Man I don’t know, I feel like this was the draft where moving up didn’t really help up since I feel like pistons and pacers got steals in ivey and mathurin and we didn’t leverage our position knowing we didn’t want ivey.

I hope Murray is the guy and I’m wrong we passed on bpa…. I don’t think our fan base can take much more… this place is gonna be a ghost town if Murray is a bust and ivey blows up
Yeah it's a bummer. Sacramento is so much more enjoyable when the Kings are fun/interesting. Last year was the most dead I've ever seen the fanbase and it was the first year where I really felt that the Warriors fully took over the city.

I really was hoping for Ivey as kind of a shot in the arm/something to get excited about. Especially because after this week, barring any crazy free agency moves, the odds the Kings don't make the playoffs or play in are very, very high, even with Murray. I can only imagine what this city and fanbase looks like come March if we are as bad as I think we are going to be.

Agree. Unless some major trades are made, this team on paper doesn't have a prayer of making the playoffs. Sad really.
We're ALL masochists it seems. LOL

Should be noted that up til the last month when the hype train went crazy, people were talking about this being the weakest draft in years
This is a year where they could have capitalized on droppers. The only potentially good thing the Kings have done in the draft in 16 years has been that. SMH.

To be fair, 50,000 bay area transplants moving to the region during the pandemic may have played some role in that.

Drake U'U made a good a point today on DLO and KC's podcast. Do you think Keegan will be better than John Collins or Kyle Kuzma next year? Do you think he'll have a better career?

There's different ways to address team needs. Is Keegan THAT special? If you can trade down and grab Collins or Kuzma plus assets to get Daniels or Sochan and another first, why not do that? So, again, it's not the player. It's the lack of creativity that is the issue.
You have stated multiple times that they could have traded down. This may be true but at 10 none of those players were there. Kuzma is not a winning basketball player period. Collins wasn’t truly available. Maybe for 4th and Barnes but we weren’t doing that. At the end of the day all of the speculated trades were just that speculation. You are bashing lack of creativity based on speculation. I would bet a pretty penny Monte explored many options - being an NBA gm and an analytics nerd and all

Wonder what the reason is we didn’t want a 2nd round pick this year. Maybe expecting some players coming back in a trade
Maybe it means they want to give Queta a chance to grow and make the big club? We had so many 2nd round picks and you can only have so many two way contracts. But yeah also I bet we are going after players for Brown that we actually expect to play?

This isn't a good sign. Not at all.
I will defend the Murray pick, and I think for a variety of reasons he can be a big part of a successful team going forward, but I had higher expectations going into the night. Feels a bit like last year. Then I remember us all saying clearly the roster will be balanced by the start of the season. Clearly Walton will be shown the door….and then we wasted the first half of the season. I trust Monte won’t do anything stupid, but at the same time I worry his expectations for trades may be set too high to actually get much done. Hope I’m wrong.

It was always going to be Fox/Domas taking this team anywhere but the Blazers might take that spot the Kings were going for next year. Now the Kings have very little in the way of potential if and when a rebuild becomes necessary. They have two young guys and they're basically developed. Man, this could be dire around the deadline if this doesn't work.

Monte certainly has shown a history of exploring and exploring and exploring trades.

Absolutely horrible. Worst move on the Monte tenure by far.

Kendall Brown, EJ Liddell, Trevor Keels, Jaden Hardy were all 1st round talents. I think all those guys can help an NBA rotation pretty quickly and we punt the pick? Gary Trent all over again.

Better hope Vezenkov is coming over next season, or this will turn into an utter disaster real quick.

The roster is actually balanced now, we have an NBA quality starter at all 5 positions and Mitchell. Obviously still need wing depth but we just got that magical piece we've been trying to max out RFAs for the last 8 years in the draft.

37 is a very high value pick--for the right org. SMH.

Not for nothing but the Kings roster was slotted to only have three open roster spots before factoring in draft picks. (plus two two-ways). Ideally you'd be able to stash those second round players in your two-way slots but you'd still have a chance at losing them when you cut them off the active roster.

With Murray picked, we currently only have two spots open to re-sign DDV and/or Jones to (and only one if Sasha does end up coming over). Obviously there's probably still going to be player movement but we don't even had roster space to bring in a MLE FA right now. Not sure how picking a second rounder would have helped the crunch.

Sabonis/Holmes/Len/Queta
Lyles/Metu
Barnes/Holliiday/Harkless
Davis
Fox/Davion
