Bleacher report article today suggested:
  • Jonas Valančiūnas, C, Washington Wizards
  • Larry Nance Jr., F/C, Atlanta Hawks
  • Daniel Theis, C, New Orleans Pelicans
How about we call ATL and offer to drop the protection on our pick this year to Top 4? They need a pick and we can absorb his salary? Then we get off the pick now unless it's a top 4.

Dallas now 4.2 over tax after trade and Nico is insane so . . .
New Orleans need to cut payroll (that we could absorb). Any possibilities there?

Edit pdx suggested Theis.

Wonder if we could do all three. Probably not a reasonable deal to be had with Ainge but I wouldn't mind having a true backup PG on the roster. Jonas makes a lot of sense and Boucher is cheap yeah?

Then again we could just convert IJ's contract and give him big minutes.
I'd be real disappointed in going and getting Clarkson. You have Carter, you have Colby Jones, Mason Jones. One of those guys should be given the chance to secure a 10-15 MPG role, which is really what we're looking for right now.

Neither of those guys can run the point?

This is Pelinka but just curious how it might affect us, I imagine the market is "dry" for teams with no assets and hopefully not for us given the targets that are out there?
Alot of what is being put out there right now is just BS smokescreen posturing. I wouldnt read too much into it. There are plenty of bigs available, at what price is the only question.

I guess the other part is we're looking for a 10-15 minute guy and they have to replace AD.
Usage wise they only need to look for a lob threat that can block shots. I'm surprised they aren't linked more heavily to Capela, he'd be perfect for them for the rest of this season. I bet they will find something by the deadline or on the buyout market. In the meantime, they can give Hayes/Vanderbilt the run at the C spot and go scrape Christian Wood off their IR and see if he can still play at all.

Sounds like they don't want to pay much by those quotes, ie "F a first for Time Lord, y'all crazy"

As long as Harrison is making terrible moves, why not reach out to see what PJ Washington would cost?

Honestly, with AD likely to eat up almost all the minutes at PF, he's not as valuable to the Mavericks as he was before that trade.

You don't need someone who can. Monk, Domas, DDR, LaVine will initiate basically everything.
The idea was to have one honest to goodness PG on the roster though. Break glass sort of thing. Especially since we're unsure how things will go with the second unit. He might be too expensive for that role with the other needs we have though.

Wonder if Monte is just waiting until closer to Thurs when teams that WANT to move players get desperate? If it were me, I'd be calling Washington and grabbing Jonas Valančiūnas for two SRPs (if he's truly available for that) and stat.
If that deal is available we gotta just ship the Wiz that CHA 25 pick and run away before they change their minds.

I thought we had their 1st 6 years from now.
We will owe them a swap so technically you're both right?

It's far out I probably would keep both the Minny and whichever our pick is in 2031, that worst of SA/SAC pick will be viewed less positively than a 2025 or 2026 second right now.
