The great thing about the team this season is that the forum is concentrated on talking about wins. While unlikely, the Kings CAN win every one of those contests with just a fairly good game rather than having to come up with an ungodly spectacular game as in years past. The players now walk on the court expecting to win each game.
I haven't been closing watching them but my suspicion would be their record is a result of: (1) Some bad luck similar to ours (5 close losses, they ran into a random Tyrese Maxey 9 for 12 3pt buzzsaw early in the year). (2) Their guard play has been subpar so far -- VanFleet and Gary Trent have not been shooting well. (3) Injury issues and poor rotational depth.
I see them as a tough matchup for us regardless because their strength is at the wing positions where we have not been great defensively and we're facing them in an early game back-to-back as the fifth game of this road trip a day after facing Embiid and Harden. Also... Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Philly are top 3 in points allowed right now and Toronto is 7th. These are all going to be ugly scraps and when you combine that with all the traveling, endurance will be a factor late in the road trip.

I think we've learned most of what there is to be learned. I don't feel there is much more additional info that can be extracted from 7 more games. Of the 7 teams listed we probably go 4-3 +/- 1. We won't be defined by the next 8 games given it's an 82 game season, of which we have already played 22.
well as the OP I will defend my thread….
this road-trip has a number of top teams on the road. No one expected the Kings to be at the level of the top teams but right now their advanced stats reflect it. This trip will go a long way to telling us are they really that good or just merely good and no longer bad.

Kings need to beat the Pistons tonight, pure and simple - a loss would be a road-trip failure. They need to capitalize against weaker opponents.
I'd like to see Holmes and Len worked into the lineup more to see what's what. Not been impressed with Metu the last several games. His defense has been poor. Brown's meltdown just about cost them the Raptors game - you can't lose your marbles like that in a close game outside of play.

It didn't look "strategic" - it looked reactive - he ran out on the floor out of control when Fox got a technical being held back by his players. It was also a 5pt swing for the Raptors at that point. The team didn't respond until later in the 4th quarter having to make up that swing well after Brown was tossed. It was dumb.
I don’t understand why it was dumb. You can tell the players played with fire after that, and they openly admit that Brown got them fired up. It’s a pretty well known strategy that many coaches have used, especially Pop, to get their players focused.
The Kings were getting openly hosed by the refs, Fox picked up a tech, things were unraveling. So instead of his Star player getting ejected, Brown stepped in and fought for his players, got ejected, and that probably won them the game. What in this whole thing makes it a dumb decision?
