Fox Watch 2025

I don't understand what the big deal is. You guys have spent the last three months looking for reasons to hate on Fox, anyway; this should lowkey make y'all happy.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been doing quite the opposite. I've been looking for pretty much every angle to view Fox and family in a favorable light. Despite being a committed Kings fan (who now lives on the east coast), I'm still very pro-player, and I tend not to get hung up on the uglier parts of the business that fans can occasionally take personally. But being a salty, bitter ex after forcing a trade to your destination of choice is not a good look, especially after the Kings worked to build a real, sustainable winner around you.

I started to turn on him after the Detroit game but I'd hardly say I was looking for reasons so much as being disappointed that we were being given reasons. I think that I have one of the most charitable wait and see pair of purple tinted glasses of anyone on this site. I loved the dude and my post history prior to the Detroit game shows that.

Yeah we're often guilty of building these guys up to be something they are not in our minds but the Fox family went out of their way to ingratiate themselves in the community and now we're seeing that it was all a PR stunt and not real. It's uncomfortable knowing you've been hoodwinked.

Never underestimate how fake some can be, especially when there is multi millions on the line

It just says soooo much that he chooses to respond to the very few trolls, rather than the people that are still actively showing him so much love all over social media and outside of it. That says a lot more about him than anything else IMO and it proves immaturity was an issue with him here, and not just the evil, clueless front office everyone wants to keep discussing.

Fox did a few solids for some influential people that helped them build a brand on twitter and other social spaces and bought their loyalty but I doubt he'll be giving them anything else now that he's gone. These people post about "once you know what really happened" but all of them only have one side of the story too. One or two of these same posters used to literally beg the FO to notice them on twitter.

Same, I’ve always defended things like Fox’s body language when people wanted to see him pissed off about losing. Even after the trade I wanted to see his side of things and that family can matter more than business in going back to Texas. I would maybe have defended him unfollowing Domas if he’s just wanting a break (altho you can mute someone on insta without unfollowing them but whatever)

coming back and telling fans “yeah I did it on purpose and yeah it’s because I wasn’t close with Domas” is just toxic, childish, behavior. Even if you weren’t close personally why go out and publicly say something about someone you accomplished so much with? In a way I’m happy about it. It makes it obvious that he’s not someone who needs or deserves defending from this fan base. And when he’s saying this publicly, and *needlessly* too, it says a lot about his character. This has been a leak-free FO so it’s increasingly obvious the local media guys were getting fed stuff by his camp and he was just causing drama to get out and, evidentially, that’s who he is. We’re better off without him.

I remember how happy Fox was when Domas first arrived so this seems childish and petty.

There's a saying that goes something like.. Rain will reveal leaks in your roof, time will reveal cracks in your character.
Like I mentioned earlier this sours my memory of "the hug" which seemed like such a special moment in turning around the favors of this franchise.

Oh so when Boogie scowls on the bench after a loss he’s being a cancer but when Wemby does it it’s just his competitive spirit.
Most unforgivable thing this franchise has ever done was failing that dude. He was a lottery hit and a couple playoff appearances away from being a Kings’ lifer and FIREY COMPETITOR instead of what he got painted as.

Obviously Fox saw this team and it's fans as a "business venture", which in many ways it is, considering players get traded and let go all the time. I am actually fine with him wanting to leave and go to San Antonio, since that is where his wife and family is from.

The part that leaves a bitter taste for me is that instead of being a man about the situation, he tried to manipulate the narrative and place the blame on the team, when the team tried to build the team around him to have success. Be a man and say you know what, I'm going to be a free agent soon and my preference would be to go home to play on my next contract.

However, what I believe what happened was Fox strung the Kings along until he could see that his "business venture" of getting a super max was not going to happen and he started the master plan to get out of dodge by the trade deadline, trying to place blame on others. Well, if the Kings didn't achieve your lofty goals to "win more", shouldn't you shoulder some of the blame since you were supposed to be the "leader" of this team?

Ultimately, he's going to have a good career in SA and the Kings will be just fine, maybe even better without him. Leaders lead and Fox did not lead and often just coasted, especially in the end. It is sad, but he did this to his own legacy in Sacramento, he could had been a Legend. At the end of the day he will move on and so will this franchise. I'm happy to say I already see true leadership and fire from Monk as our PG that we never saw with Fox.

One of my good friends is a huge Spurs fan, didn't and doesnt want Fox. That is a 1 person sample size. :)
I wish I had kept in touch with the Spurs fan in my life.

He actually hated Pop and thought he jumped in opportunistically when they got Duncan. We lost touch somewhere between 2003 when I moved to LA (was my housemate in SB) and 2005 when I moved to Portland.

Would love to find out where he is now with Pop and also what he thinks about Fox. Odds are without me around he only watched 2-3 Kings games per year.

I am actually surprised how quickly I forgot about Fox. I’m only here because DLo and KC started talking about Fox unfollowing Domas and decided to make a quick stop over here.
That was not the case when boogie left and definitely not the case when Halliburton left. It took a while to stop following them with their new team.
Neither went on to publicly trash the Kings once they were moved, that's why.

I’m not surprised at all. Fox stopped being likable in any way a few years back. His lax demeanor both on the court and in interviews just gave nothing for us to get behind. Unlike Hali and DMC who portrayed they would fight and bleed for the team and city.
