Bucks Trade In Jeopardy: Bogi Didn’t Agree Go to the Bucks

Huh. Well, that would explain things. Sounds as if the Bucks dropped their offer and publicly announced that a sale was made without us and Bogi agreeing to the new terms. It also seems like the fanbase insistence on getting a pick in a deal like that was completely in line with expectation.
This makes sense to me. Also explains why the Kings FO didn't claim the deal was done. The Bucks overpaid for Holiday and neither the Kings or Bogi had to be happy with the changes to the deal.

Given that the Bucks have no real sweeteners left and are limited in what they can offer Bogdanovic contractually there's really no reason not to look for other S&T opportunities.

But should Bogi sign a big offer sheet elsewhere both the Bucks and the Kings will miss out.

I like Donte D., but to be over the cap for Illyosova and not to get any future draft capital is not really worth it.
Yeah, and DiVincenzo's value to the Kings dropped some with the Haliburton and Ramsey picks.

But he's still a useful piece and Ilyasova is essentially an ending contract with next year's salary unguaranteed.

He, Wilson, Bjelica, Parker, Joseph (who's deal is only partially guaranteed for 2021-2022) all represent contracts that could be dealt to other teams to absorb their bad deals for assets as OKC has been doing.

Bogi walking for nothing just represents a bit of caproom which isn't all that useful in Sacramento.

Bucks should have also been more transparent since the Kings FO was looking for a pick and Bogi looking for specified $ amount.

Atlanta - Huerter or Hunter, and a 2nd rd , They have cap for S & T, But can always make a big offer sheet
We dont have leverage, so would be nice to get something

I still really hope the trade goes through unless there is a much better offer out there. I still expect Buddy to be traded at some point and I want Haliburton on the court with Fox. If Fox and Hali b are the eventual starters, ddv and Ramsey could be a nice rotation. Trade cojo at the deadline for a pick and draft a young pg next year.

I think trading Bogi makes sense with our timeline - depending on the deal. Although I am intrigued at what a small ball lineup with Fox, Haliburton, Bogi, Barnes and Bagley could do on offense.

Amick providing a lot of intel on Carmichael Dave’s show right now. Sounds like the Holiday trade complicated things significantly—Bogi was suddenly in line to receive less money and have a lesser role on the team than originally imagined.

The Kings also have been talking to other teams about sign and trades and have been asking for a young player and a pick. It sounds like the Kings were set to receive that from the Bucks until the Bucks sent all their picks to New Orleans.
I hate Jrue Holiday now.

Fox, DiVincenzo, & Haliburton would have been a fun back court.

  • Hard workers
  • High IQ
  • Good locker room presence
  • Care about the defensive side of the ball (although I'd like to see Fox grow on this side a lot more).

Still holding out hope we land Divincenzo and move on from Hield in time.

I think Buddy will get moved but right now teams are looking to get a bargain deal on a disgruntled player. McNair likely wants to see him build up his value a bit more. And it's not like Hield has any leverage. He's just starting a 4 year extension.

It's in everyone's best interest for him to have a great season. Or at least start to the season. We'll see.

I also think, in addition to potentially pooling their expiring contracts for a veteran, having Ilyasova step in as a stretch big allows McNair to find a trade partner for Bjelica without sacrificing much on the court. They are more less duplicative talents who are unlikely to be here beyond next season and I think Bjelica has more trade value so it would make sense to shop him now and see if we can get a young player or a draft pick in return.

One silver lining to this is it might drive down the Hawks offer since presumably they’re no longer bidding against the Bucks & a chance to fight for a ring there. Altho there’s still a chance they do a stupid overpay to make sure the kings can’t match

Welp. Bogi is under no obligation to do us any favors but if he does end up signing with Milwaukee now it's gonna sting.

Bucks now $17.6M below the tax, so they can still overpay, and since they reek of desperation to keep Giannis, I would not put it past them.

The Bucks are just over the salary cap with the players they have plus dead money. They can't sign Bogi outright. The way the CBA works I'm not even sure they can trade for him now.

If the Bucks aren't getting Bogdanovic, they won't have to do that insane hard cap dance they were set to do. Bucks now $17.6M below the tax and $20M below the hard cap. Using the $9.3M MLE would also hard cap them, but without Bogdanovic they have the flexibility to use it.
So they can sign someone for 9.3 or figure out how to make the deal. But they can't offer Bogi a fair deal.
