Trade Deadline Thread

Monte has been the GM from summer of 20 through today.
Monte McNair's record as GM
20-21
31 wins 41 losses
21-22
21 wins 36 losses
These are facts. This is not wishful thinking, hopes, dreams or intuition.
He had a roster full of players he didn't sign and no additional draft equity. Very little he could have done early on. What he has done at the deadline and through the drafts might not work out but at least he will have done it his way.

I want Boogie to back up Domas.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this was his last chance at sticking in the league. He really never caught a break of any kind. Multiple injuries. So much “what if” and tons and tons of talent. However, so much self inflicted damage with his attitude and behavior. Even now with all his experience he is still unchanged.

He had all the skills, but a lot of bad luck and bad attitude crushed him. I wish him nothing but the best, but I don’t want him anywhere near the team lol.

The Nuggz are a good situation for him. They didn't make any big moves to ease their bad luck so they could honestly really use his talent.

Even if Gentry takes us to the postseason?
If he gets to the second round or loses a game 7 I think that's my metric.

Or if the team manages to win 20 of their remaining games and finishes .500 or better, sure. Ooof, I mathed wrong. But gotta win 2/3 or better.
If they climb to 9 or 10 and beat the Lakers but get swept in the first round I really think we could do better, assuming Monte came in to the job saying "hey, I'm gonna roll with Walton for a bit but when I get a hire I want this guy".

And this is where it gets awkward, haha. The Kings have a true core now, so if he F's that up it's on him. Gentry has a history of typically using players decently so this could be a way worse circumstance for him. I'm sure he's all freaking smiles today. He realizes he has a shot to stick now.
I'm guessing when he went to bed on Monday he was ready to wash his hands of the org though.

Choosing Fox to build around = smart move to me. The Kings have had exactly 2 talents with that kind of ability since the Ron Ron days. Cuz and Fox. They never built a proper team around Cuz. Then again, they also never stuck with Cuz or maxed him out (sorry, but Vlade saved this franchise by pure luck since Cuz has had major bad luck injury wise). It looks like they are at least trying with Fox. This deadline was a buyers market and thank you Vivek. You let your guy do his thing.
I’ll give credit to Vivek for letting Monte do his thing. Now let him choose his own coach and I’ll start beginning to forgive him and will retain my season tickets

The Hali trade was obviously tough on him. But he’s a great player on a great contract. As it’s shaping up, we might be DEEP for a playoff run
And if it's too late for this season, im still a lot more optimistic and hype for next season. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and this freaking pandemic will be easier on everyone
