I just noticed from the boxscore that Juan Toscano-Anderson was on the bench and actually entered the game at one point, very briefly. The front office waived him on Sunday. This would be his third ten-day contract, but to what purpose?
Maybe it's a mistake, same thing happened at Memphis, and I don't remember watching him entering at any moment during the game.

What makes Jordy a better coach? Our defense is bad.
I at least know he's a better in game coach and I know that from a ten minute sample size - the same way I knew Kessler was an A level defender literally on the first possession I saw him play.

As for the other things - it's expected he'll be hired away as a head coach if not after this season then very soon. He's currently the head coach of the Canadian National team which had a pretty good showing recently.

He's basically Mike Brown's protege but with vastly better in-game coaching skills - as far as I can tell. Seems to have great rapport with players as well based on locker room vibes I've seen.

Fox hitting those 2 FTs was critical, and yes it was looking at least like overtime.......and certainly was ugly the 3rd Q. Put it this way, they won't be beating the Cavs with tonight's 3rd quarter replication. Silver lining was FTs though.
Fatigue definitely started setting in the second half. It’s a back to back but the fellas have been away from home traveling for quite some time now. That alone is fatiguing in and of itself. Couple those things together and it’s really no surprise we just began falling apart. It’s a natural tendency to start and keep shooting threes when you are tired. It’s a physical toll going to the hoop.

At the end of the day, we are 5-1 on this road trip with one game left. Ugly or pretty, the results speak for themselves and the team has really responded after the 4 game losing streak. And on the road to boot. Kudos to all of them. If we can learn how to tie together our good stretches while decreasing our bad ones, we are a problem for any team.

Love this entire post and perspective.

A bit off topic but Jordi's team Canada had also several times moments that they couldn't score a basket having bad runs with their opponents extending the lead (or cutting the lead when Canada was leading big). However what Jordi did most of the time was letting his players know that he trusts them, he was always calm, having kind of a "friendly" role, not looking that much as a mentor/teacher (and I mean it in a good way, don't get me wrong), that helped the team regain the confidence and respond to those bad runs. He didn't even take time outs that often in order to wake them up. Also he talked quite often with the refs but without raising his voice or protesting, even when the calls seemed at least to be against Canada.

Jordi was candidate for several head coach positions last summer but luckily for us he chose to stay in Sacramento or none of the teams picked him. With the Olympics by the end of the summer and Canada having the chance to have a really strong team available (with more NBAers playing this time) in case of a big success (a medal I guess, gold seems impossible with Team USA taking it too seriously this time) it will be hard to keep him as an "associate head coach" and I guess he will get offers from other teams.

I don't know what Jordi will do but I think Portland would be wise to hire him and he'd probably have a long leash and a lot of input into the team's overall direction. Hopefully when he leaves he doesn't take too many of our staff with him.

That said, there are teams that are closer to contention that are disappointing and will also fire their coaches and hard to imagine he might not get a shot at some of them.

Cost of being good.

Now 5-1 for the road trip and 6-1 since the 4 game skid. Going into this stretch it looked like we could have easily fallen out of the top 6 and into the play-in bracket. Instead we're at 5 with a 1.5 game cushion, altho still 4 back from the top 4.
This team as currently constructed should land in that 5-6 spot or slide into the play-in. I dont see them at the top 4, again as currently constructed

I could understand saying this after the 4-game losing streak but this team has won 6 of their last 7 games, 5 of them on the road and tonight was on the back half of a back-to-back with a flight in between. We're trending toward the top 4 or at the very least holding our own at the 5 seed right now.

All of this was accomplished playing one of the toughest schedules in the league so far.

Exactly this. “Play-in” shouldn’t even leave anyones lips or fingertips in regards to the Kings and their season, barring injury. IMO, of course.

I think the (very small) sample of 2 matches in Canada last season and Milwaukee the current one that Brown's ejection left him in charge and he turned things around both times only to lose at Milwaukee at the end with those free throws in OT
the turnaround in both of those games was due to Mike getting ejected standing up for his guys rather than anything Jordi did imo.

Mike Brown consistently makes adjustments and he’s alright with me for so many different reasons. Playing against a high powered offense last night and our defense in shambles? Insert Kessler Edwards. It’s decisions like that, we used to pray for over the years. I know i certainly did. Coach Brown absolutely deserves criticism just like Phil Jackson, Adelman and any other great coach, but the pining away for Jordi Fernandez is funny, considering the fact that i know he’d be ripped around here after a few games just like any other good or bad coach lol it’s all part of the game.

Thanks, you could be right. I did not even notice him on the bench. The Yahoo box score does not list him anywhere. It is of no great moment, except insofar as the front office has been trying to make a trade.

By this I simply mean an opinion that is not all good (because we have a winning record) or all bad (if our record were to be bad). Like a coach saying "we won - but we need to improve x, y, z"
Sure, that'd be fine. Everyone deserves criticism, absolutely.

But you've stated on this forum that Jordy Fernandez should replace Brown. I assume that means you'd fire Brown for a handful of other coaches too That's just nonsensical and no basis in reality. Which, in turn is why I just point to the scoreboard of our record and overall play the last season and a half and question everything about that statement.

Perhaps that is the case, Jordi also has a 2-1 record I think when MB was out with covid. 3 close matches, a defeat from Denver (with Sabonis out), a win vs Denver (with Sabonis back) and that big match vs Utah with Huerter hitting 30.

Maybe it's a "glitch" or how it's called, I see Bolden having the same "stats" (full zeros as if he entered for seconds) in Bucks game at Dallas and he was released weeks ago. It was a big thing here in Indonesia (he plays with national team as "naturalized"), and there was even a campaign for him to be in the All star Game, "go vote for him" and stuff, luckily he didn't make it cause not many basketball fans here.

yeh I’m sure Jordi is going to be a good coach. Coach Brown is 431-271 in his career. That’s going to be tough to beat and people can no longer say he road the coat tails of Bron given his success with the Kings over 2 seasons. He has weaknesses for sure but he is a galvanizer and he has shown good instincts. Several times this year he has out of nowhere inserted someone into the game on a hunch and it’s helped us win the game.

We missed 7 three pointers in a row in the third which really hurt us but we are quick to forget we built that big lead because we couldn’t miss from 3 a minute or two before the collapse. We also turned the ball over a few times. Legs gave out.

why do this surprises you ….
It’s coach and his way of selecting players ,‘if you are out of top 7 you don’t exist ….
Of all the criticisms about Brown in this thread, this one really makes me laugh. I know that your guy wasn't in the rotation before he got hurt, but "only play 7 guys" and "if you aren't in the top 7 you don't exist" is the EXACT opposite of Brown.

I count 16 guys who have been part of the rotation at some point this season. I mean, literally every guy on the roster except Slawson and Ford (including Ellis, JTA, Kessler, Javale, Mitchell, Duarte, Colby, and Len) have been in the rotation for at least a few games. If there is any criticism on his rotations, it is that he is constantly tinkering with the 8-10 spots in the rotation, and guys that people really like (Ellis, Len, Sasha, etc...) can disappear from the rotation for a few weeks. But I think it keeps guys 8-15 hungry- you can literally play your way in or out of the rotation at any time. I think guys at the bottom of the roster respond to that.

It is true that he generally only plays 9-10 guys per game, but that is true of most coaches. Most coaches aren't playin 11-12 guys every night.

Last but not least I don't get the Katie hate, I mean sure I understand she tries to be a "diplomat" not wanting anyone to misunderstand in case she makes a comment about a player not performing well, but still she seems objective, she is not like other teams commentators that talk like they want to please the fans raging against the refs etc. Same with Kyle Draper, both of them sound like very nice persons and it's hard not to like them, even if watching the game as an "opponent" I guess. Mark Jones on the other hand is more fun to listen to, he makes jokes easier, finds weird parallels between defense and "sofa covers", knows how to fire you up as a fan again without acting like an angry fan himself when things not going the Kings way. Don't know much about Morgan or Deuce, but having the podcast, youtube show and so on I am sure they talk differently from how they talk in the pregame/post game show that is on TV, never heard them when calling Stockton Kings' matches to have an idea though.
