[Game] 55/82: Kings @ Pelicans 13 FEB 2025, 5:00pm PT/8:00pm ET

DDR’s complete lack of defensive effort is even more glaring when his hero ball isn’t working on the other end. Frustrating to watch. Monk isn’t a good defender, but he at least tries.

Keon deserved more minutes. JV did too. Offense shows up in the box score and I realize that’s the side of the ball that people seem to care about most but we won’t do anything meaningful with this lack of defense.

Disappointing loss. More time is needed to properly assess the roster changes but I just don’t see the defense improving without cutting PT of Monk, DDR, LaVine, and Sabonis to give more to Keon and JV.

Now i have to mute everything basketball related on twitter. This is just gross
Muting everything basketball on twitter has the side benefit of me just taking 24-48 hours away from twitter because aside from basketball all I see there is the stuff a living Bond villain has decided I will see whether I want to or not.

I deleted it after the trade deadline and my mental health has improved dramatically haha. It’s really tempting to go back on for the latest scoop but it’s for sure not worth it

A couple things bother me about this game:

1. The refs make huge a mistake down the stretch. I bet you the 2 minute report will show that DeRozen were being fouled while attacking the basket and should have been giving two free throws.
2. Team overall defense is not sustainable. As I said before, NOT ONE SINGLE GUY on the starting lineup can play great D. I think Keegan is only slightly above average but at time still soft.
3. Christie need to find a balance lineup of mixed and match of offense and defense...you can't have a bunch of great offensive players out there that couldn't guard anybody. That's why Malik come off the bench if you have great defensive player in FOX. But if you insert him into the starting lineup, it make the overall team defense weaker. Not to mention other guys that don't play D like DeRozen and Lavine.
4. I think it's tough on Christie because he can't pull DeRozen or Lavine from the lineup in favor of better defender since he doesn't want to upset them. And at the same time, he needs scorers. He can't put Ellis in there at time because he may need length to rebound? But tonight, he should bet on Ellis, not Keegan. Keegan isn't that great chasing guys around. He let Klay scored a wide open 3 the other night due to his slowness.
5. I talk about how DeRozen is a horrible defender....so is Zack Lavine. Holly crap, his inability to keep guys in front of him and also taking bad angle is terrible.

I’m honestly one offseason away from being done with this team. Gonna see how things unfold in the summer. If there’s no true hope then I might be out. Going on 27 years as a fan from Los Angeles. The ineptitude is just too damn high. I wanna stay committed but the unnecessary stress may not be worth it anymore.
Sounds like you've actually been done since the 2006/2007 season, but have been living in denial ever since. Life may have finally caught up to you.

This sucks but I’m not going to go from optimistic to “the sky is falling and no one here knows what they’re doing” lol things will balance out. We won 3 out of 4 and i honestly wasn’t expecting that
using Mike brown 5 game benchmark, we are 4-1, 4-1, 3-2, 1-4 and currently 3-1 since Christie took over. This loss sucks but I think we are still on the way up.

Might as well auto-spam Sac never winning a championship in my lifetime, and I might be able to retire even earlier.
You’d have to roll it into life insurance obv but if anyone reputable offers that to you you gotta take it. I’m assuming Kings will never win it all and just enjoying the ride. Just important to remember post-mortem retirement isn’t as enjoyable as the alternative

Good lord I’m not even sure a win tonight would have mattered. I’m sure teams like the Suns and Warriors will have a ton of Hornets and Jazz matchups coming

Yeah I fear this team is going to end a 9/10 seed and miss the playoffs and lose our draft pick in a good draft while this years draft pick plays in the G League due to a crowded back court.

Hell of a strategic plan.

I just don’t see that happening. I don’t see the kings trading an in prime Sabonis. Lavine if he plays the way he did tonight might be a trade asset by the deadline but limited return given the dollar amount. Deebo only fits a handful of teams. I’d imagine one of Deebo or Lavine could be gone but that might be a buying situation for the kings as opposed to a sell
I mean, it would obviously have to be a major downfall, but for sure this is a franchise toeing the line right now. Domas might actually be able to be factored into a rebuild considering he's not that old.
