Good point. I don't know the star guards that are available or that will be available in the next year, so I can't answer the question.
I get that it's always a negotiation and a card game but there is some danger to implying Castle is off limits because he'll be better than Fox in 3 years anyways because maybe Fox says "Do I really want to be there?"

You really think a team is going to give the farm for a rental? Nope. This is how the league works now, Monte has to deal with it and move on. Just be glad that this is about 6 months early and not 6 months late.
No apparently we’re not getting the farm anyways if SA doesn’t wanna give up a decent deal trade him somewhere else for a decent deal

I don't see it. Mainly because of the money involved. Vassel is getting paid and Sochan is about to. The last thing you want to do if you're Monte is tie up possibly 50 million per year on players just for value sake. After next season you might be looking at 70-80 million just between those two and Keegan.

Keldon Johnson/Zach Collins/3-4 picks for Fox would be a great deal if the Spurs were willing.
Has to be 5 picks if it is just Keldon and Zach. 4 acceptable with Sochan.

8 picks if we have to take Vassell.

But you would also hopefully be removing Demar's salary and replacing it with a rookie scale contract. I am also not sure Vassel would be in the long term plan here. I am hoping you'd move him in a year or two, and move forward with a Domas, Keegan, Monk core, supported by Sochan, Keon, Carter, Collins, and the draft picks.

Personally, I see Castle more of throw-in than anything else. His 3-point shooting is subpar, which isn't good for a guard in a 3-point league. He's more of a hope and prayer type of player than being close to a sure thing.

I'm sure Monte is trying to leverage as much as he can right now, but he's not in control. History shows waiting isn't an option in situations like this. Maybe he can wait until summer, but those offers won't get better if similar situations are any indication.

I think of Sochan as a 4/3 and Collins as more of a 4/5, so I think there is room for both, but maybe you want the Cam scoring if you have Sochan, Keon, Keegan, and Carter already in the 9 man rotation. You could do the same trade, but with Cam instead of Collins, but I suspect more of the draft consideration would go to Brooklyn (probably one of the Hawk picks or Spurs pick instead of the Bulls pick).
I agree on this assessment, but Sochan is pure defense so I like the thought of pure offense with Cam who is a little bit in the same boat as Keegan but offense first and Sharpe can bet your 4/5. Either way, it's 3 good players to shore up depth at the forward spots we lack.

We also have to prepare for DDR leaving in the offseason if this isn't at least a 2nd round playoff team. So maybe you also move him before the deadline if you must.

I also view him that way - the way they are talking about him as SGA and Luka level is insanity. Acting like he is the centerpiece he is just one pellet of buckshot that we are hoping hits the center of a target.

The Spurs would hopefully be sending fairly valuable picks though. Take the quality over quantity all day. Also, Johnson and Collins actually could actually be rotation pieces on top of it as well. It makes sense to me. Johnson is a solid player and pretty young himself.

Take less from a different team don’t reward those cowards Portland set the example

That’s absolutely a risk worth taking.
Even if we get two healthy years from him that’s two playoff runs instead of the alternative at a cheap price

There is so much that goes on just in terms of keeping business relationships open. Monte isn't going to set fire to the bridge just out of spite. This was coming, he knew it, we all pretty much knew it, now pick up the pieces and start building. If the Kings play w/o Fox was real, this probably won't skip a beat anyway.

SA Media reporting a deal is almost done while everyone else says it isn’t tells me someone is trying to strong arm us into a deal by faking it until they make it.
Or that Monte is still letting the local Sac media feel how it is to be left out, haha. If all the Sac media is left in the dark the butthurt with the Kings FO we're already seeing is nothing compared to what's coming lol.

Why hasn’t not doing what the agents hurt Portland or SA them? Portland still has trades going through still has draft picks coming though

And still has absolutely been a cluster F. No team is getting shut out, although remember not too long ago, the Kings were about as shut out as you can get. Not getting workouts in the draft was bad enough. The Blazers are a totally different beast. The Kings I would imagine aren't just willing to float until somethings snaps into place like they are.

Monte is smarter than we give him credit for. He may not make rash or quick decisions but the guy knows who fox is. He's been trying to replace him every draft for years.

When Fox sits we have won good games. I domt know why everyone is so panicked. I like the guys we have on the team when Fox simply sits his ass down.

I want Ellis to start for one and I can't think of any of our starters I honestly don't want to start.
That's a amazing place to be at.

Only thing we need guys is a back up wing and a back up center. We can get that without even trading Fox. The fact that we will still be good no matter how this trade goes down should give at least some credit to the GM.

Everyone needs to relax and be happy we are being talked about for once. And this time we have the keys. How often has that ever happened. We are not tanking no matter what. Enjoy it!
