Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

I keep going back to MB3 being drafted to play with Fox and then trading Hali instead of Fox and now watching him leave.

I wanted Luka. I wanted to keep the younger star in getting Sabonis. To me, it didn't make sense but I hoped it would have worked out. I was wrong.

Hali/Luka/Domas and cardboard cutouts is a playoff team.

Im sure I could dig through the past and find many posts saying he’s UNTOUCHABLE. Maybe I’m misremembering and I’m definitely too lazy to look up anything. Lol
Mostly because the best players we've ever been linked to were on expiring contracts and specifically said they would not re-sign with us.

No the Spurs aren't serious. They've kicked the tires on a half dozen other players and are low balling us because Fox has shown interest. I don't know if they want him they just think they can have him.
I can't totally blame them... they have Wemby in year 2. Clearly a better team than in year 1. I just don't see the urgency for them to do something crazy. If I was them (especially knowing how Fox's hand is right now), I would probably take my chances that he doesn't get moved and punt to the offseason also. Who knows if Fox really is all ga-ga over the thought of playing with Wemby, he could ask for another trade in the offseason even if we do move him somewhere else.

It’s every fanbase ever. We were treating Keegan like they are Castle just a few short years ago.
it’s not about Castle for me. They want the Spurs to wait until ‘26 and give up nothing for Fox.

Kings fans didn’t want to trade Keegan for Siakam and they shouldn’t. Older, more expensive, worse defensively and you are still left with one wing. Same with Lauri, better player but makes you worse on defense and costs twice as much.

Spurs fans want it all for nothing when they already have everything.

Even if we had just worked out and drafted JJJ we'd be fine. Maybe even better since JJJ was hurt a lot and we may have still gotten Hali.

I have a feeling that Spurs will just move on to another target.

Can we be real, is Fox the best running mate for Wemby?

Yeah, I had a bad feeling about the Hali trade, because of Fox' attitude and body language leading up to it. Knew right then and there, that he didn't have the head and heart to be a lead player for a contending team.

This is the unfortunate thing about this being where it's at. Fox isn't staying and even if he waffled you can't trust it. The Kings didn't trade for Siakam because he said he wouldn't sign back. This is a players league and the only thing Monte can do is make the best chicken salad out of this chicken **** and hope that his drafting, signings, and talent evaluations were correct all along. The Kings could play hard ball and wait, but then have the franchise in limbo for the next year and half? Nah, too much damage can be done in that time period.

I'm not hung up on getting Castle. But it sure sounds like a mult-team deal where picks are parted out for "win-now" guys.

That smacks very heavily of treadmilling. . .
If we give the good picks for Cam or Collins just shoot me.

If we get the two ATL picks I can at least look forward to rooting for us and being disappointed and rooting against ATL.

Even the two ATL picks and trading draft capital for Cam Johnson wouldn't be the end of the world. But if Castle isn't included the Kings should at the very least get Sochan and reroute him as part of this deal.

Multi-team deal that doesn't include Castle:

Sac Sends: Fox, Huerter, Lyles
Sac Receives: Vassel, Sochan, John Collins, 2025 Spurs pick, 2025 Hawks pick, 2027 Hawks pick

Utah Sends: Collins
Utah Receives: Huerter and Lyles, and Bulls protected pick from Spurs

Spurs Send: Vassel, Sochan, and 2 Hawks picks, 2025 spurs pick, and Bulls protected pick
Spurs Receive: Fox

That works salary wise, though the issue would be in the picks. You could do a lot worse. Spurs probably balk at the 4 picks. But Kings would be set up nicely.

Domas (36) | Collins (12)
Keegan (16) | Sochan (22) | Collins (10)
Demar (32) | Keegan (16)
Keon (20) | Vassel (28)
Monk (32) | Keon (8) | Carter (8)

Domas 36
Monk, Demar, Keegan - 32
Keon, Vassel - 28
Collins and Sochan - 22
Carter - 8

That is a way bigger and more defensive team. You add playable size to to 4/5 rotation (Collins), get to flex Keegan down to the 3 some, add a really strong defender (Sochan), and add an interesting wing piece in Vassel.

Then you trade Demar in the offseason, and either groom Vassel as your future 3, or use the assets from the Demar trade (and the three draft picks) to get a Demar replacement at the 3, with Vassel playing a super 6th man role.
