Lavine, DD, and monk turning into decent defenders. Christie record is good but I don’t see how we beat any play in game to be honest. We have close to zero chance at beating Dallas or GSW and Minnesota would be favorites over us we have a shot vs this but the other two are blowing us out

These three players have 11 All-Star appearances between them. It's fair to question whether they have figured out how to work together as a team, and it's fair to question whether they can under ideal circumstances work together as a team, but to to suggest that none of these players are stars is basically completely indefensible.

Suns have been unbelievably bad the last month or so, and they still have by far the toughest schedule remaining. Even if LaVine fails to mesh well with the other starters, the Suns may keep us in the play-in anyways!

We have different definitions of stats then cause Lavine isn’t close to a star for me

You must be reffering to superstars. And there are about 5 of those. Other than that, your definition is unrealistic
I think a star should be someone you GM could build around and have a good team you can’t do that with Lavine I don’t think you could with Sabonis as well his lack of one on one scoring is a large weakness especially to go with his defense

All the turnover, turmoil and changes we've been through and somehow the Suns are still worse than us. They are a MESS
We may eventually need Phoenix to step up and take our play-in spot, if our team continues to sputter.

If we are not up to #7 or # 8 for the playoffs standings, I think the likelihood of making the playoffs as the #9 or #10 seed is extremely low. I think it would be better to drop out of the play-in if that were the case. If we miss the play-in, we should be #12 in the pre-lottery draft standing, meaning we likely keep our top 12 protected first rounder.

They unfortunately still have a bright future if they commit to a rebuild. They could ship Booker to Houston for a haul and KD to a contender for a haul as well. Fortunately Booker said he’d stay for a rebuild so they’re gonna be in no man’s land
tell that to the Suns
Suns have two stars and has a really good team then decided to burn that for Beal. They traded Ayton, CP, and Camera those guys are literally perfect role players and Camera is probably a top five wing defender.

What are your thoughts on Booker and Durant?
Both stars

Suns lost at Memphis despite having 5 players with 20+ points. Mostly thanks to Morant that was awful in the first half and was amazing in the 4th and overtime.
Spurs lost at New Orleans again and they look to be out of the picture, I wonder if Fox makes that surgery and avoid coming/playing at G1C in 7th of March?
Mavs are throwing bricks non stop at LA in the match that probably the whole world is watching. Luka got a tech early in the game protesting for a foul that wasn't called but went nuclear for the next 3-4 minutes he spent on the floor before going to the bench.
Warriors have a big lead against the LaMelo-less Hornets.

Is there a way to compare our strength of schedule to the Lakers and Warriors in the month of March? The difference is insane off first glance. We have back to backs against juggernauts and those teams are routinely getting 2-3 days off with games against bottom feeders wtf

Updated situation in the Playoff race:

6. LAC, 31-26, - -
—————————
7. MIN, 32-27, - -
8. GSW, 31-27, 0.5 GB
9. DAL, 31-28, 1.0 GB
10. SAC, 29-28, 2.0 GB
—————————
11. PHX, 27-31, 4.5 GB

I haven’t included the Spurs as they are now tied with Portland and are veering towards the tank race and not the play-in race. Phoenix is out of the picture for top 6, their only hope is the play-in. I want to say, barring injuries, the Kings ceiling is the 9 seed right now.

Our head to head record against each team in the race (important for potential tiebreakers):

vs LAC, 0-2
Mar 9 @ LAC
Apr 11 vs LAC

vs MIN, 2-2

vs GSW, 2-1
Mar 13 @ GSW

vs DAL, 2-0 (Tiebreak clinched)
Mar 3 @ DAL

vs PHX, 2-0
Mar 14 @ PHX
Apr 13 vs PHX

Teams ranked by toughest remaining strength of schedule to easiest (league SOS ranked in parentheses):

1. Phoenix, .558 (#1)
2. Sacramento, .544 (#2)
3. LA Clippers, .531 (#7)
4. Dallas, .494 (#19)
5. Golden State, .492 (#21)
6. Minnesota, .439 (#29)

Looks like Minnesota is an absolute lock to stay ahead of us, even if Randle stunts their momentum their schedule is so easy and ours is so hard that it’s impossible to catch them.

GSW would likely need a serious injury or two to give a chance to surpass them.

Dallas has an easy schedule but their injuries may have them in a race to #9 with us.

Can’t see Phoenix catching us, their situation is toxic and they have an insane schedule.

The KINGS schedule is likely why they won't make it.

Not only are they 14 games into a 23 game stretch where they have one instance of playing at home for more than one game, once they finally do return home for an extended 7-game stretch, 5 of the games are against murderers row. Then it's off again for another 6 game roadie back East.

If the KINGS do qualify for the play-in or better, they will have really earned it.

I'll give it a try,
- DDR has 11 playoff series in 16 seasons of play, (most when he was a much younger man, was Jordan with the Wizards a star?)
- Lavine has 1 playoff series in 11 years of play
- Sabonis has 3* series in 9 years of play

I'm inventing playoff series per year just now as a criteria for categorizing players as stars. IMHO, a "star" should be measured by their competitiveness at the highest level. There's a lot of "good player on mediocre team" energy with our best players

*I'm excluding the series he played with OKC where he got in the game for 6 minutes the whole series, basically a non-factor

Apparently, no one wants to watch the Kings vs the Clippers on March 9, so the NBA canceled the national broadcast on ESPN and replaced it with Milwaukee vs Cleveland.
