Well, here we are, folks. It's, quite literally, "Win Or Go Home" time for OUR beloved Sacramento Kings.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and take a step back (well, a couple of steps back), and I invite you to do the same.

We had previously seen playoff action all the way back in 2006.

We hadn't had a WINNING season since that year.

I don't even want to begin to count the number of head coaches we've gone through since then, but we went through quite a few.

We even went through an ownership change.

We even feared that we'd not have a home team to root for.

But, we're here now. We stayed. We built (an awesome new HOME). We constructed (a roster that has so much potential that I don't even want to begin to dream about what that potential can be).

Be proud, Kings fans. Even in a loss, keep your head held up high, and smile. This team is BACK. And this team is making all of us PROUD.

With this all being said, I just have ONE more thing to say today...

Stephen Curry has averaged 40 minutes per game over five games. That is 200 minutes. There is only one day off since the last matchup. Can we make him pay? Hound him backcourt to frontcourt, side to side, hit him with double-teams, box-and-one.

Also, will Coach Brown alter the starting lineup? I know what I want to see happen, but the coaching staff tends not to make those kinds of adjustments. On the other hand, this is win or go home. Do something, don't just stand there!

Had this in the other game thread by accident:

As a competitor I can’t think we are just going to walk into chase and assume the fetal posItion. I can’t imagine this team doing that either. My question is what does it say about this team if they win tonight? Regardless of what happens potentially on Sunday. Fox having a broken finger, the Warriors having the momentum, our shooters not shooting, etc. What is your impression of this team if they win tonight? It tells me this team is a fighter, and has the ability to overcome obstacles, despite the fact we are just getting started on this ride.

It would tell me that the players are quick learners, that they can rectify their past mistakes and adjust any way they need to, in order to come out on top. As Yogi Berra once said, "Ninety percent of the game is half mental."

Yogi-isms are great. I was trying to think of one that applies to the fact that basketball is a lot more physical than baseball, but its hard to make something thats contradictory and makes sense. What a gem he was. No wonder he got the nickname "Yogi".

Would love to see Davion **** up Curry's night. He's been putting Steph in jail (at least as much as it's humanly possible to put a shooter like that in jail).

Sabonis needs to stop getting wrecked by a role player. Even if he can't score, the regular season rebounding champ needs to get better on the glass.

More Keegan please. Game 5 should have been a breakout for the rookie, but instead he was frozen out after an amazing 1st quarter.

Hopefully we get hero Monk again. He's a momentum changer for us.... Just sometimes it's good momentum and sometimes it's bad momentum haha

Huerter has to remember he's a basketball player.

Fox was clearly playing hurt in the second half of game 5. His jacked up finger probably spelled the end of our post season....

But it ain't over until it's over!!! Go Kings!!!! Wuck the Farriors!!!!

I'm going to be disappointed if Off Night is not in the starting lineup tonight.

Our Coach of the Year needs to recognize that the usual starting line up is not going to win this series for us. He needs to change things up and put pressure on Curry from the get go. Huerter can find his shot against the Warriors bench. We need a dawg to hound Curry from the tip off and help take the pressure off of Fox's finger and help bring the ball up court.

After reading the game 5 thread I mentally just checked out as I was sort of shocked that half the thread is we gotta trade this guy and that guy and pointing fingers. I get the frustration, but I am just going to stick with remembering that we were third seed after 17 long - very long years of nothing, but kicking stones out to our cars. This team has really given us such a huge spark, I believe, and light the beam. Given us the unlimited time to ring our cow bells as loud as we can. Shouting Keegan Murray (brought back out Yogi Bear hipe), the good calls along with bad calls but we just keep fighting. Yes it sucks Fox and Sabonis are playing with injuries, yes we want to win for Sacramento. But let’s remember these guys have been playing hard and I’m so thrilled to have Coach Brown who believes in his team and the team believes in him. It’s so great to see the changes, and I for one am so glad that I’m here to enjoy it all. Win or lose???? Hell we’ve already won more than any of us imagined going into this season. Thank you Coach Brown and to the Kings team players for giving us the opportunity for this hell of a ride.

And now?? LIGHT THE BEAM

I don't expect a change in the lineup, because when Brown was asked a question about the possibility, he said something along the lines of...that they don't want panic when 2 of the losses have been 1 possession games.

I would like to see an adjustment in the starting lineup, because if you don't and the same result happens, you'll always wonder "what if". Going away from a non productive Huerter is not an extreme panic type move, in my opinion.

If it were me, I would have already given Davis some of his time, to see if he has a hot hand.....and I'm not of the opinion that Huerter's defense is any better than Davis. For whatever reason Davis gets singled out and 'yelled at' when he makes a mistake on that end, but Huerter doesn't nearly as much when he makes just as dumb of a mistake, like when he fell asleep and got beat backdoor last game

I’m against a lineup change for 3 reasons

1. general continuity of lineup - Mitchell is used to coming off bench and Huerter is used to starting. Why change that? Let’s see if Huerter breaks out
2. Yes we want Mitchell matched with curry but do we want him playing 40 minutes to be with curry every second? I don’t, so there’s gotta be some points he’s not in there with him.
3. Mitchell plays aggressive, if he starts and even picks up 1 or 2 fouls to start that’s gonna effect the defense the whole game.

Kings have to run more in my opinion. Golden state is a passable or even good half court defensive team but they need to make thrm
Play in transition. Kings have younger legs, they need to act like it.

Steph Curry is the one beating us. We win the minutes when he's off the court every game. If we can just manage to play even while Steph is on the court, we should be fine. So I think two things need to happen: (1) Whoever is guarding Steph needs to fight around screens as much as possible because as soon as he gets space he's either shooting, driving all the way to the basket, or kicking out for an open three. (2) When Davion is on the bench and we're forced to defend Curry with Fox, Monk, Huerter, or Murray we need to attack constantly and keep moving the ball to force the Warriors to work hard on defense. I would also use up as much of the shot clock as possible to limit their possessions but I know that isn't Mike Brown's philosophy. At the very least don't let Steph rest on defense by standing still.

We need to have the killer instinct tonight. If we win this game we'll have momentum going into game 7 in Sacramento. I like our odds in that situation.

Game 4 was his breakout game. He was outstanding with 23 points. Game 5 chould have been a continuation of that, had the team recognized the need to get him the ball after his 1st quarter
I mean, I won't argue with you on that one. A rook dropping 23 against the defending champs on their court in the playoffs is certainly a high bar.

But my goodness, the aggression in Q1 last game... He looked like he could have dropped 35+ on them if he got the shots!

Sophomore season (and beyond) Keegan is gonna be a problem.

I think fox gave it his best shot in game 5. Came out tremendous and then it seems like at some point in the game either his finger got hit or the adrenaline wore off. He was clearly hampered in the second half (fourth quarter in particular). I think he really should have been benched in the 4th because I think he hurt us down the stretch (because of his finger....), but I completely understand Brown keeping him out there.

At this point, game 6 feels a bit like a hope and a prayer to me, but maybe that's just the disappointment of game 5 not yet wearing off. I think we can shock the world, but it's going to take the floodgates opening on the three point shooting. We need an overwhelming barrage of threes to fall since I think Fox will probably continue to be less effective than normal, and I don't think we have a whole lot more adjustments on the defensive side of things to make at this point. Go Kings!!

I agree. I don't think starting Mitchell makes a difference one way or the other, and if anything seems like potentially just crushes huerter's confidence even more. Any shot we have at winning game 6 will take a big huerter game in my opinion. If curry comes out blazing to start the game, you quickly make the sub at that point.

I only came here "full time" a few years ago, even then I didn't post much, but there's been A LOT of negativity here, for good reason. The recent succes has been a blessing.

I think some of the talk in that thread was just plain old speculation on how to get better, and some was fans that still have PTSD(for lack of a batter term) freaking out at... not really sure.

Feel free to use the ignore feature (click their name and select ingore), it does make this place more bearable when things go south.

I think we shake it up, there's nothing to loose. Match Davion with Curry all game on D. Make him run when he's playing D, if he switches there's your shot. If he drives put him on the floor(politely ;)). Make him run, beat him at his own game.

There are a handful of dominant posters that can sometimes snowball into a train wreck of a thread if things don't go well (or even if things go well, but not as good as they want). Hopefully you'll keep coming around to help maintain a bit of positivity, with level headed criticism when warranted.

Kings started the season losing 4 in a row, will we end the season losing 4 in a row?

gotta bring our A game tonight nothing less will do.

Hope we can have one of our 40 point quarters. Need that 121ppg offense to show up tonight n we can do this..
Doh! that would be interesting. I think our only losing streaks greater than 3 games all season.

The timeline:

> non-flashy extremely competent GM takes huge risks and puts together a team around our franchise player, owner finally stops meddling
> hire dark horse candidate head coach
> people laugh for thinking we're gonna get 40 wins
> team outperforms the first half, in the playoff hunt
> makes no major moves at deadline
> people say we'll get overtaken by teams who brought in HOFers
> we go on a tear after the ASB and shoot up to clinch the third seed
> fans elated, 1000 gather after midnight at airport to welcome the team home
> shock the defending champs taking first two games
> champs wake up and go champ mode
> almost take a game on their home court
> lose game five

Fans: TRADE HALF THE ROSTER

Makes sense.

/sarcasm

Some of you fans are crazy but UNCLE VINNY STILL LOVES YOU!!!

GO KINGS!!!!

I think we need to dance with the one who brought us to the ball. Just keep shooting is what I say.

Play man-to-man. This will help us to NOT leave them wide open for 3s.

Play Edwards for more the one defensive possession at a time.

Team rebound. Hearing how many rebounds Looney is up to throughout the game is beyond old.

Run the offense. Stop jacking up bad shots early in the shot clock. Be unselfish.

Sit Huerter.

A few factors playing into our favor. We play best with one day of rest (see Game 2). Early start time so the Warriors fans may arrive late and some just may not be able to go at all. Warriors are kinda comfy now knowing they have two shots to win the series whereas we will be desperate.

We don’t to shoot lights out but we can’t struggle from three as much as we did in Game 5. Have to shoot at least a respectable percentage to have a chance at winning tonight.
