Nah, Kings would have to throw Keegan in there for sure. All of those teams can beat the Kings. That said, Lauri, good player, but if someone like Grant is a quarter the price just do that. Ainge is really good at polishing his assets. That's how he built the KG, Allen, PP team too. Don't fall for it.
Yeh some of those teams can out bid us but it depends on how aggressive they want to be. Does Indiana want to spend that kind of money? Do the Spurs want to start winning next year or have one more development year? How high did Danny have Carter on his board? Carter, Kev, 2 firsts and a swap might be the highest bid. Unlikely, but you never know

Carter has immensely more value for the Kings than other teams. Carter fell to 13, if teams were clamouring for him their best deal was likely made on draft night. What we do know is some of the Kings notable trade options at the time were pushed out the window when Carter was there. If you want to see Carter as a trade asset, good, hold onto him, play him and wait for a game changing move. Look at Hali for instance. On draft night, or shortly thereafter there's no way you can land a player like Domas for him. Teams will have to see something first. Otherwise you will have to probably put a stupidly valuable deal that might alter your future chances.

And another reason why this year might not be a "run it back" issue even if they "run it back". Teams right in the vicinity of the Kings are either getting worse, or not much better. And the ones not getting much better, are only getting older. If Monte can slash Huerter and Barnes off his cap sheet for 2025, or even a good chunk, with the new TV deal in place potentially increasing the cap up, Monte could actually have cap space to work with. Stay the course and cut some salary Monte if you can't land a star for cheap.

I mean, the good news is I don't think a single West team has gotten significantly better. Klay is pretty much name brand at this point, he's not really any different than THJ

But neither have we.
Given how we barely used Sasha last season and Carter is probably going to be more versatile and useful for us that Davion was right off the bat, I’m not sure if we’ve not gotten better

Keeping Monk, matters a ton. Full season of Keon and if Carter is a massive upgrade on Davion? All good things, but not sure if that equates to "better"

Like so far, the moves have been borderline perfect. But we just can't go into next year with HB and Huerter. That much was clear from last season. You got to find a way to flip at least one for something.

A player ready to play, provides intangibles the Kings didn't have last season, Keon showing what he showed, Keegan making a jump. These are better bets at this point than overpaying for a star. If Ingram can be had for picks and Huerter/Barnes great. If not, oh well.

Barnes maybe you can. Huerter is an issue. If he's beating out Monk, Keon, and Carter for minutes something is either really wrong, or the Kings are back to their playoff year form, haha.

If Monte can get expirings for Huerter and Barnes, it's feasible with the rumored cap increase that he could have upwards of 40+ million in space come the 2025 offseason.

DLo and KC said that they have heard nothing on Lavine or Kuzma. Said the Kings are in talks for 2 maybe 3 players but DLo couldn’t confirm the third one.

Right, I absolutely wouldn’t mind moving HB/Huerter plus SOME draft assets for a good wing/forward but I also wouldn’t mind playing the waiting game and seeing what happens in season when pieces start coming available and there are only like two or three other teams in the conference capable of going for them.

It helps when you get to hold a star hostage like PG over the Clippers and Shai just explodes into a superstar.

But yeah, there's no one better in the game. Not even close

yeah except it all started with Serge Ibaka

Sabonis was selected 11th overall by the Orlando Magic in the 2016 NBA draft. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder along with Ersan İlyasova and Victor Oladipo for Serge Ibaka on draft night.

Sabonis and Victor became Paul George

I'm very much willing to bet on our top 6. Carter and Keon is such a massive defensive boost to what we started last season with, it's not even funny. And just the perfect archetypes to surround our top 4 USG offensive cornerstones. Bet on a Keon leap, bet on Keegan leap, Carter should be very impactful as a rookie. All good things.

I just don't see where you slot HB and Huerter into this. Was apparent last season when Monk and Keegan took a leap forward; their value plummeted because they weren't feature offensive pieces. And both of them need shots, since that's their primary value on the floor.

Huerters got to go. Barnes would still be a starter at least.

I still think there’s a potential for a Huerter bounce back, and think he’s still valuable if he’s moving off the ball and teams have to chase him, even if he’s not shooting, but the guard rotation is crowded, there’s no way around that.

pretty much the same team that went 0-10 and badly against Pels and Houston.
