yeah except an all around scorer from the guard spot fits how? You really need players that can stretch the floor.
As for needing players who can stretch the floor, do you consider Carter to not be on of those players? He did just hit 38% on high volume while shooting 75% from the FT line. He’s not going to Steph Curry out there but I’m not down on his potential as someone who can space the floor.
As for him being an all around scorer, I think that’s an important trait to have. If all you can do is hit catch & shoot 3s at a high clip, you’re going to get defenses rushing hard on the close out and dare you to put the ball on the floor. Carter‘s ability to score in more ways than one makes it that much more difficult for the defense when they have to rotate to him after someone like Fox collapses the defense. They’ll have to respect his ability to drive and finish which could give him a bit more time to knock down that 3. This is even more important in the playoffs when you see defenses game plan for opponents and try to take away their strengths. If you have a player who can punish you in multiple ways, it allows that player to counter what the defense is trying to do to him.
