Trade Deadline Thread

Yeah, but that big he was with specialized in shooting 3's. And was also a KANGZ level combo where every year it was clear running 2 C's was a mistake. I guess they could give it a try but Sabonis/Holmes/Fox is not very complimentary. No better backup than Holmes probably though.
Yeah, not the whole game obviously, but you should be able to find 6-8 minutes every game where you can pair them vs certain match-ups. Holmes is pretty clearly the best defensive fit on the team next to Sabonis too, which should matter.

If he's cool being an energy backup, the Kings now might have their own Montrez. Instant energy and defense.
The beauty is he got his long-term contract, so "starting" shouldn't matter as much. He has a much better mentality to handle that than Buddy did in terms of his pure energy/grind (literally willed himself into a 50 million contract and being a quality player). And like you said, he pretty quickly becomes one of the best subs in basketball. That has value to a team looking to win

well you know i didn't think of it that way. I was still thinking starter but yes holmes off the bench is fine. I just like Jones better. Len may never see the court again
I think longterm, we'll move Holmes but for now it's not a bad thing to have him coming off our bench

If there isn't a great deal out there I would prefer to ship him in the offseason, Monte has hopefully shown the haters that patience is a virtue. If this doesn't work out save this post and roast me, but I've been saying all along taking incremental moves just to shuffle and do something was the same as its been since the drought began. I truly believed Monte had a plan and has been working to execute it.

No offense to Gentry who seems like a good dude for not saying f you mid-season but I hope he had a head coach in mind when he was hired and will get to hire that guy.
but I bet we could have traded him for a large expiring and seconds!

god it's so nice having a real GM. I know it took a while but dude was playing chess after years of the Maloofs (I really am going to give Petrie credit as having been undercut from about 2005 on), those two dumbheads and Vlade playing checkers.

Unbelievable. It's about wins and losses
Monte McNair's record as GM
20-21
31 wins 41 losses
21-22
21 wins 36 losses
Monte's record does speak for itself.

You can make the claim at the end of next season, after he constructed a roster of his players. Not now.
