I would have taken Moses Moody or Jalen Johnson before Davion but the 4 guys that got drafted after Davion haven't played very well either. It's not like there were a bunch of no brainers there.
I wanted to take a flyer on Johnson. But at that point he needed to take a swing on some wing. Good ones were still on the board. Or better trade Barnes, get a 1st and Nesmith and move up in the draft.

I don’t get all the Negativity/Nitpicking.
Just remember less than 2 years ago we had a very unbalanced roster with players that didn’t fit. The team was going no where and we always looked forward to the next draft come Jan/Feb.
Now we have a team that looks like a perennial playoff team.
Got Huerter for the scraps left over from the Sabonis trade and a likely late 1st rounder.
Signed Monk on a super cheap deal because of Fox ( I doubt he signs here if we had Halliburton instead of Fox).
Picked Keegan over Jaden Ivey. I was on the pick Ivey team and i bet everyone now feels that Keegan was the right pick.
Signed the right coach for this team.
Are super deep now with cheap additions of Lyles, Vezenkov, Duarte, Mcgee
Fox is now a fringe MVP candidate and still can be better
We needed to sign a wing defender and after 1 offseason Murray has turned into a ++wing defender
We have most of our picks and good contracts to trade if need be.

A lot of people here over react after a loss calling for this guy/that guys head. It could be a lot worse we could be 6-13 and already looking towards the next draft. I am enjoying this team and i doubt this is the finished product
Management has done a GREAT job.
I was absolutely not on the pick Ivey train. Lol

it’s not like I just started saying we needed wings. So you can call it more a proof point on an ongoing discussion versus a reaction after a loss.

Guys don’t forget that this Monte guy worked this far having a team which didn’t reach playoffs for pretty good time …. I am sure stars weren’t jumping on the front line for coming over to Kings …
So I think is ok to say that he did really good job , now we are talking even for title …. We have to respect him for that :)
no one is saying Monte is not a good drafter. People here want to claim he is some superstar drafter but he has not hit yet on a second or late first like the Pels and Memphis.

Yeah good point here. I think Moody was the pretty clear pick and it's looking like a pretty big misstep on not grabbing him Johnson or Sengun with how Davions development is shaking out.

I didn't even look at Davion tape because I just never thought he'd be on our radar with Hali and Fox and I believe still had Bogi RFA rights. Just never saw a path where he could become a huge minute player
I still remember Monte saying Davion could guard the 3 and I was like WTF.

He was mocked around 7 for a lot of that season, so I don't think it was too crazy in terms of BPA.

But the justification I came around to is Monte should be following his BPA, not what everyone else thinks he should be doing. We all operate with significantly less information than he does as the head of a billion dollar organization designed to scout basketball talent. If Davion was there highest rated player, then that was the "right" pick at the time.

The result has just been very very disappointing. Especially with how perfect Johnson or Moody would be with this current core right now.
yeah except guards always fall because most of the rest of the league values wings and length. So saying a guard didn’t go where he was projected can be said quite often

Barnes and Mitchell for... ??
Barnes and Mitchell for... Herbert Jones.

Or Barnes and Mitchell + future 1st pick for... Taylor Hendricks + filler. I know Hendricks is a rookie but he is 6'10" and is supposed to be good at defending perimeter players, so I would be willing to take that chance if nothing else is available. That future 1st should be late 20s if he pans out... 1 temporary step back for 2 steps forward.

I would hope to get a player like Hendricks without giving up a future first. I also think we could get more for just Barnes and Mitchell. We need to trade with a team around the deadline that is looking to get over the hump and needs Barnes' veteran savvy and some lock down on ball defense against a key opponent.

I wouldn't at all be disappointed if we refilled our tank of draft picks actually. Barnes and Mitchell for a couple first rounders sounds about right to me. We kind of have a glut at the 3-4 right now, now that it looks like Sasha will work out, and Keegan has taken the leap.

Is this post from the future?

No one is giving out first rounders for Barnes and Mitchell.

Brown needs to put Barnes in the 2nd unit and call plays for him. Could really help his game and the team. Start Lyles who brings size and length, until finding someone better
It seems obvious that Harrison Barnes is at the "move to the bench" stage of his career. There's no shame in it. He and Monk would form a pretty good 1-2 scoring punch going against second-stringers and that would finally give us a full-size backup SF and open up more minutes in the rotation for Lyles and Vezenkov. I think the only reason we haven't seen this look yet this season is that Lyles has been hurt and Coach Brown doesn't fully trust Vezenkov yet.

The finding someone better part is tricky. We don't really have the pieces to go after a big name unless we offer Keegan in return (which would be counter-productive) so we have to wait and see who becomes available by the trade deadline.

The only question im my head wich pop-up is how are you going to trust someone , if you don't trust him to gain your trust haha
Vezenkov surely has more possitive impact the negative but he still isnt gettign more meaningfull minutes ... 3/4 min at the end of 1quarter plus 2/3 as start of second and another 3 somewhere in the game is not serious ...
Give the guy 5/6 games with 20-25 minutes , at least half of them in the first unit and see if the is Great,ok or Bad ...

I didn't say that I don't trust Vezenkov, only that Mike Brown doesn't appear to. But also, this just appears to be his coaching style. Keegan had to earn his trust the same way last season. As long as Vezenkov continues to play well in whatever limited minutes he gets, he will earn a bigger role.

No mate, i meant the post for Mike Brown haha , not to you ...
I can not understand Brown here , he is like :
''sky is the limit of Sasha'' in presconference and the he is like ''aaaaa who the **** is this one with number 7 on my bench'' during the game ...
