Fox Watch 2025

The team that couldn't make it work for eight years now feels the need to criticize their player's way of seeking a better opportunity for himself.

What a full circle.
Couldn’t make it work with him as the “franchise” player, given the keys to the car the past 8 years. Don’t be disingenuous.

Better opportunity my *** ! He already had the greatest opportunity presented to him (as the face of a franchise) and couldn’t muster more than a single postseason appearance. Despite being surrounded by an all-star, an NBA champion role player, Tyrese Haliburton, and numerous other good players.

Now it’s the KINGS seeking a “better opportunity“ without him. (Btw, the “better opportunity“ Spurs are 2 games behind the KINGS).

For those that didn't watch the match and might think that "oh Fox gave it away for his team", Fox scored the last 2 baskets for the Spurs (that were behind the whole match), not so easy baskets, and almost scored that late buzzer beater as it is shown above in the video.

Also ironically he almost went out of bounds (his shoe was like few cm from stepping the line) in a viral moment with the whole Hornets bench pointing at his foot, and for 1/10 of 1m he could have made a turnover that could cost the match, and a bit after for 1/10 of a second he couldn't win the match all by himself again.

In that corner 3 I am not so sure that it was Fox fault that Miles Bridges was wide open.

(I have to watch Fox's matches for my daughter, but ok most probably i would have watched them just for myself as well, don't shoot me).

I watch Hornets games for there play by play guy he commentates like late 90s WWF
I've grown to love it over the past few years. I think in some ways Draper is trying to mimic Eric Collins with how he calls a game, but doesn't come even close. To hear someone sound so genuinely excited to see someone like Tidjane Salaun do anything on a basketball court has become music to my ears.

Personally, I dislike most announcers after listening to Scott Moak all these years (and also Gary Gerould on the radio). I like Mark Jones, but Draper gets annoying after a while. Way too many use gimmicky echos and way over the top announcing in arena. This is basketball, not the WWE, not a video game, and not a cartoon. I like enthusiasm and professionalism, not antics and artificial hype. It feels like they are pandering to elementary school kids.

The Detroit in-game announcer makes me want to cut my ears off, and even then it wouldn't help because my eardrums are inside my ear canals.

I realize some have different tastes. This is just my preference. Knock yourself out!

The difference between Eric Collins and Kyle Draper is that there's nothing "artificial" about Eric Collins. Collins is over the top, but he's absolutely bought into everything he says. Draper comes across as cosplaying sometimes.

I haven't ever listened to Eric Collins (that I know of) - my comment was a general one and not about him in particular. And, like I said, Draper gets annoying as well.

I clearly mentioned the shots he made. But, yes, then he definitely gave it away with the defensive lapse then foolishly thinking he had time to make an escape dribble.

I am sure.

Re-watch the play in its entirety. Fox got switched to Miles Bridges who then bolted from the paint to the corner. Swipa decided to cut off the drive rather than stay with Bridges when a 2-pt basket only would have tied the game. Poor decision. And similar to the poor decision he made against Detroit allowing the 4-point play to lose that game.

Spurs fans already talking about shelving Fox so they can tank the year. As good as a franchise as they used to be, they’re better at gaming the system.

Also, watching their last few games, Wemby no doubt is a once in a lifetime talent. It must kill Pop though to see a guy that skilled play almost exclusively in the perimeter. He thinks he’s a blend of Steph and Mcgrady, but to shoot logo 3s when no one can literally block your shot makes no sense. There’s a reason Steph and Lillard do that. I’m interested to see what the trajectory of a Fox Wemby team is, cuz I see 2 quiet dudes over there. Fox is definitely not that alpha leader and we’ll see if Wemby can evolve into that leadership role like Giannis and Jokic did

I gotta ask this. How come the KINGS get mocked for becoming the “Chicago Bulls of the West” just with Team Lithuania and a few others surrounding them yet nobody makes the same joke about the Spurs, referring them as the Sacramento Kings of the South?

They have just as many former KINGS in their starting lineup as the KINGS have former Bulls in theirs.

I’m sensing a double standard here.
