This is drinking the Kool-aid 101.
31 - 41

pdxKingsFan says "god it's so nice having a real GM."

Unbelievable. It's about wins and losses
Monte McNair's record as GM
20-21
31 wins 41 losses
21-22
21 wins 36 losses
Monte's record does speak for itself.
Cool, save this post and come back at me next year. I'll own it if I'm wrong.
I preached patience and said smart moves were coming. I believe these were smart moves.

A GM doesn't turn things around in a single year. It took Petrie about 4 to set up in year 5 what Monte may have set up for year 3. I think we're a legit 6 seed with this core for a full year.

A+ for Monte McNair. He was brilliant. His two drafts were great. These deals have been fantastic. The future looks bright.
Kept his picks and financial flexibility on top of it. Jackson and Lamb are UFA and Lyles has a really cheap team option. Holiday has one more season at 6.2 mil. Got his guy 2 years later in Donte D who absolutely is going to be a core piece moving forward.

Holmes is a superfluous asset, but he's not a guy you sell-low on. There should be a market for him this off-season and in the meantime, the Kings potentially have the best C rotation in basketball.

Gets a 98% from me. PJ for Holmes would have been a perfect deadline, but I think getting Trez for a lesser deal is a good indication the Hornets weren't interested in that swap.

That PJ move might still be available come the offseason when Trez is a UFA and they have to give Bridges a max to keep him in Charlotte.

Choosing Fox to build around = smart move to me. The Kings have had exactly 2 talents with that kind of ability since the Ron Ron days. Cuz and Fox. They never built a proper team around Cuz. Then again, they also never stuck with Cuz or maxed him out (sorry, but Vlade saved this franchise by pure luck since Cuz has had major bad luck injury wise). It looks like they are at least trying with Fox. This deadline was a buyers market and thank you Vivek. You let your guy do his thing.

if the DDV medical sorts out …. He is an
He is shooting 28% from 3 this year. I get that last year he shot 37% but he has typically been a pretty poor outside shooter (26%, 33%, 37%, 28%). I dont agree that he is an excellent spacer, but the rest of your statement is 100% true. That said, Im hoping its just rust of only playing 17 games and not being in the right spots to shoot, but playing next to Jrue/Giannis/middleton...i dont think spots was the issue (hopefully just rust. I hope you are right though.
well his medicals are also a question so we shall see……

I would rather be where we are now than 4 months ago but shooting is still an open question.

Agree. Its been awhile since i've been this excited to watch some games. I also hope this ends the constant negativity and made up narratives from the armchair GMs about McNair being a horrible GM, vivek the source of all evil, no choice but to blow it up and start all over, etc.

All of the above, plus Sabonis is the franchise changer. Guess who is the defacto leader of the Kings? Sabonis!

Definitely a bummer if we miss out on any deals with Charlotte who seemed an interesting partner but I think Holmes will still have trade value in the offseason or beyond. I know his minutes will be down but he should still be effective as a hustle guy off the bench and he did prove he can start even if he's middle of the road #15 out of 30 starters seems about right.
This is precisely how i feel! I can wait for Summer and at least he doesn't sulk or give any strange vibes on or off the court in the way Bagley and Buddy did over the last couple years.

Yeah, but that big he was with specialized in shooting 3's. And was also a KANGZ level combo where every year it was clear running 2 C's was a mistake. I guess they could give it a try but Sabonis/Holmes/Fox is not very complimentary. No better backup than Holmes probably though.
Unless it's Damian Jones, who has definitely earned those backup minutes but probably won't get them unless Sabonis and Holmes get into foul trouble.

Jones, Len, Queta - them's a lotta minutes that deserve/need to be played but won't be barring injury.

I can see the reason not to if Holmes is willing to be a 14 mpg backup. Sabonis/Holmes is one of the better C rotations but experimenting playing them side by side could potentially cause damage in the W/L column.
Most certainly something Walton would have done. Yuck! Props to Monte not only for the gutsy trades, but, getting the party started by tossing Walton as well.

Monte has been the GM from summer of 20 through today.
Monte McNair's record as GM
20-21
31 wins 41 losses
21-22
21 wins 36 losses
These are facts. This is not wishful thinking, hopes, dreams or intuition.
You understand he isn't a player on the court and he can't flip a roster overnight? He hasn't even gotten a chance to hire a coach yet.
